It's the Victory Show in Cosby this weekend.  I've never been to it, but seeing as I live in Cosby, I don't feel I need to.  I'm interested in the aircraft, but not watching grown men play war.

It's a bit of a strange one living here - there's bunting all over the village, shop windows taped up & German Officers in the chippy buying a battered sausage.

Nothing will ever beat the Vulcan bomber flying at a few hundred feet down our street & directly over my head with the bomb doors open.  The Vulcan has gone, but I'll be keeping a lookout for the Lancaster this year.

A list of the aircraft on display

If we had broken lockdown rules we would be sitting in our caravan not too far Bournemouth airport runway. We'd have seen an A400, the same two NHS liveried Airbus A340 planes coming and going from China with PPE, an RAF Hawk, plenty of British Airways planes that aren't normally here finally going up, plus the usual Ryanair, private jets and light aircraft. But obviously we're still at home in Wigston observing the rules

There's loads of BAs at Bournemouth atm for storage, I'm talking 787's etc.

https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/18343840.bournemouth-airport-unprecedented-amount-planes-parked/.

I went to Doncaster Robin Hood a couple weeks back, it's not far for me, and there's 747s/A330's (among others) lined up. Never seen anything like it before. Got a few decent photos.

I didn't realise until I noticed Virgin Atlantic's were flying over, which is a rare sight, and then had a look on the internet for more info and that's where they'd been flying into for storage due to Covid/pulling out of Gatwick.

Yes we were surprised to see all the BA's here, apparently there are a couple of 747's here too but we can't see them from the road side. We're used to seeing the usual Ryanair 737's but the A340's are impressive from an airport of this size. I really hope we get to see a 747 take off while we are here, we're both working and while the weather is good we're planning to stay for a few weeks at least

Shame about the 747s but they would have all been retired by 2024 anyway. Hopefully 1 or 2 can be saved for museums or cargo conversions. All the BA 747s are currently parked at Heathrow, Cardiff, Kemble and 3 out in Spain somewhere. Get pics while you can before they get scrapped.

Unless they've moved them recently there's been a few of them parked up at Bournemouth airport too. We haven't seen them from the main road side but we might have a drive round the other side to find them.

Here's a list that was posted on another forum this morning, also includes aircraft reg. If they were at Bournemouth looks like they've been moved. The ones marked negus and landor are the ones with the retro liveries. The ones at Kemble have had all engines removed, theres also an aircraft scrapping firm based there :(

Heathrow (9) : G-BYGF, G-CIVB (Negus), G-CIVD, G-CIVE, G-CIVH, G-CIVI, G-CIVK, G-CIVP, G-CIVY.

Cardiff (14) : G-BNLY (Landor), G-BYGA, G-BYGB, G-BYGC (BOAC), G-BYGD, G-BYGE, G-BYGG, G-CIVC, G-CIVF, G-CIVO, G-CIVU, G-CIVV, G-CIVW, G-CIVZ

Teruel (5) : G-CIVA, G-CIVR, G-CIVS, G-CIVT, G-CIVX

Kemble (3) : G-CIVJ, G-CIVL, G-CIVN

The USAF Thunderbirds or Navy Blue Angels appear each Labor Day weekend at the Cleveland Air Show.

For many years, my office was in the corner facing N and W at about 300’ -- unobstructed view over Lake Erie where they perform, at exactly the height where they do their level flying over the lake and through the city.  An unbelievable “loge” for their Thursday and Friday practice runs.

Perhaps because my organization generated those pilots’ paychecks, they used to pass the building at -- no exaggeration -- 50 feet.  You have never jumped out of your skin until you have been buzzed that close by an F-16 you didn’t hear coming round the corner!  Deafening even through plate glass.  You only saw them for a split second, but those pilots seemed close enough to shake hands.

Unfortunately I got mostly mediocre pictures on my phone, but the memories will remain absolutely vivid!

Thanks, yes I've just checked and the ones that were tracked arriving earlier in the year here look as though they're now either at Cardiff or Heathrow according to the list

When I landed back in Heathrow last year, the 747-400 I was on parked next to the BOAC (G-BYGC reg you've listed). Beautiful sight.

The 747 is by far my favourite plane, gutted it looks like I won’t be flying on one again :(

Don’t other airlines fly them? I’m sure I went on one to Cambodia with Thai Air.

Yeah. BA have the most though. They are pretty iconic with BA for me.

They are becoming less and less unfortunately. BA were the anomaly with them being the mainstay if their fleet, everyone else really only has a handful these days.

Korean air have some of the new types which I’d love to fly on, but only on certain routes. Unfortunately to get on one of these birds again you’d have to plan a special flight.
