Daggers Posted 4 March 2010 Posted 4 March 2010 I'd love to know what Steve Bruce thinks to this approach.
bluebeau Posted 4 March 2010 Posted 4 March 2010 Hes brilliant for the team... hes clearly not lazy, he puts in 110% every game without fail. Sorry pal but you obviously don't know how to spot a decent striker. If he's not lazy, then why is he so fat?
Cat Burger Posted 4 March 2010 Posted 4 March 2010 If I were Waggy I'd seek one more year at least at Sunderland. Worth a shot at breaking into their team for him, seeing as it's his local team and all. He'll be a barcode coming from South Shields surely?
Corky Posted 4 March 2010 Posted 4 March 2010 I can see why they want to keep him, especially for their promotion push next season.
Ash Posted 4 March 2010 Posted 4 March 2010 If we are willing to pay £1m for Wellens then id pay £2m for Waggers!
whitlock Posted 4 March 2010 Posted 4 March 2010 Changing the subject slighly and saving starting a whole new topic for a quick question, Does anyone have any idea when the 125th anniversairy bricks are to be put up around the ground? Cheers.
martinkop1 Posted 4 March 2010 Posted 4 March 2010 ... permanently.Let's hope Sunderland stay up http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/sunde...72703-25961421/ he's only here to get first team experience, he may be in sunderlands plans next season, it's up to waggy to put pressure on sunderland to sell, also if sunderland go down , which i doubt, they may have to sell the players on bigger contracts .
Tony Pine Posted 4 March 2010 Posted 4 March 2010 yeah it seems like he's scared they'll go down..so he'll sell jones and bent, and then waggy will start with frazier campbell
ozleicester Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Why would waggy want to play in the 2nd division with Sunderland, when he could be playing premier league with us?
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Sorry pal but you obviously don't know how to spot a decent striker. If he's not lazy, then why is he so fat? Are you Genuine? In the games i've seen he has done nothing but work his arse off
Foxhateram Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Are you Genuine? In the games i've seen he has done nothing but work his arse off Amen to that. Obviously Bruce is trying to up the price. This always happens, x (in this case x = leicester) club makes an enquiry then y(in this case y = Sunderland) makes a statement saying "so and so is not for sale". This therefore brings to the attention of other clubs that this guy IS for sale at the right price so and so goes to some big club for silly money. y club laugh their way to the bank. As much as i would love to see Waghorn play here next season. I just cant see it
The Padster Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Sorry pal but you obviously don't know how to spot a decent striker. If he's not lazy, then why is he so fat? Massive FAIL. Sure hope we manage to pick him up in Summer, especially if we gain promotion. If we don't then hopefully he'll be able to tear The Championship a new one next season !
lukielcfc Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 IN TODAYS MERCURY Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has ruled out selling striker Martyn Waghorn to Leicester City. Waghorn has been a big success during his loan spell at the Walkers Stadium. Speculation was building on Wearside that City boss Nigel Pearson was set to make an offer to secure the 20-year-old striker's services permanently in the summer. Bruce, right, said he had already earmarked Waghorn, who had his initial loan agreement extended until the end of the season, as one of his first-team strikers for next season and insisted he will be a key part of his squad. "There's been no communication between myself and Nigel Pearson and a move will not come into the equation," said Bruce, who has been closely monitoring Waghorn's progress this season. "We sent him there to get experience and the kid is doing very, very well indeed. "I wouldn't entertain a permanent move. Next year I have him earmarked as being one of my strikers because I have been delighted with his progress. "I don't think a move is a goer." Waghorn has scored seven goals in 32 appearances, 16 as a substitute, and Pearson said Waghorn had been a pleasure to work with. "I have not had a conversation with Steve and I can't elaborate other than to say he has done very well here," said Pearson. "We would love to have him here but whether that is do-able, I don't know. "People can speculate on it but it is not something I am in a position to go into in any great detail at the moment. "Suffice to say, whatever happens it has been a great experience for him and he has come a long way. He has done tremendously well. "If all players were as easy as him to work with then my job would be easier. He is eager to learn and he brings that youthful enthusiasm, as well as being a useful player. He has done exceptionally well for us."
Guest Mee-9 Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Anyone thought about holding Alex Bruce hostage, then demanding Waghorn as a ransom?
davieG Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Anyone thought about holding Alex Bruce hostage, then demanding Waghorn as a ransom? It's been suggested in this topic
MPH Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Anyone thought about holding Alex Bruce hostage, then demanding Waghorn as a ransom? That will only ensure that Waghorn stays with sunderland
Corky Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Can't understand Nigel wanting to sign Waggy on a permanent deal? He's pretty shite as a strker, and he's overweight which implies he's a lazy sod. Never worth £1m
Cobbo Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Sorry pal but you obviously don't know how to spot a decent striker. If he's not lazy, then why is he so fat? I don't know whether you're trying to get a reaction out of people, or are just a bit mental. But Waghorn is stacked, not fat. Quite a difference. Jan Molby was fat, Neville Southall too. But Waghorn is not. In regards to Bruce's comments, fair enough he's their player, but stranger things have occurred in the transfer market. We'll take Darren Bent off their hands next season.
Cobbo Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Also, will a mod please change the bloody commar in the thread title to an apostrophe, it's doing my nut in.
davieG Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Also, will a mod please change the bloody commar in the thread title to an apostrophe, it's doing my nut in. Commar changed.
lou Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Also, will a mod please change the bloody commar in the thread title to an apostrophe, it's doing my nut in. Commar changed. Right.... now can you change Cobbo's spelling of Comma, as thats driving ME mad!!
Mickey O'Neil Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 let's do a false flag operation. pretend to be mackems, sign up and say he's shit and 'we' should sell him.it can't fail. Can't understand Nigel wanting to sign Waggy on a permanent deal? He's pretty shite as a strker, and he's overweight which implies he's a lazy sod. Never worth £1m He's worth £250k tops. Bruce should snap Citys hand off if he is offered £1m for him. Hes brilliant for the team... hes clearly not lazy, he puts in 110% every game without fail. JamesJamerson - Read the top one again, the 2nd one will make more sense then mate
Cobbo Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Right.... now can you change Cobbo's spelling of Comma, as thats driving ME mad!! Oops. Any taxi numbers?
Simi Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Bullshit is Bruce considering him as one of his strikers next season. Milan put up the cash.
