Joe. Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 What's everybody doing this year? Off to London myself to catch the fireworks at Embankment. I'm sure a few of you will have done it before, I'm assuming it doesn't die down early there? Not got anything booked accommodation-wise so I'm hoping so...
lou Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Quiet one in with the kids as usual, I hate NYE - it makes me depressed and I dont even know why.
Fosse Boy Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Piss up in Harborough as usual I suspect. Looking forward to 3rd round day on the 2nd more if I'm honest.
Libertine Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 I hate NYE - it makes me depressed and I dont even know why. Same. Weird one really.
Tevez Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 3 Guesses where Me, Maybes, Muz & Wilkesy are going.....
Brainy Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Quiet one in with the kids as usual, I hate NYE - it makes me depressed and I dont even know why. Yeah think im definitely gonna be depressed this year.
Guest Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 I feel the need to be around people on NYE, but this year, the offers of company are somewhat lacking.
Koke Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 I'm absolutely skint, and not feeling too well anyway, so it'll be a quiet night this time. Last time I celebrated New Years properly was couple of years ago when we turned up for QPR the following day completely wasted off our tits. Good times.
lou Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 I feel the need to be around people on NYE, but this year, the offers of company are somewhat lacking. Same! I dont like going out, too packed and too expensive and I dont like leaving the kids on their own on NYE. Usually have a friend over to stay with her kids but shes not coming this year so itll just be the 4 of us, the lad has a ticket for some club in town.
Daggers Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Tried going out in London one year, everywhere was shut or wanted tickets. All the pubs by Liverpool St were closed and we ended up on a train heading back to Southend. It broke down at Tilbury Docks, which is where we sat without a drink for three and a half hours while the New Year was welcomed in by the rest of the world. Never fucking again.
Guest Bilo Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Going down to the girlfriend's local. Thoroughly looking forward to that one, be nice to see in the New Year somewhere new. Not sure I could be arsed with London myself, hideously overpriced and overcrowded I'd imagine.
Finnegan Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Am I the only one that thinks most famous firework displays are cack? In my time in London I did both central London and Ally Pally and they were both a bit toss really. Only noteworthy thing about Ally Pally was that, due to the elevation, obviously you could see most of the rest of the big displays in the city. Good atmosphere in central, though. We just got pissed with stuff from our house party and wandered around chatting to people, probably a better atmosphere in the street than in half the overpriced pubs.
lcfc_jme Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 I feel the need to be around people on NYE, but this year, the offers of company are somewhat lacking. Likewise Reckon I'll spend a quiet one with the mother and kid brother. Understated is not necessarily worse.

Benji Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Off to New York tomorrow for 2 weeks, can't wait. Spending NYE in times square
jonthefox Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 im staying in this year.. just cant be arsed really.
Guest Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Off to New York tomorrow for 2 weeks, can't wait. Spending NYE in times square NYE in NY? Have a great time, chuck!
Wilkesy Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 3 Guesses where Me, Maybes, Muz & Wilkesy are going..... Its going to be MASSIVE!!!
Asha Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Quiet one in with the kids as usual, I hate NYE - it makes me depressed and I dont even know why. I find NYE distressing, and I was once told this at new years is common, but as more of a general seasonal depression type thing.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Either be asleep or watching a DVDVDVD
Fosse Boy Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 I find NYE distressing, and I was once told this at new years is common, but as more of a general seasonal depression type thing. If it's because of the fireworks, you're probably a dog. Consult your local vet for a free rabies injection.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Working until seven at night, then going out, probably be a massive let down.
AoWW Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Really not a big fan of NYE - always find it depressing. In all honesty if I can't be out and about doing something fantastic this year (and that's looking highly unlikely!) I'd rather be on my own at home, watching what I want on TV, curled up with the cat and able to drink as much as I like. Instead I'm gonna be expected to go and visit my Grandad with my Mum - just like we did on Christmas Day. A fun-filled evening of him moaning about what's on TV, moaning about having to stay up late, and trying to pressure me into having a drink or two (he's of the generation who think drinking and driving 'doesn't matter' and I'm being deliberately miserable by not having a drink) "er, yes, I think you'll find it very much matters... and it's not that I'm being anti-social you.... *bites tongue*" It's not that I don't like seeing him - I just think there are occasions other than NYE that are far more conducive to happy family gatherings. Not sure how I can get out of it without causing offence though.
AjcW Posted 28 December 2009 Posted 28 December 2009 3 Guesses where Me, Maybes, Muz & Wilkesy are going..... I dont know you lot very well but im guessing brum gatecrasher for a bit of Deadmaus action like myself? Just because Maybes seems like a big fan .
Lillehamring Posted 28 December 2009 Posted 28 December 2009 it's been many a year since i pubbed it on new years, and only ever had good times doing the 'cunt' in great bowden.... this year i have the pleasure of having been invited to a black tie dinner party at some friends: so, a bit of dressing up, some good food and then probably down to the sea front for the fireworks. speaking of which it is the most breathtaking sight here (see my sig) it's as if every house in the city puts on a show!
