General Smuts Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 Monstorous. Loved that. Drank all the beers and eaten all the pork scratchings. EPIC.
General Smuts Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 Superbowl has hooked me for life. The last 2 years have been monumental. A tradition has been formed.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 This final quarter has turned the game into a classic. On a par with last year definately. Classic? Not really. Last year's wasn't fantastic either. Pleased the Saints won but wasn't gripped by it as a contest at all.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 I've been watching plenty of American football in the last few months. My moneys on the Saints they've been playing some great football during the play offs and i expect them to win in a low scoring game. Yep go me
Ford Super Sunday Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 My pants need changing. Is 74 yards further than the Steelers ran in last year? I believe that was a 99 yard TD return last year, I recall it was intercepted in the end zone. Oh and But the best team won, and you have to be one hell of a twatbag to not feel happy for the Saints fans. The Colts defence just couldn't cope with that offence, it really was 'knife through butter,' especially in the second half.

davieG Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 Congratulations to Sean Payton. Leicestershire gridiron fans will recognise the man plotting success for New Orleans Saints in tomorrow's Super Bowl XLIV. Head coach Sean Payton had a spell with Leicester Panthers in 1988. He arrived in this country from Eastern Illinois with quite a reputation as a quarter-back, having set numerous college records, and did not disappoint. Arguably one of the best players ever to feature in this country's domestic league, he connected with his receivers for 21 touchdowns and ran for eight more. Payton helped Panthers to the national play-off quarter-finals but was unavailable for the clash with London Olympians after accepting a coaching role at San Diego State University. Without him, Panthers lost 27-15. Since then, the 49-year-old has enjoyed spells at Indiana State, Miami University, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants – where he reached the 2001 Super Bowl – and Dallas Cowboys before being appointed head coach at New Orleans in 2006.
Leicfox Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 What a game, thrilling from start to finish. Every drive you thought was gonna end in a touchdown. Feel abit for Payton Manning as he was great all game, and that pick off was a bitter pill for him to swallow. Drew Brees, omg he was the bollox, he completed 32 of 39 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns Defining moment of the game the call for an onside kick at the beginning of the 2nd half by Sean Payton. Takes some bollox that and it payed off. Great victory for the city of New Orleans. Im going to have to get to a game definately.
lildave3 Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 You know how much I hate Kobe! Shame I can't say the same about Aaron Brooks
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 AWESOME!!! Think over the course of the game that onside kick probably was key, but looking at the 4th quarter alone that missed field goal seemed to dent the colts confidence massively I think that the missed field goal came as a result of the overwhelming tide that was turning against the Colts. I imagine some of the players could feel that although many expected them to win, not many wanted them to win. The only disapointment for me was that the game didn't get decided by the young Saints kicker - no kicks +40 yards before the game and he slots 3 good ones - and then the oldest pro shanks to the left. He was just one of many MVP performances. (Thought Vilma and Shanley were imense in defence)
Smudge Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 My son was at the game, 42 yard mark seven rows back behind the Saints bench I think he's still hammered.
Uncle Albert Posted 9 February 2010 Posted 9 February 2010 Your son is a lucky boy! Just remembered this thread, managed to watch the whole game and was loving it at the end, not that I wanted New Orleans to win but their celebrations were absolutely class! Coults first touchdown was brilliant, to equal the longest drive in Superbowl history says it all. Had my favourite little snacks with me aswell to get me through the game, just wish I could have watched in HD. Oh yeah and btw that Queen Latifa was bloody awful singing, thank god the other bird saved her when she sung the national anthem (by far the best national anthem around).
