Maybes Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 It is true what people are saying. He came over to the city fans at the end of the game - I think he was clapping the fans at first then a group of people from what I saw were flicking him the V's. He pointed at them and shouted you fooking wankers. <_<
Salieri Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 I'm all for players showing a bit of passion, but if he came over and abused the fans in such a way, then he's a total cock end. It was a poor performance and result, and he should show a bit more respect to the fans who paid good money to be there. It's gonna be downhill from here for you Wayne, so you should try to enjoy your time at a decent level of football while you can.
lifted*fox Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 Some of you lot need to step down of your high horses & wake up a little bit. Nobody forced any of you to pay £30 to go to Derby today. You made that choice. The result was going to either be a win, draw or loss. If you've deluded yourself into thinking that a win is guaranteed against an in form at home team like Derby then you've got nobody to blame but yourself for the disappointment you've suffered. I hardly doubt at this point in the season that any of our players are taking it easy. Possible promotion to the premiership is within reach, which is a pinnacle point in any players career. They're hardly going to think 'Ah right, let's go out & chill today lads, we've got it in the bag'. They want to be in a Premiership promoted team more than you want them to be, I bet. It's quite likely that our fairly young & inexperienced team are suffering from a bit of tiredness & possibly, just maybe, they're feeling the pressure a little bit? Doesn't that occur to some of you? Also, you all moan about how little passion the players show & when someone finally does show some, you have a cry about that too. Wayne Brown has played a massive part in seeing us to 4/5th position, as has Matt Oakley. I can understand him being upset when our fans have boo'd Oakley. Jesus Christ, how is boo'ing the team any better than him swearing at the fans? It's fooking not. Oakley isn't the best midfielder in the league, but he must be doing something right to have helped us get to where we are. Look at it realistically. We're 5th. A position we'd have all been MORE than happy with at the start of the season. A huge amount of you still have nothing better to do than belittle the team on here & boo them at the game. Anyone who can't understand why that would upset a player, is a complete moron. Get real for fook sake.
iancognito Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 You don't abuse your own supporters. He should be professional enough to handle criticism of him and his team mates and then turn in a better performance in the next game because of it. He moaned because we weren't loud enough against Coventry, which I didn't fully agree with, and then moans because 3000 of us pay £30 a head to watch him & his mates under perform again. Would he have given good money to watch that? Hardly and he'd have had a moan about it if he had. Maybe he should fook off back to Hull's reserves and see if the three men & a dog are more to his liking.

Anyone who can't understand why that would upset a player, is a complete moron. Get real for fook sake. If this wasn't so patronising you'd have a point. We have had a great season. Personally, I felt that top half would be a good effort this year at the start of the season. However, as time goes on, you can hardly blame people for getting their expectations up, otherwise we may as well not have bothered once we got to 55 points. However, your point about passion is total garbage. As has been said elsewhere, what sort of experienced pro shows 'passion' in such a way? In a footballing sense, passion is being proud to represent the club you're playing for and fighting for it. The passion people want to see is people fighting for every ball and generally looking like they give a shit, not shouting at the fans who (indirectly) pay the wages.
lifted*fox Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 Yeah but the thing you seem to forget is, Brown is just a normal bloke like the rest of us who has the job of kicking a ball about. We all get caught up in the moment & do things we shouldn't necessarily do. I doubt he was over the moon about losing the game & people boo'ing a team in 5th position. Yes these people are overpaid professionals, but THEY ARE JUST PEOPLE. Don't try to tell me you haven't sworn at someone who's upset you before - at home, in the car, in a public place, during a sport, during a night out, etc. Gah. Just get some fooking perspective.

Get real for fook sake. I'm more than happy with where we are, delighted in fact. What I have an issue with is how a professional player controls himself in public. Be angry about it, shit have a whinge to Tanner about it for more headlines, but don't mouth off at the people who directly or not, pay your wages. I understand he's upset, great, he's upset. Just shut your mouth and play better next time.
lifted*fox Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 The passion people want to see is people fighting for every ball and generally looking like they give a shit, not shouting at the fans who (indirectly) pay the wages. And, as Brown requested in his (rather silly - should have kept his mouth shut tbh) media outburst the other day, the passion the players require right now is a crowd of people behind them that sing no matter what the result & no matter how poor the game. We've supported City through darker times than a 1-0 loss at Derby when we've been 5th in the Championship right? 3-0 down at Sheffield Utd 2 years ago in the first 15 minutes? EVERYONE sang for the remaining 75 minutes of that game and certainly didn't BOO the team when it was over.

Sooooo, you're saying he was wrong to react in such a way? (Taking into account the 'heat of the moment') Yes?
Cat Burger Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 I have an issue with people being criticised for having high standards. Yes I would have taken fifth at the start of the season, but we are not at the start of the season any more. There is nothing wrong with expecting a performance from a squad we know are capable of beating a rabble like Derby. Not to get a performance in such game should be considered a failure. Pearson will be considering this a failure! Why can't we? Even if criticism is not that constructive, who wants to settle for second best, it's not like anyone involved within the club listens to fan advice anyway. If people are so sensitive to criticism I suggest you look elsewhere for discussion, try talking to your dog about how poor we were 3 years ago.
lou Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 Maybes got it spot on... Brown came over applauding the fans and got sworn at.... He responded by mouthing willy puller at him /them. I personally think it was a disabled-fest today. Fans who can't take the rough with the smooth can fook right off! Were 4th after just coming back up ffs!!!!!

Yeah, swearing at the crowd wasn't right, but the way some of you lot are reacting, it's like he came over and fooked you in the arse with a broken bottle. All this "I'll be singing you're not fit to wear the shirt", and "I pay his wages, he has no right" shit is absolute bollocks. What utter rubbish.

Corky Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 The fans have criticised him in the recent past, he criticised us in the press for our support last week. Fair enough. The fans today called him every name under the sun, he repsonded at the end with a few verbals. Let's draw a line underneath it all now, it's happened, we need to stick together and fans turning on players and vice versa isn't going to help.
lifted*fox Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 Go shaft him in his arsehole then ? Well done mate, quality response.
He's not bald Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 We are his customers...we pay for him to provide a service..If I insulted my customers when my team had provided a less than expected standard then I would not sware at them!...simples!!
C-man Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 Ha, I have no problem with him giving some verbals back to some fans if they flicked the Vs at him. They deserve it. As long as he plays for his team mates and NP between now and the season, I couldn't give a shit what he thinks about some of our more mongtacular fans. I'd love to be able to swear at some of our fans with the protection of being a professional footballer.

PAULCFC Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 Does tend to shoot his mouth off,but never at an away game ^ :-(
Guest nathan. Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 NOTHING gives you the right to call your own fans 'a bunch of wankers' ****** or not. Wayne your a ****
PAULCFC Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 Didn't see Wayne do that....but at the moment we all need to get behind the side
leftsideoverhere Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 NOTHING gives you the right to call your own fans 'a bunch of wankers' ****** or not. Wayne your a **** So is he (and by extension, every other footballer) your bitch, that you can call him whatever you are brave enough not to asterisk out, but he does not have the right to do the same? We don't own the players, whatever a lifetime of playing Football Manager might make you think. They are human too, and either they deserve respect and some dignity from the fans, or we lose our right to expect it from them.
