Babylon Posted 28 January 2010 Posted 28 January 2010 Doesn't take a genius to see it coming after what has gone on here before. Some people are always gagging for things to go wrong, they seem to get more joy from focusing on the negatives than the do any positives. If you set the bar too high, you'll always be disappointed because it will never be reached. If you're realistic about your expectations you'll get so much more joy from supporting a team like Leicester.
Jon the Hat Posted 28 January 2010 Posted 28 January 2010 There is only one solution to this recent cluster of defeats. We need to redouble our efforts in training.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 28 January 2010 Posted 28 January 2010 No comparison really, theyre a bloody good (and expensive) side and we are not Exactly so. They also have a manager who knows what he is doing. Without spending on quality players like Forest, we are doomed to stay at this level for the forseeable future. Not a pleasant thought.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 28 January 2010 Posted 28 January 2010 Agree with it all.Except Kermo did win a great flick on to an instant Dany N'Guessan goal with Swansea. So in that respect he's 1-1 with Howard who won the flick on that lead to the instant Waghorn goal at Coventry. But Howard has played a lot more than Yann, and is a lot older, and slower, and moans a lot so Yann should still be in the frame. Suck his tits abit don't ya MD?

You don't need to throw cash at it, remember we got promoted whilst in administration and with a transfer embargo, but it does help certainly.

Shrenchel Posted 28 January 2010 Posted 28 January 2010 You don't need to throw cash at it, remember we got promoted whilst in administration and with a transfer embargo, but it does help certainly. Completely different league. ITV Digital has just collapsed, everyone was fvcking brass. I think Pompey were the only club that spent over a million quid that season and most teams were shipping out any decent players premiership clubs would take.
marbelladave Posted 28 January 2010 Posted 28 January 2010 It's back to square one, redouble our efforts and bounce back on saturday! Cliche thursday indeed..... :) I would be much happier to accept our current situation if I thought we had a decent fist of things this season. There is plenty of talk about the need to spend more money to progress but before we do that I would like to see us making the most of the players we have. A fair number of our players simply have not been given the chance to show us their best, in fact some have been hopelessly exposed by our tactics. Nielson - a competent if uninspiring full back turned into a liability as an attacking wingback. Wellens and King - decent midfielders with attacking potential bypassed by balls hoofed over their heads. Dyer - a good winger born down and worn out by excessive defensive duties. Gallagher - a creative and dangerous forward marginalised on the flank. There are other examples but you get my drift............ :dunno:

One major thing that is a thorn in my side is that many people have these observations, why does NP refuse to adapt the style of the team to cure these issues? Stubborn!?

maddog Posted 28 January 2010 Posted 28 January 2010 I suppose this is NPs second full season as a manager and maybe he's worried about failing early in his managerial career and ruining it so doesn't want to take risks, doesn't want us to end up in the promotion race because then he may get sacked next season if we aren't there again, doesn't want us to win games, doesn't want us to go up. He just wants safety. What a load of fooking bullshit this post is, completely ignore it. I'm just bored so think of random things and type them.
Fox You Forest Posted 28 January 2010 Posted 28 January 2010 Let's be frank Not sure about that but some of the folk on here need to call Frank. 0800 77 66 00.

I think you were speaking some sense up until the bold bit , I can see the logic in trying to use what's been successful in the past. At the present moment, it's not working. However, in the first three months of the season, it was very effective.
marbelladave Posted 28 January 2010 Posted 28 January 2010 But he did, and they weren't a stunning success - and everyone bitched like fuck about them. Remember the gnashing of teeth about our wonderful foray into 4-3-3? When exactly was that, I must hove nodded off. We tried some bizarre diamond and 4-2-2-2 rubbish, but 4-3-3, I don't think I have ever seen us play 3 frontmen. Anyway while we continue with hoofball, the system hardly matters!
Fox92 Posted 28 January 2010 Posted 28 January 2010 I am really angry with the side at the minute. Ok, we have come up from League 1 and are sitting 8th which is not bad, but come on, we were once 2nd and have slipped. And once you are up there, you want to stay there. FFS, Blades were 15 points behind us at one point and now they are 3 infront. Players arn't playing at the moment either and thats what does my head in. You watch players like Rooney and Gerrard that fight for the club, and there is none of that at Leicester at the minute. I imagine that everyone will remember the days of Taggart, Elliot, Walsh, Lennon and even Izzet obviousley who all used to fight and show some passion, but that seems a millon miles away now. There is none of it. For instance, at Barnsley, I saw Matt Oakley back out from several tackles which is horrible to see, ecspecially on a cold Tuesday night with dear ticket prices. Also, Nigel is playing several players out of position. Can't we just go back to Wingers? Gallagher is perhaps, technically, the best player at the club, but, Nigel insists on playing him out of position and it is annoying. Same with Oakley when he goes wide right. Another annoying thing is our set pieces. Now, is it the staff that tell the players to do it, or do the players just softly float a corner or free kick in on purpose? Ok, I am not a big fan of Hume, in fact I hate him for leaving us after relegation, but his corners were magical. They were wipped in a pace and causing danger to Weale, who flapped at them everytime, hence the goal. With Hume's deliveries, one of the Barnsley players just needs to slightly touch the ball and it'll probably be dangerous for us to defend. With our set pieces, they are floated in and then the recieving player has to put some effort behind his neck to even go close. Since, Morrison's beautiful goal from Oakley's corner against Sheffield United, our set pieces have been, well, poor. Of course, we need some new players. Certainly a striker and a left back. I, like everyone else, am hoping to see something better than the last few games, against Newcastle on Saturday, even if we loose 6-0, please show some fight and passion boys!
ras Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 How do you see the situation at the minute? I've got a few points I'd like to raise. Please, stop playing strikers on the wing, we had enough of this square peg, round hole bollocks under Holloway. We've got two strikers who are fantastic in the air that thrive on balls into the box, and the strikers to pick off the scraps the target men leave. So lets get some balls into the box. We need to get back to the simple things, we were doing it at the start of the season, so what's gone on now? Also, me must start taking our chances because it's looking like it could cost us dearly, it already has in a few games this season. In all due respect to Barnsley, we should be coming back with at least a point from there. I dread to think what the outcome would it have been if we'd have been playing Newcastle, Forest etc. No player should be on the team on merit, which at the minute a certain few are. Act like you want to play for the club and put some effort in. This doesn't apply to everyone, but we need 11 players busting their gut to do their best for the club. Howard. Stop moaning because your inability makes you miss. Stop moaning when you get took off and stop acting like a fucking baby when things don't go your way.
lcfc_sam_p Posted 3 February 2010 Posted 3 February 2010 The problem is when you've spent a third of your transfer budget on said player, you'd look rather silly not playing him due to having two better strikers (Fryatt, Waghorn).Maybe I'm wrong and Pearson genuinely rates him higher than Dyer/Adams/N'Guessan as he sees them on the traing ground day in day out but personally I think it's illogical and becoming apparent more and more after each game. I'm in the minority but I'd love to se DJ back. Would make an ideal impact sub especially when the opposition defence starts to tire. i definitely would love to see him back, our only striker with genuine pace and offers something completely different to all our other strikers. hes proven he can score goals at other clubs but he needs a run in the team to do so. The issue is though that we simply don't have enough options in key positions.Midfield is the best example of this. Who do we have for central midfield? Oakley, Wellens,King. if these three were injured/suspended who would we play in central midfield? I would say that at least two of these are not worth their place week in week out but who else do we have? everyone seems to be havin a go at oakley, hes doing the best he can out of position. hes not a winger and thats why hes not doing well. when he plays in the centre he looks good. his natural position. i think especially at home games we should be playing 2 wingers, getting the ball wide, attacking defenders and putting quality balls in to the box. we will need to spend to go up, il be amazed if we went up with the current squad. Also we seem to fill the team with old players, need to get some younger players in. the newcastle game showed we can play football, only when howard isnt on the pitch though, we have a tendancy to hoof the ball to him everytime we get possession.
Guest Posted 3 February 2010 Posted 3 February 2010 i definitely would love to see him back, our only striker with genuine pace and offers something completely different to all our other strikers. Like the ability to be offside even when it looks like a physical impossibility
The Doctor Posted 4 February 2010 Posted 4 February 2010 Like the ability to be offside even when it looks like a physical impossibility fryatt sometimes showcases this ability as well - fortunately for Fryatt he has redemning qualities e.g. wasn't playing much in 07/08 season just got on with it rather than whinging about how "the manager is so cruel by ignoring him..." or Ability to actually score more than 5 a season and go more than 5 games without an injury.
