Got to admit I want to spend a day at Manchester Airport now I've finished my exams, but I bet nobody will come with me. (Nobody is interested in aircrafts like me). Don't fancy going alone.

A A380 flew over low a few weeks ago actually, that was good.

This is the place you need to go to plane spot.

First ever time I saw a picture, I thought the plane was photoshoped because it was that low, but I did some reading into Princess Juliano Airport and couldn't actually believe it (still can't - they are very low).

Thought it was air from the nozzles in the wingtips, nose and tail?

Interestingly, the B52 used water injection to get more thrust on take off.

(Does TBJS read this thread?   lol )

Bad times !!

Interesting news story about that crash.

He wasn't the most responsible pilot in the air force...

Finally raised from the sea bed

Cheers. I think I heard a bit about it on the news as I was getting in and out of the work van (the interesting stories never seem to be on when I'm actually driving - not that I ever drive more than a couple of hundred yards before stopping.) and had forgotten about it. Amazing that it's the last exampleof it's kind, but I guess after the war, on both sides there was much more need for resources than machines of war, or did we demand that Germany's war machines were dismantled, as the victors?

I would guess that what wasn't destroyed in the war was probably scrapped for raw materials in post-war rebuilding. I read that a lot of designs, (tanks, u-boats)  were taken and used by the Soviets to improve their own equipment. German navy vessels were mostly sank or used as target practice by the yanks. This Dornier was only discovered in 2008 I think so there's probably other stuff out there close to shore.

Going to be quite a task to stop the corrosion on this Dornier now its above water, up there with preserving the Mary Rose I would think.

  • 2 weeks later...

I spent Saturday afternoon on a boat, about two miles from RAF Coningsby.

Just so happens it was Armed Forces Day, so the BoB Memorial Flight were up and down all afternoon, as were a load of Typhoons. Got treated to a personal airshow including several low flybys.

Splendid!

I saw the Typhoon fighter jet at an airshow last week. Awesome thing.

To demonstarte it's agility the pilot made a really tight turn to create two rings of vapour in the aircraft's wake then turned back and flew through them before they disappeared. Truly amazing to see.

I've tried to get a photo of the Typhoon on here but for some reason, I cant paste.

Wish I could have been there. Two days ago.

Only airworthy Lancaster

It flew by when I was at Calke Abbey the other week.

Unfortunately, I only got a glimpse of it through the trees, which was gutting as it was pretty low.

Heard it coming though - sounds fantastic. I could tell it was old, and probably quite large, so I should have guessed what it was (I didn't)

A 777 takeoff is the best takeoff I have ever been in. 2 RR engines powering an absolute beast, the takeoff was immense when I was in one.

Managed to sit in the Birmingham tower for a few hours a couple of years ago. Watching the Emirates 777 taking off from their was something else.

Yeah, i've got some addons, Ultimate Traffic, REX etc.

Just trying to master the PMDG 737-8NGX, i'm a bit worried about going on VATSIM and just getting in the way haha.

I bought the Saitek Pro Yoke, quadrant and pedals and I can't imagine the game without it now!

PMDG do good aircraft and its not too fps intensive

Guarantee you wont be in the way on vatsim, there are guides as well

I used to have that as well. Christ, makes me want to buy them again.

Good yoke that is for single engine props vfr flying over the country.

I would highly reccomend FsPassengers if you are into realism for airliners
