maddog Posted 21 February 2010 Posted 21 February 2010 By Tuesday it will be 2 weeks since the drab 0-0 draw at the Walkers Stadium against Doncaster, TBH if offered a 0-0 draw right now i would probably take it. QPR ended their losing streak with a 2-1 win to Doncaster yesterday, so our lead over them increased. We are 8 points clear of them, so a win here would see us 11 points clear and for me end Doncasters hopes of catching us up. If we assume Sheffield United will win their game in hand at P'Boro which isn't guaranteed, that would put them in 7th place, goal difference behind us, but we will have games in hand. As it stands should we win Tuesday we will have a nice 6 point cushion over the Blades with no games in hand left. It's a massive if but if we can go on a three or four game winning streak in the next couple of months it will seal our top six place. The only way we can throw this away now is if the opposite happens and we go on a three or four losing streak which hasn't happened all season and lets hope it stays that way. Perhaps even more important a win will put us above Cardiff after their loss at home to Barnsley and only a couple of points behind Swansea, Cardiff will have a game in hand on us though but we would rather have the points in the bag. Pearson may consider making a couple of changes having named an unchanged side for the last few matches, some players may need a rest after playing Tuesday, Saturday, this Tuesday and then a fooking huge game Saturday at home to Forest, our last chance to give us hope of catching them up this season. I'm sure he will stick with the same defence, but Solano, Kermo, N'Guessan will be pushing for a starting place. TBH i would rather see Shitty Steve Howard play Tuesday night and not on Saturday against Forest, although he will go on score Tuesday then and end up starting against Forest so best not play him at all. This game is going to be a tight affair, if we can put away our chances i think we will win this one 2-1, Waghorn and King on the scoresheet. However failiure to put it away will probably result in another 0-0 draw or even a 1-0 defeat, either way it will be close. Still 2-1 win for me and one step closer to the playoffs
Mort Posted 21 February 2010 Posted 21 February 2010 The usual drab Tuesday night game and 1-0 to Donny... with any luck now I've said that we can go and hammer them 3-0
acooling08 Posted 21 February 2010 Posted 21 February 2010 Tuesday night games are always shit and devoid of any quality from us so Donny will probably win.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 21 February 2010 Posted 21 February 2010 1-1 We dominate then they score a lucky goal to snatch a point.
lavrentis Posted 21 February 2010 Posted 21 February 2010 Voted win, just like every game this season.
AoWW Posted 21 February 2010 Posted 21 February 2010 Where's the option for 'game won't happen - called off due to snow/frozen pitch'.
caz05 Posted 21 February 2010 Posted 21 February 2010 Where's the option for 'game won't happen - called off due to snow/frozen pitch'. You took the words right out of my mouth
Guest DavidJCW Posted 21 February 2010 Posted 21 February 2010 There are rather a lot of ifs and buts in that opening post... nothing is by any means certain and even a winning run of 4-5 games isn't going to guarantee anything. Let's just focus on this game and try and pick up the 3 points instead of always looking over our shoulder at who might or might not be catching us. I went for a win as I think the new formation is working and hopefully the players will be up for it following some good performances, just not the results.
Guest DavidJCW Posted 21 February 2010 Posted 21 February 2010 Where's the option for 'game won't happen - called off due to snow/frozen pitch'. The pitch is unlikely to be frozen as the temperatures during the day will be getting above freezing... however, if the forecast is to be believed, there could be some heavy snow on the way so it could well be called off due to that.
Guest Bilo Posted 21 February 2010 Posted 21 February 2010 Not sure about this one, Donny can be a tough nut to crack on their own turf and this is the third away game in a week. Having said that, they showed nothing against us at the Walkers and have had some poor results at home including a 4-1 home defeat to Middlesbrough and a 2-1 defeat to struggling Reading, so they can be beaten there. A lot will depend on how we approach the game, an attacking formation probably giving us the best chance of winning. If we play 4-5-1, a dour defeat by the odd goal beckons. 1-0 Donny. If we play an attacking 4-3-3, a narrow 2-1 win with goals from King and Dyer being the deciders.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 21 February 2010 Posted 21 February 2010 Hopefully we win. Unsure as it seems that most of our Mid week games end up as draws
Dames Posted 21 February 2010 Posted 21 February 2010 2-1 - Waghorn & Dyer. They'll get one in the last 10 minutes and give us quite an uneasy finish.
maddog Posted 22 February 2010 Author Posted 22 February 2010 The weather forecast for Doncaster tomorrow afternoon is sunny intervals and about 5 degrees so unless their grounds staff are a bunch of total ****wits then this game has got to be on. And yes i am an expert in the field of ground.
CosbehFox Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 2-0 please. Donny have three players I don't like - Brian Stock for his assault on Fryup, Billy Sharp for being a diver and Elliott Ward for being a cock.
Fox92 Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 Tuesday nights usually let us down + plus their a local side to me + some of my mates support them = defeat. Or, We will dominate and score early on, thinking we'll hammer them. Then, we'll not take our chances and they'll score a scrappy goal which their fans will celebrate like its the World Cup final like at S****horpe. Basically, we won't win. Defeat or draw.
The Doctor Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 2-0 win, may not be spectacular but 3 points is 3 points regardless of how many we score or how well we play - a concept that, judging by some of the comments on the moan in, our fans haven't managed to grasp.
Maybes Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 Got a feeling of a citeh win tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
