Was he number 4? If so i was impressed too.

I was impressed by Yussef fast , good control and strong. Would be woth a spot on the bench for the first team.

Yeah he was, reminded me so much of Weso. Very good and i can only remember one time when he gave the ball away all night.

Agree with you about Adi.

Nice introduction to youth team football for me. lol

Would probably echo those who said Yussuf and John were the two stand-outs for Leicester. Liverpool's front two were decent, especially Dalle Valle (sp?), and their back four looked pretty tight too. They also looked far more perceptive of movement than we did, though perhaps that was partly to do with them being used to them playing on bigger pitches more regularly than our lot do? :dunno:

Well done to the Liverpool fans that came down !

Their accents suggested that I probably came further to get to the game than they did! lol

5 1 Scoreline in no way reflected that game

1st Half, thought Ambrusics was at fault for two of the goals. For the second goal, if he couldnt hold the shot, he needed to push the ball away from the goal, rather than pat it down. The 4th goal, i dont think he knew where his far post was.

The third goal was a clinical counter attack

First goal, fair play. A wonderful ball from their lad in and a top header from Dalla Valle. Unstoppable.

BUT

Leicester had a fair amount of the play in the first half too.........particularly Youssuf up front looked very lively, hitting post and bar. Would have been interesting to have tested their keeper a little more because i thought he looked a bit dodgy.

First half, Every Liverpool attack ended up in a goal.

Second half, Leicester were the better team, decent movement, and a well deserved goal for Youssuf. Got Jorrin John on the ball a bit more too and he had a decent game.

The fifth Liverpool goal was really well worked but the game was dead by then anyway really.

BUT

The game could have been a LOT different if Leicester had taken the one on one chance at 4-1 with 20 mins left. Not sure who it was, but made a poor decision in taking the shot. Needed to round the keeper, as the keeper was already on his way down.

I would also say that up front for Liverpool, Dalla Valle, their number 11 (didnt have a teamsheet sorry) and The big lad up top all looked pretty decent and could have a bright future too, not necessarily for Liverpool but for a lower league club

Tranmere?

Still cannot believe some people booed at half time

Unbelievable but true. <_<

Said the same thing to my old man!

Liverpools number 11 was Thomas Ince, Paul Ince's son.

You need to lighten up a bit mate.

Same as the other thread.

Maybe I should use more smilies when I'm pulling peoples chains.

Christ it was cold!!

Most ppl have already summed it up, scoreline didnt reflect the game, John, Yussef, Taft and Milne were good. Ref was shite, our fans are tossers even at a very young age. lol

Sorry didnt get to see LSOH (forgot to take your number with me!) or Ian but evening was spent with some very decent ppl.

Got home and thawed out in the bath with a very large Bacardi

Were gonna win the league!

pretty sure we will lose this - it's just meant to be, with our record and the bumper crowd, it's bound to go wrong :(
Disagree - We already beat them 3-0 at their place. I imagine with a crowd urging them on a nice 4 or 5-0 win could be on the cards. I imagine it would be quite a long time ago that a Leicester team beat a Liverpool team by that amount even if it is the youth team.
the difference is that my post was just a silly bit of facetious skepticism whereas yours was bizarre unconsidered gushing.

this is NOT a league game, we came unstuck early in the cup last year, liverpool are no doubt a half decent team looking for revenge for a thumping.

it is quite common for a team on a good run to come unstuck when the circumstances change - this being a cup competition, at the walkers in front of a bumper crowd, as i see it, has 'change of fortune' written all over it - your 'logic' on this occasion goes out of the window for a game like this.

If you look at stats I am sure you will find that you are wrong and that it is not actually common at all though it does happen. As 'you see it' is no less speculative than my optimistic speculation 'as I see it'. Ifs, buts, maybes and opinions eh?

shame about the result tho, but it was always going to be a big game for them...

I reckon, and it was stated a few times last night, if we'd have been playing that game at the training ground we'd have won that!

You would have thought playing in front of a crowd at a semi big stadium is what footballers aspire to. :dunno:

You dont think young lads suffer nerves? :dunno:

Of course they will be nervous but the adrenaline would take care of that.

I'm just saying as up and coming footballers your dream is to play in front of thousands, not a behind doors training ground match.

If that was the cause to them losing then how would they cope once they entered the professional stage?

They wont be as young in the Professional stage for a start!

Im not saying its the cause of them losing but it may have been a factor, its not their usual pitch and everyone knows playing at "home" is an advantage. They obviously dont have a confidence problem normally, being unbeaten at the top of the league, but as they are just kids its not really beyound the realms of possibility that the occasion of playing at the WS and a bigger crowd than normal may have got to some of them?

Being booed and having certain idiots shouting abuse at them might not have helped, its certainly not something any of them will have experienced at the training ground thats for sure. They certainly didnt look as confident 2nd half though the scoreline obviously wouldnt have helped. I was merely throwing it out there thats all. I dont claim to be an expert lol

I agree, that's only going to have a negative effect on the players especially when their not used to playing in such surroundings. I suppose you have a point that they may feel out of their comfort zone playing at The Walkers, but hopefully it's all good experience.

Next time leave it to the experts then

Seriously though I wasn't having a dig I just found it a bit strange that was the reason to defeat. I mean you see players like Rooney, Rodwell etc who play in front of 40,000 plus with no problems. At the end of the day I wasn't at the game so can't comment on the performance so you obviously have a better idea than me. :)

I know you werent, Im not suggesting thats the only reason we lost but I do think it may have had an affect (effect?) on how they played at times. The one on one against their keeper for example Im sure would have been buried normally. Maybe hes been watching Fryatt too much? lol

Anyway was an enjoyable evening and good to see the Liverpool team play too. Im happy with being top of the league

I think you can get a collective nervousness/apprehension that spreads through a team. I'm sure also that what nervousness was there, and i'm sure Liverpool would have had the same problem would have diminished if we hadn't conceded so early and so much against the run of play and would have vanished if one of our attempts that hit the woodwork had gone in.

As Lou said it was probably a contributing factor that got worse as the game developed and the goals against piled up despite playing some excellent football.

Young players who make the break, such as Rooney, also have the benefit of playing with experienced professionals. They'll be there to back up, reassure, keep the youngster calm etc as they are used to paying in front of large crowds. A team of young players don't have that.
