Bert Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 Was very close to leaving. New contract signed I believe, but cannot say for sure.
Unabomber Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 Was very close to leaving. New contract signed I believe, but cannot say for sure. That comes as a bit of a shock. Any idea where he was close to going Bert?
dandannieldanok Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 That would have been a real blow to lose him, Villa by any chance?
El Furio Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 I'd prefer it if we sold him. Goes missing completely far too often and doesnt look like he's imroved at all over the last couple of years.

Bert Posted 15 January 2010 Author Posted 15 January 2010 That would have been a real blow to lose him, Villa by any chance? I believe so. glad the deal is signed! Not 100% sure.
Edmund Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 Nice to see us keep a player who has made it through the academy. Definitely has it in his locker to become a living legend at Leicester. Always forget that he's only 21. Not surprised the big clubs are sniffing around.
lcfc_jme Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 Villa probably wanted him to show Delph how to play football. Glad he's staying though. Maybe staying. Probably staying. Sort of thing.
dpjfox Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 I believe so. Not 100% sure. we need kingy young and improving (thats why clubs are chasing him , who else have we got others want?
Guest nathan. Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 Villa probably wanted him to show Delph how to play football.Glad he's staying though. Maybe staying. Probably staying. Sort of thing. made me giggle
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 I hope he satying for a long while yet. Has real potential.

Houdini Logic Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 If he doesn't want to be here then let him go

I'd have thought King would have been part of that deal unless Villa unstitched Delph from his pocket. Maybe that's why Kingy's still here. Last seen here!
Guest Bilo Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 If he doesn't want to be here then let him go He had Aston Villa, an established Premiership club with arguably the best chairman-manager combination in the league as well as regular European football, looking at him. What young lad's loyalty wouldn't wobble with that prospect? The fact that he seems to have turned Villa down and signed a new contract at a club that has only recently been promoted to the Championship speaks volumes about the lad. Delighted he stayed and think he has a big future not only with us but in the game as a whole.

El Furio Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 ok now i KNOW you are a wind up! Sorry but I genuinly have never rated him. I've had a season ticket for the last 5 years and go to most away games. Last season he looked ok but still nothing special. I know he scored a load of goals last year but even with that I still didnt particularly rate him. Sorry
Guest Bilo Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 And let's hope that is the case, but my statement still stands - If he doesn't want to be here then let him go. I agree that any player that doesn't want to be here can do one, but my point was that he turned down a Premiership club (and a damned good one at that) to stay here. If he was 'very close to leaving' for another Championship club or a piss-poor Premiership outfit I'd be more worried about his loyalty. I imagine most players in the Championship, and a good few in the lower reaches of the Premiership, would see their club loyalties wavering if tempted by Martin O'Neill and his Champions League push. It doesn't mean he wants to go, it means he was understandably tempted by the riches of Villa Park but commendably loyal to the club that turned him into the player he is today.
ousefox Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 Glad he hasn't left and hopefully he will be here for a while yet.
Shipman Out Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 King. Or Kingy as you shockingly write it is USELESS can hit a ball from edge of box THATS ALL HE EVER DOES! A perfect example of why we are not good enough yet to get out of this League or string passes together. The fact he is rated is seriously beyond me. Its crazy how scoring 2 or 3 goals can get you rated as a player.
Jon the Hat Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 Commendable loyalty by the lad. I really genuinely hope he does not regret his decision and gets Prem Football with Leicester.
