Mike the Metal Ed Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 Was it a flare or just a smoke bomb? Cos I never saw a flame. Either way, if only they were more commonplace around the country.
Simi Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 If people do happen to know who did it then use a bit of common sense and do not go around shouting it out for obvious reasons.
sbfox Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 Were they `Flares` or `Oxford Bags` ;0) After a google... Terrible, terrible joke. Much groaning and head-banging on the desk at my end
fatmando Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 If people do happen to know who did it then use a bit of common sense and do not go around shouting it out for obvious reasons. Yeah, I bet the old bill will come down hard on anyone caught doing it.
leftsideoverhere Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 Did look good on the stream feed though. Very continental. Just like the football. Err, never mind.
Guest ttfn Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 Just cos it was continental doesn't mean it was good - we have a different football culture here. I thought it was pathetic.
purpleronnie Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 Just cos it was continental doesn't mean it was good - we have a different football culture here. I thought it was pathetic. Yeah because everything thats a little different is pathetic. Its a bit different, a bit of colour, how can that be a bad thing?. Fair play.

That's not what I said is it. This was just particularly pathetic. 1) There's a reason you're not allowed stuff like that in grounds 2) Just because it's different doesn't mean it's cool. In foreign countries they also sacrifice animals before games and throw scooters on the pitch. Doesn't make it cool. If this is what passes for 'creating an atmosphere' then it's a sad indictment on our fanbase. In fact, I thought the whole episode was embarrassing. 'Ooh look at us we've just scored let's pretend we're fooking Galatasaray'. If I saw any other club's fans doing that I'd think 'what a bunch of morons'. I may well be in the minority on this one, but I'm happy to be.
Joe. Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 I thought it was funny to be honest. I just hope they show it on the Football League Show.

Just because european fans use it why on earth is that a bad thing, to think the fan with a flare did so to act like a galatasaray fan borders on the ridiculas. And no, from reading thier forums they thought it looked good....so far anyway. Always amazes be that anything slightly different from the norm creates such hostility, closed minds.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 If Mr X wasn't thrown out the ground, or the Copper's didnt know it was Mr X, Mr X will not get in trouble
CosbehFox Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 I thought it was funny to be honest.I just hope they show it on the Football League Show. Same here, nothing wrong with something a bit different.

Its not a case of 'creating an atmosphere', its just 1500 fans going a little bit crazy. I know some on here do like to try and create that Continental atmosphere, and fair play to them. Even if you're not like that, its just a bit of fun and something different that's created by our fans. I mean come on, the Walkers has given our fans a pretty bad rep - we're deathly silent at home and most teams probably think about us as being not particularly exciting. this might change that a bit. I mean, it looked brilliant on the stream, people jumping up and down, singing, arms in the air, smoke all around us.... Yeah, it was good.

Thats the attitude Everyone seems OTT nowadays, anyone acting a little different has to be jumped on, its just a little fun...thats all.

People with flares hasn't been welcomed into English Football. I wouldn't welcome it at the Walkers. If someone in SK4 let a flare off, He'd get thrown out, Banned for life, And he'd never be able to support or buy tickets for the club he loves again. Would I be happy if someone let a flare off? It'd Gas us all out, people would be struggling for breath around C1 and C2. Mass Panic would ensue like a bomb's gone off. I'd rather just watch the football. As for thinking we're like "Galatasaray" is abit stupid. Why would we want to be some turkish side, where there fans are hooligans. If your up for letting flares off all the time, throwing stuff on the pitch, go to Turkey, and support them. As for 'Creating an atmosphere' It's more like creating a scene, and getting attention. It's moronic. I'm not a killjoy, Far from it, I love abit of fun, But aspiring to be like Turkish yob's is dreadful. What must you think of Leicester City? (Yet another opinion, I'll get e-screamed at)

Karljohn Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 Oooh it was like Red Star Belgrade all over again.

I bet a lot of Continental fans look at the English games and think, (can't do the accent) 'Whassa goin on, there's no atmosphere ere', where's da flares, are de Eenglish jost a bonch of pussywhipped F.A. beetches? Whatta bonch of morons.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 I love away matches. But this could stop *Ahem* from ever watching Leicester again. (I doubt this) I love to sing, shout, scream at lcfc matches. Just think a flare is OTT. Aspiring to be Turk's who are hooligans is stupid. And as for "letting flares off all the time", one flare, at one game - and the last time was how many years ago? "Banned for life", "gas us all out", "struggling for breath"...? For fook's sake, get some perspective. What you'd have been like twenty years ago when people used to smoke while watching the game I dread to think.
