z-layrex Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 Usually I'd agree with you...But, lighten up for ****s sake! Its not a case of 'creating an atmosphere', its just 1500 fans going a little bit crazy. I know some on here do like to try and create that Continental atmosphere, and fair play to them. Even if you're not like that, its just a bit of fun and something different that's created by our fans. I mean come on, the Walkers has given our fans a pretty bad rep - we're deathly silent at home and most teams probably think about us as being not particularly exciting. this might change that a bit. I mean, it looked brilliant on the stream, people jumping up and down, singing, arms in the air, smoke all around us.... Yeah, it was good. Couldnt agree more.
Guest ttfn Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 1) Health and Safety gone to the extreme. IF you can prove it's actually dangerous then fair enough.2) I seriously doubt that. Which part of 2 do you seriously doubt. Goats and pigs are ritually sacrificed in Turkey before the start of a new season. In Italy a scooter was thrown towards the pitch in an Inter v Atalanta game, look it up. This is not the point anyway, the flare was just shit.

I wasnt aware cruelty to animals and a smoke bomb at a footy game is the same thing?
C.J Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 I expected afew people on here to get carried away with this. Anyway, to whoever it was, well done on getting one over on health & f***ing saftey. Can you find a blue one for next time please?

Can you find a blue one for next time please? Not so sure you can get them seeing as flares are, in the most part, used by people out on the sea and so need to stand out against the water and in gloomy conditions. Blue smoke bombs, on the other hand, are a lot easier to come across... Video looks quality, by the way.

Edmund Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 Looked brilliant, harmless and a bit of fun. at the overreactions in here. You'd think that a nail bomb was let off judging by some peoples comments.
C.J Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 Ok then, sure I've seen other colours that orange though. Whats next then, a horses head thrown on the pitch?

Some people seem to have a perpetual hardon for this bloody flare malarkey
DB11 Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 Found that on Youtube. Looks awesome before it gets put out. That looks quality
Edmund Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 Thing is, it ain't just negative overreactions is it? Some people seem to have a perpetual hardon for this bloody flare malarkey True but you can't blame them really. A lot of guys are envious of the terrace atmospheres abroad and rightly so. It may have only been a flare in some peoples eyes, but for those guys who are determined to create a foreign style atmosphere, they made one step in the right direction of creating an atmosphere they've dreamed of even if it was only for a few minutes. No harm was intended, let them be happy Looks like the Blackpool fans were liking it, off their forum : Although I thought they were the biggest gobbyXXXXXXs to visit Bloomers this season, they did their job very well. Not only did they sing throughout the game, they managed to wind up the home fans and intimidate Ollie at the same time. The flare after their second goal was a fine touch and added to the atmosphere. Your right,it was a good atmosphere best set of away fans, liked the flare, first one at bloomers?
Des. Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 Arsenal have just set one off against Chelsea aswell
MikeyT Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 Arsenal have just set on off against Chelsea aswell Damn you beat me to it!
Guest Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 I didn't mind the flare; nice open stand like that is an invitation for such things. However, the flare that Red Star Belgrade set off at Filbo resulted in me having an asthma attack, and missing most of the first half (Stan Collymore asked if I was ok, as I was being lead to the medical room). You can see me being walked back to the Kop just before Taggart equalised

purpleronnie Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 Seems these things are in the increase probably after seeing the Manchester derby. Heard about a few smoke's being let off lower down the leagues too. I like it, bit of colour, bit different.

Went Oxford yesterday and they have big foreign-esque flags such like plus a relaxed attitude to standing. Seriously a better atmosphere than a Tuesday night down the Walkers. Plus it was all in an awful, horrible all-seater. Just to say as a 16 yo I went Poland to watch some Speedway, they do similar stuff there. Incredible sight with the smoke bombs etc. and this wasn't connected with violence. Families, couples, lager louts all in the same section.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 As long as no-one uses the sort of flare that killed that old boy when Wales played Romania a few years ago I'm sure we'll survive. The main downer on it though is that if they become popular again, won't this mean getting searched all the blooming time when going into grounds? My mate Sid spent the whole of the Leicester vs Pompey play off game at the City ground all those years ago in some sort of subterranean holding pen after getting caught trying to sneak a smoke canister in down his jeans. Oh how we laughed
Guest Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 Didn't the flare also cost us a goal if I remember correctly? Sure one was thrown on the pitch and engulfed Flowers goal. Yip. Even we could barely see what happened! Admittedly, I was almost on the floor coughing up my guts.....
