Weale 5 - I don't recall him having a single shot to save but unfortunately it was his mistake that led to us losing the match. Made me very nervous when ever he got a back pass.

Morrison 5 - Not a great game.

Hobbs 7 - Brick wall as usual, dominant in the air, solid on the ground.

Brown 5 - HOOF. Also had a go at Leicester fans at the end. Add to that his comments about us not being very loud.

Powell 7 - I thought he was one of our best players today. Showed McGivern how to play. He was confident, excellent positioning and fantastic composure. Lack of pace didn't affect him.

Oakley 3 - Awful.

King 5 - Poor game by his standards. I like him a lot but today he was just 'invisible', although I guess he is having to do Oakley's job on top of his own.

Wellens 7 - MOTM, had a couple of good chances and hit a quality strike in the first half. Cracking work rate.

Dyer 5 - Just couldn't get into the game.

Waghorn 5 - Frustrated.

Kermorgant 5 - Offered nothing.

Gallagher 6 - Lively when he came on. Some good deliveries.

N'Guessan 6 - Offers pace, strength and a threat in the air. Must get a run in the team.

Howard 6 - Won his headers and won some free kicks. Was a threat and showed passion and determination which was lacking.

Pearson 2 - Clueless. No passion. What did he say at half time? I think he is holding MM to ransom over his new contract.

City fans were better than I expected. All stood.

Derby fans are awful.

Weale 5 - Poor error, nearly did it again in the second half!

Morrison 5.5 - Not one of his best games

Hobbs 7.5 - Probably our best player, solid throughout.

Brown 5 - Caught out many times and just hoofed the ball every single time.

Powell 6.5 - Had a decent game to be fair, much better than McGivern but we need Bruno back ASAP!

Oakley 1 - I've said it before and I'll say it again, don't know why he's in the team.

King 5.5 - Was nowhere to be seen really, but unlucky with the own goal.

Wellens 7 - He looked like the only player who could make the difference.

Kermorgant 3 - Useless.

Waghorn 6 - The balls played to him were awful, he can't run everywhere! Was unlucky to be brought off but had no service whatsoever.

Dyer 6 - Worked hard but wasn't at his best.

SUBS

Howard 6.5 - Did ok when brought on, him and Gallagher definately made a difference.

Gallagher 6.5 - Same as above.

N'Guessan 6.5 - Was impressed with him today, even though he didn't get long he looked lively.

Pearson 1 - Got the tactics all wrong and I think I saw him on the touchline once. Didn't even come to the supporters after the game.

Weale 5 - Aside from the stupid error, did very little

Morrison 6 - Poor passing, backwards or hoof

Hobbs 7 - Very solid

Brown 5 - Bad pass, got skinned a few times. Not good.

Powell 7 - Surprised by him.

Oakley 4 - Bad passing, not competitive, lackin all round

King 5 - Can't remember much about his performance

Wellens 7 - Bit of hunger, and some decent attempts on goal. MOTM

Dyer 6 - Tried, but was no good

Waghorn 5 - Poor free-kicks, not his fault, gott no service

Kermorgant 5 - Had no way in.

Substitutes:

Howard 5 - Offered little, but chased down, showed some willing

Gallagher 6 - Bit of skill

N'Guessan 7 - Honestly, only player that seemed like scoring. Skinned his full back twice. Play him from the start.

Weale - 5 - Had nothing to do apart from the goal which was ridiculous, why he tried to take a touch in the first place i don't know but he has been a top performer this year.

Morrison - 5 - Non exsistant don't understand why he was moved in the first place though.

Brown - 2 - All he can do is header, and what he did after the game was disgracefull if he never played again i wouldn't care.

Hobbs - 6 - Motm for what it counts i thought didn't do alot wrong.

Powell - 6 - Usual game gave the ball away a couple of times but to be fair i don't think he was signed on to play these kind of games.

Dyer - 5 - Lost his consistancy, lacked positional discipline and didn't make a single run.

Oakley - 2 - Usless utter rubbish, his passing was shocking, if you can't get fired up for a Derby against a former club towards the end of the season you shouldn't be playing football, and his applause was stupid.

Wellens - 6 - Got around alot to little effect i thought.

Kermit - 4 - Poor game again, i usualy stick up for the guy but i don't understand why he keeps getting games randomly.

Waghorn - 6 - Didn't see much of the ball, don't understand why he was subbed.

Subs

Howard - 6 - Passion was what was needed, much to late though.

Gallagher - 6 - Showed a touch of class but to late.

N'gussen - 6 - looked interested should start on tuesday imo.

Weale 5 - The error was unforgivable and ultimately cost us at least a point. That said, it's one isolated incident and he's still a quality goalkeeper whose been brilliant for us all season long. One blip's not going to make me see any differently, we all make mistakes.

Morrison 6 - Pretty solid bar one two minute spell where he got done over twice in succession.

Brown 5 - I genuinely fear when he's left to deal with a difficult ball on the ground.

Hobbs 8 - Another top drawer display in all areas.

Powell 7 - Under the conditions did well as expected. Did, however, give the ball away twice in poror positions.

Oakley 4 - Another drab performance. Gave the ball away on numerous occassions and generally did nothing of value. Didn't agree with his exit off the pitch either.

King 5 - Anonymous.

Wellens 6.5 - Got himself about, but also gave the ball away at times. To be fair though when he did have the ball there was a dismal lack of movement. Probably the most shots I've ever seen him have in one game, the one from range was a pearler.

Dyer 5 - Ran himself into the ground but the system just didn't favour him today.

Kermorgant 5 - Won virtually everything in the air but there was only Waghorn to aim for. I'm not sure we can accommodate him right now.

Waghorn 5 - Difficult to give him a higher mark because he just couldn't do anything. Completely left to feed off scraps, it was never going to happen for him today.

Subs:

Howard 5 - Drew a few fouls, and knocked down well for Morrison when he should have equalised from a corner.

Gallagher 5 - Unsure as to why he didn't start in the usual role, but we missed his creativity in my opinion.

N'Guessan 6 - His situation baffles me. Scored five off the bench so far this season and still can't get on the pitch ahead of the two above. What does he have to do? Came on and caused problems from the off, it's a shame the same can't be said for the rest today.

Chris Weale - Stupid mistake, but with the amount of times the ball gets played back to him, it was always going to happen sooner or later, just predictable that it had to be against Derby. 5/10

Michael Morrison - One of his poorer games, didn't do much. 5/10

Jack Hobbs - Solid again, our best player today along with Wellens. 7/10

Wayne Brown - Hoof Hoof Hoof, up to Waghorn, not Kermorgant. Very poor performance by him and I think his action with the fans after was a disgrace. 3/10

Chris Powell - Outpaced a couple of times but he showed McGivern how to play football, great effort. 6/10

Matt Oakley - Shocking, simply shocking. More bothered about Derby's fans than ours, and didn't look interested. 3/10

Richie Wellens - Good effort from him, lack of movement off the ball from others often let his performance down. 7/10

Andy King - Hardly touched it unfortunately, I've been a bit harsh on him this season but I often think Oakley is dragging King down with him a bit. 5/10

Lloyd Dyer - Didn't get into the game at all. To be honest, he was playing left midfield, rather than on the left wing, which I think made a big difference. 5/10

Yann Kermorgant - Went on one decent run, but not much else. To be honest I thought the service to him was appalling. 5/10

Martyn Waghorn - In fact, the aerial service Yann should have got went to Waghorn, who frustratingly couldn't do it. 5/10

subs

Paul Gallagher - Definitely made us more of a threat. 6/10

Dany N'Guessan - Even more of a threat than Gallagher. 7/10

Steve Howard - Won a good number of headers, unlucky not to score. 6/10

Weale 5 - One mistake that cost us the game.

Morrison 5 - Seemed to struggle.

Powell 6 - Never troubled, much more comfortable than RM.

Hobbs 5 - Out of position a few times, but that's because he had to venture into the midfield himself sometimes.

Brown 4 - Defended well. Can't pass.

King 4 - Shit.

Oakley 3 - Shitter.

Wellens 5 - Tried being fancy Dan too often.

Dyer 4 - Wasn't in the game.

Kermo 5 - Won everything in the air, as alaways.

Waggy 5 - No service.

Howard 5 - Looked better than he has done coming off the bench.

Gallagher 4 - Did little, offered little.

N'Guessan 5 - Looked up for it and gave them a few problems, needs to start Tuesday.

For what it is worth, my views from the East Stand.

Weale 5 Cock up apart, that was possibly the most jittery performance from him I have seen. Hopefully it is just a reaction to our constantly changing back line rather than the pressure getting to him... :fc:

Morrison 6 Another solid, if uninspiring, performance by an out of position centerback. Looked slightly fed up to be stuck out on the right, again!

Hobbs 7 Decent without ever being the commanding figure we have got use to seeing of late. Playing alongside Brown really does seem to affect him, and not in a good way.

Brown 5 Powerful in the air, puny on the ground, though he did well to help out Powell on 1 or 2 occasions. Distribution woeful as expected and he seemed to be having a go at his colleagues even more than usual. Looked to to be pretty fed up and frustrated even before the nonsense at the end, which I did not see as I was on my way out.

Powell 7 Only times he was caught out of position was when he got well forward and did not have the legs to get back, happened 2 or 3 times so if he continues to play he needs to be just a little more conservative. A couple of poor passes out of defence but with no one showing it was not all his fault. Otherwise solid and and much better than the alternative.

Oakley 5 Started brightly I thought, got forward quite well early on but faded badly after the goal went in. Clearly does not like being stuck out on the right after some improved performances (in the center) of late, strange decision to say the least. Last 2 or 3 games he has started to look very weary though. Got at by some of our fans, rather harshly I thought.

King 6 One of his quieter games, looked a bit 'down' after the goal, even though he did well to dispossess the Derby player and knock the ball back. Played deeper than usual and we missed his impact further up the field.

Wellens 7 Much better than of late, got box to box in a way he has not done for some time, even managed a couple of decent shots. A pity it was in the context of such an overall weak team performance.

Dyer 7 Quieter than his recent performances, perhaps because he was playing that bit deeper (to cover Powell?). When he did get forward he still looked the most likely to create something.

Kermorgant 5 A center forward asked to cover central midfield and to get forward and support Waghorn, was able to manage neither. Must be wondering what he has to do to get a game up front.

Waghorn 6 Worked hard but was isolated and almost completely ineffective. Needed more support and when it was brought on, he was taken off. Inexplicable unless he had a knock (which I did not see).

Gallagher 7 Brought a bit of class to our forward play but why on earth was he partnered with Howard who has neither the pace nor the instincts to get onto the passes that Gallagher can thread through a defense... :dunno:

Howard 5 Largely pointless. Did not look remotely like making an impact though he was clearly making a big effort to do so. Simply the wrong player to put on at that time.

N'Guessan 7 Barely enough time to get into the game he still managed to look the most effective of our strikers. Playing down the middle he posed a real goal threat, should have been on earlier (instead of Howard).

Pearson 4 The team was poorly set up from the off and he was simply unable to make any meaningful changes to our pattern of play. Bad back or not this was a poor day at the office.

My marks are not as low as some posters because I thought that most of the players played ok, not good but not awful either. I think they were let down by poor team selection and setup which resulted in us rarely being effective as a team.

Weale -5- No comment needed.

Morrison -4- Worst game of the season in my opinion, gave the ball away so much but options in front of him were limited.

Hobbs -6- Generally ok.

Brown -5- as above but passing terrible as usual.

Powell -5- I don't really get the high scores he's getting, he was ok in defence albeit against poor Derby attack, sliced ball out of play a few times and lost ball in attacking positions, things McGivern would be getting 0's for. Also, his general lack of willingness to get forward (not his fault) meant our attacking play was congested.

Oakley -4- Stuck up for him last few weeks but was shit on Saturday.

Wellens -6- Tries to find the passes atleast, always wanted the ball.

King -5- Barely touched the ball.

Dyer -5- Did nothing. No football intelligence at all, inside far too much, he can get away with that with Berner or even McGivern but with Powell staying back he should have realised he had to provide width.

Kermogant -5- Always a shit team peformance when he starts so got no service. Puts himself about but not alot he can do.

Waghorn -5- I don't think the effort was there as much as it usally is, should have stayed on though.

Howard- 5- Looked up for it, won his headers but never went to anyone.

N'Guessan -6- Should have had longer, looked dangerous.

Gallagher -6- Looked like he could have created something.

Are you mad?!

All we were doing from the 1st minute was route one and there was nobody there to flick it on as Kermo was getting outmuscled most times.

Howard won quite a few crucial headers that led to corners which we pressured them from which made Derby get worried.

Well after travelling 400 miles to see that shambles on saturday the 400 miles back seemed more like 4000. Abject disinterested and strangely lacking in passion. Utterly bizarre given the position we are currently in and it was against Derby. I would love to give a fair assessment of all the players but i just cant be bothered. Noone stood out but there were a couple of piss poor performances. Hopefully we will be at it in our next 7 matches. Come on Leicester.

Resorting to the long ball, is for me, a sign of panic. We set up to play 4-4-2 but with Dyer, Kermorgant and Oakley all required to perform onerous defensive duties we were reduced to playing it over the top for the isolated Waghorn or hitting it aimlessly toward the Derby back 4 in the vain hope of picking up the second ball.

Whilst Howard got his head to the ball on a few occasions, I cannot remember anything positive coming from his 'touches'. He no longer contributes much else and was totally the wrong partner for Gallagher who prefers the ball on the floor anyway.

Poor team selection and hopelessly outdated tactics were the problem on Saturday, frankly we have what golfers call 'the yipps' and we need to sort it out, and soon!
