I disagree - you don't get booing at rugby matches, it is way more positive than that, and I don't know what rugby matches you've been to but the ones I've been to beat a bad day at the Walkers any day, hands down. Oh, and they didn't have goal music to 'help' the fans either...

I like a great atmosphere at a game, I just don't think you have to be attacking the opposition fans to get that atmosphere...

I have been a fair few Rugger games and there are plenty of idiots there. I seen Bath fans making 'slit throat' gestures.

You get the arses what boo or whistle when the opposition are taking a kick.

Plus it all goes silent for long periods.

It's becoming more Prawn Sandwich than Football look at the ticket prices.

Plus the French sides do flares etc....

and flares smell like an angel's muff?!

The ones in Spain reeked worse than any cancer stick I've ever smoked.

I couldn't smell fook all on Saturday and I was 2/3 metres away.

For a full on continental fan base support, were going to need

a) flares

b) Someone (or more than one) with a megaphone

c) Massive flags or massive replica shirts

d) some kind of mass tickertape reception in both halves

e) In serie A they always seem to have some kind of bomb like stuff too (all you can hear is the massive bang)

f) maybe smokebombs in blue

g) people need to jump like loonies too as they sing

hey presto, an atmosphere that wouldnt look out of place in serie A, la liga, Turkey, anywhere in eastern europe

h) Police/stewards to fuck off and get proper jobs/catch actual criminals.

i) Football Club Health & Safety Officers to be exterminated.

I was right next to it. It hit my mate on the leg. The stewards didn't have a clue. They all just stood there and watched. I didn't see it being set off though, i was too busy piling into everyone in the aisle celebrating lol

Loved it when they mentioned the flare on the radio! I hope that you lot get some more going soon, would be good to see a few more all at the same time. I notice they didn't show it on the highlights, very disappointing.

Would of been excellent under the roof in the Kop at Filbert Street on a night match :D

This is great, especially that the police did nothing!

There are some right tw@ts in this thread! Not everything in life that is against the rules is bad, try them sometime

A lot of people like to go to the football, follow their team and have a good laugh in the process. This can be done in many ways and that person who let the flare off on saturday did just that. I could understand the criticism if they had pissed in someone's face or shat in a pie. It's not even as if the 1600 fans walked away with 3rd degree burns. On too many occasions our away support is spoilt by bores. I actually got told to sit down at Cov this year for joining in with the old stand up if you love Leicester chant, I also recieved a severe tongue lashing for standing up whilst celebrating during the Crewe match at the end of last season. Sometimes it makes me wonder why some people bother going to football. Oh and also, the setting off a single flare was not the decleration by City's fans that they are now in fact a set of anglo-turkish hooligans.
