I remember driving out with my grandad and watching the Vulcan on it's first ever flight since it's retirement. What a sight! Saw it again at an airshow a few years later, still gives me chills.

Just out of interest...

Does anybody hold/training for the PPL or above?

I was back in '08-09 but unfortunately the money ran out and then life got in the way, then I kind of forgot about it.

But recently, i've picked up the bug again. Probably because I work on the short finals to a large airport and I get bizjets and boeings going past the window everyday.

Although the cash still isn't there (thanks mortgage) I'm still trying to figure a way of earning a bit extra to get my ass back up in the air, the bad news is I sold all my gear years ago so would need a new headset, bag, books, charts, computer etc.

(Appreciate this is probably, slightly, the wrong thread but I'm not expecting it to go far so hopefully it's acceptable rather than start a new one)

Vulcan's last flight today. Just landed. Very sad, especially with it being such an iconic (and my favourite) Aircraft.

Just hope somebody one day with loads of cash will get it back up in the air again.

That's a shame. I saw the Vulcan when I was 10 yrs old when it flew low over my school (Northfields Junior) in 1964. It was the most breath-taking thing I'd seen and fuelled my love for big powerful awe-inspiring aircraft.

Russia in the news lately but I really do love the Tupolev. I'll give them that. (Ah man, that sound on the video!).

If I had my time over again, I'd go for a pilot's licence either fixed wing or helicopter, fixed wing being much favoured. Just to be in the air. The closest I've come is a one hour flight in a Cessna where I was allowed to have some control. I was so made up!

In my dreams I'd be a fast jet pilot, not necessarily military but I guess that's where I'd end up.  But just to fly would suffice. Sadly I'm too old now and the CAA wouldn't give me a licence.

Good luck YotF. I hope you make it. Even flying routine repetitive back-to-back commercial flights would be a reason to get up in the morning.

Thanks. Being a commercial pilots always been my dream job, but even if it doesn't get that far this will be a good (and expensive ?) hobby

Thought this is the most relevant thread topic to put this in.

Australian investigators investigating flight MH370's disappearance admits it's unbelievable it has never been found despite extensive searches.

Must be extremely harrowing for the family after a few years since the incident occurred and now the investigators now admit the search is now more-or-less over.

My Step-Father recently acquired a new plane earlier in the year, Cessna 182 (exactly as picture shows below, though in dark red instead of dark blue). Smooth experience and strong in high-winds.

I must admit, I opened this thread expecting to find pictures of stewardesses     getting rodgered on airoplanes.

But to to be fair, after my initial disappointment I have found it all quite interesting.

Wouldnt now mind finding a documentary on the history of aviation if anyone knows a good one to watch??

Lancaster Bomber just come over mine on way from Lincoln! Beautiful scenes

They do sound great, but the merlin engine in a spitfire is one of the sweetest sounds on this planet.
