Brown at the end.

dont think brown should be abusing his own suporters if this was the case. however, i can understand his feelings too.

too often some fans can turn on the players. if we had gone 10 games without a win ok. sure, oakley has been inconsistent and so has brown, yes we played poorly on weds and yesterday but perspective

is key here. city have had a great season and, for me, if we end up finishing 7th, i will be very pleased. can understand that not being a popular opinion but given where we have come from and we are re-emerging as a club i think the players have done well overall.

Meant to add, I was too near the front to see who Brown was targetting for his tirade but it makes some sense what people are saying. It seemed to me he was looking up towards the area where the booing for Oakley had come from, but maybe it was more personal.

A couple of away games ago (can't remember which) I was fortunate enough to stand next to a little group who greeted WB at the final whistle with a volley of V-signs, swearing and demands he "fook off out of our club". No idea why they were picking on him in that game, so if they'd done that again, fair play to Brown for giving some back. His forward passing play was no worse yesterday than it's ever been, and in fact no worse than that of his colleagues, while he remained as solid at the back as normal - great in the air, less great when someone ran at him with pace. He was part of a back line which allowed Derby only a handful of shots on goal, and despite his age he is one of the players more likely to show fire and dermination. He was crucial to our promotion last season, and remains a key element in our success this year. After all, we're in the playoffs because of our mean defence rather than our free-scoring forward play, aren't we?

Is there anyone on here who is part of the little group of Brown-haters who would like to explain why they're spitting bile at him at the end of games?

I was pi55ed off with WB last week after the Cov game, sayin we wasn't loud enough.I sing my heart out week in week out and now he goes and calls the fans W@nkers! No need really and hardly a way to get people to get behind the team is it. I think he should he should either come out and explain his actions,if not then he will get even more abuse.

I think as some others have pointed out Brown is brilliant at blaming others for his own ineptitude the number of times he f**ks up and blames everyone else for his mistakes is ridiculous call it passion, call it leadership whatever you want, but it seems that Browns release is to shout and blame others for his own and the teams failures. You juts need to be careful who you start blaming

Posted

It does appear that blame never lies at Wayne's door, I remember mid season him having a series of arguements with Weale over a period of about 3 matches at home with him basically asking Weale to command his box better.

I find it bizarre that NP continues with Oakley as captain when Brown is clearly the one who opens his gob more than anyone.

If he was that upset he should have just trooped off, surely the biggest kick in the bollocks you can give back is to not acknowledge the support at all...maybe next time he should go and self analyze his own shit performance in the company of his team-mates.

Posted

this sort of bollocks has to stop from both sides else we're gonna slip further and further. he's obviously risen to the bait and now it's time for all fans to get behind the players (yes even Oakley, Brown and McGivern) and try and clinch a play off place. They're part of an overachieving side who've done us proud so lets be the 'bigger man' and put all this crap to one side.

Too many people now making comments based on hearsay or generalisations. WB didn't call "the fans" wankers. He came over, applauding, like he does after every game, but then, looking at one fan / a few fans in particular, got in a heated slanging match with them.

He wasn't blaming the fans for the game, global warming, starvation in Africa or anything else. He was have an argument, but doing it in front of 3,000 other Leicester fans. Smart? Maybe not. But there's no reason for everyone to get huffy.

Yes, he had a few games where he and Weale seemed to be struggling to gel. He works really well with Weale now, and was very definitely not having a go at him yesterday. Everyone wants to paint him as blaming others for his mistakes - how would any of us know if he was blaming himself? Should he wear a hair shirt under his city top, perhaps? Flagellate himself in front of the kop after home games? Beg forgiveness in the Mercury?

The gestures I see from him to other players are about a senior pro given encouragement and 'geeing up' team-mates, not particularly an attempt to direct blame. He's worked for Phil Brown, remember, he knows where that attitude leads. Indeed he's made a point of contrasting NP's management style with that at Hull, on precisely those grounds. Why would he emulate a management style he criticises in others?

Well I heard he pissed on a picture of nathan.'s mum, shagged Cornetto Fox's nan up the arse and punched He's not bald's sister in the tits.

Hanging is too good for him.

Wasn't it this time last season we lost to peterborough 2-0 and everyone was calling time on winning the league? :dunno: Agree with all sentiments that some of our fans need to get real and get behind the team. Can't just have a go at your own players for getting frustrated, wayne's reaction just shows that he was up for the game and v disappointed with the result. Loving the way certain people are pulling up his hull past, I wonder if matty fryatt ever made a mistake we'd all be chanting 'go back to walsall'

I think he's providing me with a great service. By calling these people wankers, it saves me the bother of having to do it.

Thanks Wayne

I'm not going to repeat my rambling crap from the Oakley thread. Suffice to say WB wasn't best pleased by the Leicester fans who booed their own captain off the pitch.

Perhaps the people demanding he be dropped for showing some emotion could have a word with those moaning about how none of our players are showing any fight, and work out what the fook we do want?

thats a bit harsh, wellens has been getting stuck in in recent games after spending a chunk of the season as a bit of a passenger.

Still if the fans he supposedly swore at were giving him abuse after he went over to the fans then he has every right to return the abuse.

Just all of you stop whinging about the most trivial of things and get behind the team - rather than critizing McGivern, Oakley, Kermorgant, Brown etc. for bad performances why not praise them for things they do well during a match?

Posted

So Wayne can have a moan at the fans by saying we're not loud enough, but as soon as he gets some stick it's not on? He needs to grow up a bit and realise what profession he's in. He also needs to realise that he's probably the main culprit for wasting possession, I don't think anyone gives the ball away as much as him, with his long, aimless hoofs because he can't pass. Even yesterday he had a simple 10 yard pass to make and he couldn't do that, and it left Derby on the counter as we were pretty high up the pitch. Too often he blames other people for his inability. Don't get me wrong, his defending is absolute top class.

Also, I still don't understand why he takes free kicks. Jack Hobbs has a better, techncial delivery than Brown's high lofted balls.

Why the fook would you stick the v-signs up at your own player, when he's made the effort to come and clap the supporters. Thats more idiotic than Brown calling the select number of supporters wankers. You pay £30 to watch your team, not abuse them. It seems as if many supporters just went because we were playing Derby. Agree with lou, when she said it was a Mongfest. I know I gave Mcgivemanothergoal a hard time on Wednesday, but to physically swear at your players, and to boo when your captain goes off is disgraceful. Without Brown and our Captain, where would we be? Not 5th.

I used to like Brown at the start as a player but he has gone down in my estimation. To be honest, I now think hes shyte. He's a right big head, reckons he's quality and his distribution is laughable. Put in some decent performances at the start of the season but since then has had some woeful appearances e.g. Forest, Brizzle and Sheff Wed. Should've seen him yesterday bellowing at the linesman about the ball going out when it blatently didn't and almost cost the side a goal. Then to call his own fans W@nkers sums up his intelligence.

Rant Over.

I can see both sides of it. When a selection of our fans boo'd our captain off the pitch, i dont think that was right because at the end of the day he plays for us, and he has bad games , yes, but he does have some good games in the heart of the midfield.

But when WB called some fans wankers i think this is wrong. People payed money to go on see the game and to see that horror show from a playoff team is not what you pay for. So i dont think WB was right calling us wankers.

I say put in behind us and keep behind the lads! :scarf:

If this wasn't so patronising you'd have a point.

We have had a great season. Personally, I felt that top half would be a good effort this year at the start of the season. However, as time goes on, you can hardly blame people for getting their expectations up, otherwise we may as well not have bothered once we got to 55 points.

However, your point about passion is total garbage. As has been said elsewhere, what sort of experienced pro shows 'passion' in such a way? In a footballing sense, passion is being proud to represent the club you're playing for and fighting for it. The passion people want to see is people fighting for every ball and generally looking like they give a shit, not shouting at the fans who (indirectly) pay the wages.

We might be happy with being 6th but expect fans to moan when in the league as opposed to the cup every time we take a big following the team lets us down . When was the last time we won away in the league when we took over 2,500 probablly the 4-0 win at Derby under Martin Oneil

In all fairness, Brown was probably just as irritated and frustrated as the fans. I know I was pissed off to the max after that game, so it's likely to apply to him too. I don't believe in booing players, and I've never booed one while at a game. I'll criticise them, but not boo - because it's deconstructive. I understand why he would be annoyed if a small group of twats taunt him, which looks like is the case. It isn't right that he retaliated, but if people provoke someone from the cowardly position of the crowd, you can't complain if he makes offensive gestures.

Reminds me of when people deliberately annoy a dog then complain when it bites their hand.
