Guest Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 You can call season ticket holders all you like for not forking out the extra pounds to go to a cup game, but fact of matter is there's plenty of benefits around for others, especially kids getting in for a quid, or even free, and yet season ticket holders get little to no benefit as the season progresses. Ok, so season ticket holders shell out a lot to begin with and gain the benefit of getting games for less over a season, and 10% off at the shop, but the benefits stop right there. So being able to buy the Cup tickets cheaper than non-STHs or members isn't a benefit then? Having priority for home and away tickets is not a benefit? And Cardiff_fox, the issue of ticket pricing and comparing ST prices with the prices paid by non-STHs is a regular at the FCC. Those in charge of ticket pricing sit down at the start of the season and work out which games can be discounted and which won't. They make sure that that actual cost of a ST is still cheaper than buying match tickets separately. They have brought the figures in, and it does work out cheaper to buy a ST than not. The figures were also printed in the Mockery the other season, at the Club's request following criticism by the newspaper and the fans.
Fox92 Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 Yeah mummy and daddy can't fund you for the next few weeks. Shame you can't stop funding your short sighted and pathetic attitude. No, I try and get my own money. Why is it short sighted and pathetic? Just because I didn't go and then said I am glad i didn't go, ohh yes of course, I have seen that millions of times on here but you are just picking up on my comment, that's alright though, I hope you are having fun. He's supporting your opinion... and I agree with it too. I'd love to be able to sit down and work out whether it's possible to get through a season cheaper than a ST via all these offers etc. Ohh ok

Ohh ok Theres never a boring moment on Foxestalk Theres always going to be the argument about "loyal supporters" But what has killed the FA cup is television. People think, "So it's going to be Leicester vs Swansea, two similar teams in the championship, not the most attractive match, I'll watch the highlights on television." The 'Free' fa cup game, you used to get with your season ticket wasn't free. But I'd welcome the idea back at the Walkers. Have to credit the fans tho yesterday. There were 12,000 of us, And we were pretty good for a small crowd. Even the Swansea fans were great, there banter was good. Would be nice to see a deal tho, next time were at home in the FA cup, to bring the crowds in.

Maybe it's the fact that you say you're glad you didn't see a match which ultmiately we won that some find a bit odd.

Loyal is York and Barrow, Yeovil and Brighton. And, like always TV does kill it but I don't think there was a game on in the afternoon so, technically, it didn't kill the afternoon games. If the club are prepared to take the match out of the Season Ticket, they are prepared for a crowd like this. It happens everywhere, not just at Leicester, they were 8,000 fans or something at Hillsborough. It would have cost about £75 all together yesterday and quite frankly, I didn't want to go and watch the match. I have credit for the 8,000 Barrow fans who travelled up to Sunderland and the York fans that went to Stoke. But, well done for going yesterday.

You've already seen Swansea down the Walkers this season. You have to think about it. How many Barrow fans actually go to their league games? When their ground Holker Street has a maximum capacity of 4256. Fair play to them tho.

How exactly is loyalty conveyed if the whole town turns out for one away game while their avarage attendance in the league probably takes canine spectators into account? Also, why is everyone moaning about the cold? I was toasty on the back row of SK1.
AoWW Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 In fairness to Fox92 it's his decision which games he does or doesn't go to. Can't really see why other people are so concerned by his whereabouts - unless you're all gagging to meet him, of course. I said on here yesterday that I was glad I'd stayed in the warm rather than go to the game - tho I must admit this only just cancelled out my disappointment at missing a decent game - and nobody saw fit to have a pop at me about it. Fox92 says something similar and suddenly loads of people jump on the bandwagon of having a dig at him. Just my tuppence worth, mind.
marbelladave Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 I like the cup so decided to go, not the easiest decision given that I live in north London and the M1 can be a 'mare at holiday time. I actually rather enjoyed the game, the crowd seemed in good humour throughout and I chatted to a couple who were at there first game of the season and determined to enjoy themselves, good stuff! I was a bit worried early on as Swansea seemed likely to give us a football lesson but we countered well (eventually) and eventually bossed the game second half and deserved the win. Our defense was a bit shaky but pretty as their football was, Swansea did not pose much of a goal threat, perhaps just as well. Going forward we were direct and determined and that was enough to get the win, although I can not see us getting near promotion playing this way. Overall a 'clean' win and the prospect of a decent drawer is a very good result in the circumstances, decent London based team please!

Seems like I started this, my only criticism was that he was blaming it on there being no cup ticket in with the ST. If he doesn't want to go can't afford it etc. then that shouldn't be subject to criticism. Apologies to Fox92 if it seemed otherwise.

TBH looking round the stadium I thought there were more than 12,000 there yesterday, I wasn't really sure what the crack was i.e - If it was just the West Stand open as they have done in the past when they knew it wouldn't be a big attendance so to get there yesterday and see people all round the stadium was great.

Yeah there seemed more than 12,000. It looked as if there was about 17000 or something, Hate it when they only open the west stand.

They took 72 coaches yesterday Are there actually that many coaches in Barrow.

Lillehamring Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 Yep and the same people who couldnt be arsed to go today will be clammering for tickets for the next round if we do get a big Prem club yeah and no doubt a fair few of the 'i-wanna-stay-in-the-championship-cause-the-prem-teams-are-full-of-cheating-prima-donnas-and-the prem-big-boys-have-ruined-footy' brigade...
lcfc_jme Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 Nuts to you, you complete rube. I had a bully old time yesterday. Absolutely brilliant. Actually enjoyed attending a home game for once! I think this perfectly sums up my thoughts about SK1 yesterday: And also, EPIC FAIL by the stewards. Always lovely to beat them and shit all over Kevin's hypocritical 1 man sanitising campaign.
Fosse Boy Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 Absolutely brilliant.Actually enjoyed attending a home game for once! Home games are definitely more fun when you turn them into costume parties. Makes you feel like you're in a shite ITV period drama.

You guys were very visible from the edges of K block yesterday. Had no idea at the time exactly who it was, but thought it might be some FTers as I know lots of you sit up there. At one point, there was a very noticeable 'bounce' going on, nice work!

Visible from K! Love it! Don't think any of us there were regular "Kopites" but it was an enjoyable experience nonetheless.
Scow Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 I thought we deserved to win. It was frustrating at times watching a side constantly passing the ball among their back four and midfield without much attacking impetus, but Pearson was right to get us pushing further up the pitch and disrupt their pattern of play in the second half. It can be a dangerous thing to do as they're more likely to pick you off - fortunately, they didn't create much apart from a couple of long range shots. Shame about the draw though. At least it's not Preston.
Bert Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 I didn't go, so can't really say anything, but I am getting worried that Weale is seeming to keep on getting beat by long rangers. We've never lost this season when Dyer's started.
