Bruce: Waghorn not for sale

Boss Steve Bruce sees reported Leicester target Martyn Waghorn as a key part of his squad for next season.

Sunderland chief Steve Bruce won't be parting company with young striker Martyn Waghorn on a permanent basis, safc.com can reveal.

Media reports had suggested that the frontman's current loan club, Leicester City, were lining up a permanent move when Waghorn's loan spell in the Midlands comes to an end in May.

Waghorn has impressed at the Walkers Stadium and has stepped in admirably following an injury to top scorer Matty Fryatt, scoring seven times in all.

Bruce has been watching the 19-year-old's progress closely and insists the Academy product will be a key part of his plans on Wearside next season.

"There's been no communication between myself and Nigel Pearson and [a move] won't come into the equation," he said.

"We sent him there to get some experience - a bit like Jordan Henderson - and the kid's doing very, very well indeed.

"I wouldn't entertain a permanent move. Next year I have him earmarked as being one my strikers because I have been delighted with his progress.

"I don't think a move is a goer."

Anyway after reading all this shiite, Waghorn is out of contract at the end of this season so fork u Brucie, see you at the tribunal!

Can't believe waghorn's only 19! he looks about 30.

All for the idea of joining mackems forums and saying he's shit and actually supports Newcastle

Also pretty sure that Fergie said he wouldn't sell Real Madrid a virus, but then Ronaldo goes to them after all!

Shouldn't this thread be moved into the 'loan watch' thread?

Can't understand Nigel wanting to sign Waggy on a permanent deal?

He's pretty shite as a strker, and he's overweight which implies he's a lazy sod. Never worth £1m

He's worth £250k tops.

Bruce should snap Citys hand off if he is offered £1m for him.

Memo to Nigel: Junior Lewis is now out of work, sign him up before his gay sidekick Mr Taylor takes him with him to Bradford, he plays like a Brazilian! Bring a touch of class to Citys midfield.

YES YES YES! Sign him up ASAP!

I REALLY hope he does decided he wants to come back here and play fairly regularly instead of being a fringe player at Sunderland... he'd be a FANTASTIC acquisition!

EDIT: Just read the extra bit about Bruce wanting to keep him and use him as part of his front line next season... F**K!

If I were Waggy I'd seek one more year at least at Sunderland. Worth a shot at breaking into their team for him, seeing as it's his local team and all.

I can't see him starting next season for Sunderland as ahead of him are Bent, Jones, Benjani, Campbell and then there's healy (even though he's on loan) and murphy to contend with.

Does anybody else want to post the link from the Sunderland OS? Go on, you know you want to...

*The next person to do it is an actual ****.
