When you say Mr Brightside winning this shambles of a contest, are you publishing your dismay at the song or the contest itself? Because I quite like the song and is one of my favourite Killers tracks.

Everyone will all have their different opinion though, and I can see why Mr Brightside was chosen, but also understand why some people may not.

For me though, my favourites would be:

Good Riddance (Time of your life) - Green Day

Last Train Home - Lostprophets

Last Summer - Lostprophets

The Smiths - This Charming Man

The Stone Roses - I Wanna Be Adored / This Is The One / Made of Stone

NIN - Hurt

The Rolling Stones - Wild Horses / Sympathy For the Devil

Jimi Hendrix - Castles Made Of Sand

RHCP - Otherside

Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight / Today / Cherub Rock

Muse - Plug In Baby

Placebo - Every You, Every Me

Prince - When Doves Cry

Off the top of my bonce, if we're talking 'classics.'

Deep Purple - Child In Time

Radiohead - Street Spirit (Fade Out)

The Jam - The Eton Rifles

Also agree with Sonnet, Superstition, Unfinished Sympathy and quite a few of Alexei and MTWG's.

All music taste depends on the individual of course, but for there to be a common concensus that Mr. bleedin' Brightside is the best song of all time or whatever is utterly ridiculous. It's not even The Killers' best song, let alone the world's.

If we were talking about the top 1000 songs overplayed to death in clubs on the other hand, they might have had a point.

1000 songs is a shit load. Bust out over 400 so far and a fair few of your shouts will be added tonight.

Not a single Oasis song yet either.

I have one in mine , 1 in Hugos also

Slide Away - Oasis

Death On The Stairs - The Libertines

This Is The One - The Stone Roses

Sonnet - The Verve

In My Life - The Beatles

Surely Bitter Sweet Symphony? Sure it's overplayed but there's a reason for that, Sonnet and Drugs Don't Work were a little dirgey.

I'd want to see on the list:

House of the Rising Sun - any version, I suppose the Animals though I reckon Dylan's was better.

Huricane, Times They Are A' Changng - Bob Dylan

Old Man, Heart of Gold - Neil Young

Fast Car - Tracy Chapman

No Woman No Cry - Bob Marley

Voodoo Child - Hendrix

Mustang Sally - Mack Rice/Wilson Pickett

Nothing But Flowers - Talking Heads

Iron Maiden - The Trooper

Bill Bragg - Waiting For The Great Leap Forwards

RATM - Bulls on Parade

BRMC - Whatever Happened To My Rock And Roll (albeit probably somewhere quite low down)

Sisters of Mercy - This Corrosion

There's a pretty mixed bag for you.

Is rap allowed in this competition cos there's at least 497 rap tunes that would make it into any top 1000.

Also what is Mr Brightside? I thought he was the DJ on XFM when I saw the thread. I'm not checking on youtube until I hear what people say is Mr Brightside.

And what is the L**E thing Smuts was on about in first post?

EDIT : "Any M**e love will not be appreciated." What does this mean? I can't figure out the M**e bit.
