teblin Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 Andy bond Skysports.com understands a trio of Championship clubs are chasing Barrow hot-shot Andy Bond.Leicester, Peterborough and Preston are all thought to be keeping tabs on the 23-year-old's progress. Bond has caught the eye for Barrow and he impressed in his side's run to the third round of the FA Cup. The 23-year-old showed glimpses of his talent in Barrow's third-round defeat to Sunderland and scouts have been flocking to watch him in action. Bond came through the ranks at Crewe before joining Barrow in 2006 and the Blue Square Premier League side are unlikely to stand in his way if a league club comes calling for his services.
Hitesh Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 We could do with spending the wages towards some experienced (not necessarily old!) centre backs IMO rather than forwards. I'm all up for looking towards the future and keeping an eye on youngsters I think thats best left for the summer rather than the Jan transfer window!

Tbh I personally don't see the point in looking for experienced centre-halves, we've got 3 that are more than capable in that position, seems like a waste to me. I'd much rather the club be looking at players like this guy.
Lillehamring Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 23 and playing for barrow....hmmmm--- sounds like he had a good game in the fa cup and the papers have just picked some teams out of the hat our lack of goals has nothing to do with our strikers, we have enough unproven forwards here, thanks very much...
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 Best striker in that division is Chris Holroyd, if we're going after any forward from there, it has to be him. Cardiff_Fox will agree.
StanSP Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 Best striker in that division is Chris Holroyd, if we're going after any forward from there, it has to be him.Cardiff_Fox will agree. I agree too! If FM is anything to go by, Holroyd will be quite successful here Maybe on same scale as Morrison's success.
suffolk fox Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 More Crap journalist speculation! Rather we sign Brooke Bond or even Basildon!
CosbehFox Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 23 and playing for barrow....hmmmm--- Beckford broke through non league at the same age. Holroyd's the lad at this level but read Poyet wants him for Brighton.

He's a midfielder I think.
Dan Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 For starters I have no idea where all the assumptions that he is a forward have come from? He is actually a central midfielder. A Barrow fan I know says he is a tough tackler, gives absolutely everything hes got in every game, and would be absolutely gutted to lose him. I think its worth a punt, he's hardly gonna break our bank is he.

So a younger version of DJ Campbell?

eastendfox Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 I've seen him play quite a few times, prior to him moving to Barrow. Good attacking midfielder, combative, but really not sure he'd make it at championship level.
CupidStunt Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Nigel pearson is never going to sign a unknown player at this stage of the season, not one thats any good anyhow
David Guiza Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Is he the guy who kept blasting shots in from anywhere against Sunderland, forced Fulop into a couple of decent saves?
Leicfox Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Nigel pearson is never going to sign a unknown player at this stage of the season, not one thats any good anyhow From the Mercury. City were yesterday linked with Barrow AFC midfielder Andy Bond. Barrow joint-manager Dave Bayliss has told the North West Evening Mail that City are among several clubs considering a move for the 23-year-old former Crewe Alexandra trainee."Championship clubs are interested in Andy Bond and there have been a few approaches," he said. "Leicester is one of them, Preston is one, and there are a few more as well. But they have to make an offer first, and no-one has made an offer."
