Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 Bob Neilson's not great but not half as bad as people make out.
marbelladave Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 Spot on.I really don't understand the hate, to be honest. He's far from Ronaldinho but if he strikes you as the worst thing in our side at the moment then you've got issues. The shape and the creativity of our midfield is far more troubling, as is our unfortunate obsession with bypassing them with thumping longballs that never seem to find Howard. End of the day, the Championship may not be an immense standard of football but we're where we are in the league out of merit. I don't think there's any massive, staggering faults in the team that urgently need correcting. We do need improve in certain areas if we're to stay in the hunt but, despite recent injury worries, I don't think right back is our most pressing concern. McGivern worries me more than Neilson and even he's moderately capable. I'd be looking at our more forward moving players, really. We really need to find someone as well as Fryatt to start knocking in the goals, be it a midfielder advancing from the middle, a winger to provide more wide distribution for one of our tall strikers in the air or just signing striker no. 2579325. Fryatt's not a one man team. The hate groups are a disgrace, cretinous behaviour of the lowest level. Our center midfield is deployed as a largely defensive unit, they are bypassed going forward by our insistence on playing a direct, long ball game, they need to get forward quickly to support the strikers but they are 'passing' type players, not Mark Davies! Apart from the (current) top three the standard in the Championship is not that high, we are doing well results wise but this is primarily down to team effort, hard work and organisation not quality football. To move to the next level, ie genuine promotion contenders, we need to develop a passing game and start playing some real football, that has been my view for a while and I see no reason to change it.
Asha Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 So many Leicester fans are complete cunts. He may not be Maicon down that right side but 'kinell he tries. Leave him alone for ****s sake.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 So many Leicester fans are complete cunts. He may not be Maicon down that right side but 'kinell he tries. Leave him alone for ****s sake. Fook off you tit, maybe you have set yourself so crappy standards but most Leicester fans haven't. Whats the point in thinking he's shit but he tries his best ? We could have signed a better right back then him. I'm not saying we're Man Utd but we should have better standards than him. Alan Maybury and Alan Rogers are on the same level as this idiot.
Fosse Boy Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 So many Leicester fans are complete cunts. He may not be Maicon down that right side but 'kinell he tries. Leave him alone for ****s sake. So would I if I was playing right back for Leicester, doesn't mean I'd be exempt from criticism though. Don't think many are doubting his work rate or attitude to be fair.

Criticism is one thing, and acceptable. I was too lazy to read the thread in fairness, and haven't really made my own comments on the facebook hate groups, which is what I was referring to with 'some leicester fans are ****s' and 'leave him alone' etc. He wasn't good at all on Saturday, but the hate for him because of a few weak performances is unbelievable.

Please elaborate.

The hate groups are chav behaviour of the lowest possible level, I have stated my views on this elsewhere. Criticism is normal, the man is a professional and can take it on the chin, that is not the point, making one person responsible for a string of mediocre (at best) performances is a nonsense. We are not playing very well and we badly need some sorting out, there is poor play everywhere we look. Our keeper is beaten from range far too often, the back 4 as a unit is jittery and it's distribution is woeful, center midfield is so easily over run that we have to deploy a third central player in a 'narrow' right position to help out, our left winger blows hot and cold for no obvious reason, our center forward is past his best and slowing down game by game (but if we play the long ball he has to play) and his partner is a one trick pony. That's criticism!
Jimmy Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 James Chambers we don't have any money, hence why we got a right back in on a free so we could spend money to buy Wellens, we only got Gallagher from the Mattock money
Daggers Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 we don't have any money, hence why we got a right back in on a free so we could spend money to buy Wellens, we only got Gallagher from the Mattock money "Mandaric said City would not sell and has even promised to personally dig deep if Pearson decided there was a player who could really bolster his side's push for the play-offs."
Jimmy Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 yes but we were talking about in the summer when Milan wasn't going to spend as our aim was simply to stay up
Koke Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 The bloke is no Glen Johnson, but I'd cut him some slack. Our best possible defensive unit consist of; Morrison - Hobbs - Brown - Berner I really hate moving Morrison from his from his preferred CB position, but we have no other alternative. On top of that, it doesn't really help Neilson that Oakley often wanders around in no mans land, thus Neilson is forced to push forward which he obviously pretty shit at. He does the basics OK, but he is an extremely limited footballer. Probably Nige's worst buy to date.
Fox You Forest Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 Our best possible defensive unit consist of;Morrison - Hobbs - Tunchev - Berner How dare you.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 Brown's been a liability since Forest, and Morrison seems more accomplished at centre back, as has been said elsewhere. I'd take Bobby Valentino in the line up over Brown any day.
Raj Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 Hate Groups on Facebook? Some people have no sense of perspective....and they need to get out abit more.
Asha Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 How dare you. That's an interesting point there FYF. Would Tunchev even come back in? I think I'd prefer Morrison and Hobbs to be honest. I know he's been injured, but when he has played Tunchev hasn't filled me with confidence at all this season. Brilliant player last year but really unfortunate with injuries.
foxoffderby Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 I agree with most of the comments on here about Neilson not being good enough, he was to blame for me for the Ipswich goal a complete lack of pace. Morrison at right back for me everytime. One player which has not been mentioned is young O'Neil. I watched him in a number pre season games early this season, he looks promising to me. Reminds of me of a young Gary Neville. Good postional sense, strong in the tacke and likes to overlap. I think he played recently in the first team when he came on as a sub in the centre back position. Looked a little nervy, but I think fullback is his best position. Time to give youth a chance if we are not going to spend in January.

Alan Maybury and Alan Rogers are on the same level as this idiot. there is a difference between 'standards' and 'expectations' - i don't think any fan of leicester would admit that the standard of player they want is someone like neilsen, but at the same time the rational fans amongst us realise that, given our position financially and footballing, we are unlikely to do any better, and quite frankly, could have had a lot worse...
Lillehamring Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 Welcome to you have 1 group invitation I hate Leicester City because our keeper is beaten from range far too often, the back 4 as a unit is jittery and it's distribution is woeful, center midfield is so easily over run that we have to deploy a third central player in a 'narrow' right position to help out, our left winger blows hot and cold for no obvious reason, our center forward is past his best and slowing down game by game (but if we play the long ball he has to play) and his partner is a one trick pony. Accept Ignore
skinnydipper Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 Opinions are one thing but this Neilson thing smacks of bloodsport He'll be aware of the witch hunt and I doubt it will improve his confidence There's other players in the team who aren't performing without the same levels of criticism But then there's always some supporters who need a scapegoat. I can only imagine it makes them feel better about themselves
