Ford Super Sunday Posted 22 April 2010 Posted 22 April 2010 Marmite sues BNP over broadcast: General Election 2010Marmite is beginning legal action against the British National Party after an image of a Marmite jar was used on a political broadcast without its permission, the company said. The jar featured in the top left-hand corner of a video shown on the BNP's website. The firm released a statement saying: ''It has been brought to our attention that the British National Party has included a Marmite jar in a political broadcast shown currently online. ''We want to make it absolutely clear that Marmite did not give the BNP permission to use a pack shot of our product in their broadcast. Neither Marmite nor any other Unilever brand are aligned to any political party. ''We are currently initiating injunction proceedings against the BNP to remove the Marmite jar from the online broadcast and prevent them from using it in future.'' All because of the PEB posted below... which, let's be fair, is a televisual masterpiece... and those clearly unscripted remarks by the 'general public' are wisdom to my ears http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8_-vGMeCMw
Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 April 2010 Posted 22 April 2010 BNP and wisdom? Oh, and where are the black and asian war veterans? Where are the gurkhas? Oh yeah, I forgot, every single person who has fought and/or died for Britain was white. Their campaign leaflets are currently in my delivery office. Fortunately, as I do a different round every day, I didn't have to deliver them.

Guest Bilo Posted 22 April 2010 Posted 22 April 2010 I just thought it was proof that the Hate Party from the Marmite adverts really does exist.
FoxyPV Posted 22 April 2010 Posted 22 April 2010 I was wondering what that was doing in the corner - is it a subtle message from the BNP You either love us or hate us?

Lets be honest, there were very few black and asian people fighting for us in either world war as mass immigration wasn't occuring at that time. And the BNP have been outspoken about the horrible treatment the Gurkhas have recieved.
StanSP Posted 22 April 2010 Posted 22 April 2010 I was wondering what that was doing in the corner - is it a subtle message from the BNP You either love us or hate us? That's all I can make it out to be. I'm like a billion per cent for the latter.
lavrentis Posted 22 April 2010 Posted 22 April 2010 Apparently Marmite made a Hate Party advert which are obviously trying to portray the BNP. Then the BNP put a Marmite logo in the party poliitical broadcast to try and associate Marmite with the BNP knowing that it will have a negative effect on Marmite. Thats how make it, very weird.

And the BNP have been outspoken about the horrible treatment the Gurkhas have recieved. About 2.5 million Indian troops were fighting for the Allies in WWII because the Provinces of India (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Myanmar) were imperial colonies of Britain and thus controlled politically by the UK.
Webbo Posted 22 April 2010 Posted 22 April 2010 It's a shame Churchill can't sue as well, considering how much he despised fascists.

Alex beat me to it. There were literally millions of soldiers from all over the empire fighting for a land the overwhelming majority had never even laid eyes on. India lost 24,000 soldiers in the war, despite the country never being consulted as to whether or not its people wanted to go to war. As for pretending that the BNP support the Gurkhas, you were either asleep or putting your fingers in your ears singing la la la when Joanna Lumley was campaigning. This is the quote from Griffin at the time. "We don't think the most overcrowded country in Europe, can realistically say, 'Look, you can all come and all your relatives.' "When the Gurkhas signed up - frankly as mercenaries - they expected a pension which would allow them to live well in their own country." Support for the BNP insults the memory of each and every black or Asian solider who fell fighting for the freedoms we enjoy today. Not just them, but the Poles who kept the RAF flying after their own country had fallen. We would NEVER have won the war without foreign soldiers fighting for the British cause. Five minutes research would tell you that.
Kilworthfox Posted 22 April 2010 Posted 22 April 2010 I don't get it??? Why is there a Marmite jar in the broadcast, Has someone added this or what??? Bizzare <_<

And the BNP have been outspoken about the horrible treatment the Gurkhas have recieved. I simply can't find the words to reply, thank-you to those who have done so. I'll just post some figures as I think an actual structured argument outlining the deep ignorance of your post may be wasted: Allied soldiers killed Australia: 23,400 Brazil: 943 : 37,500 : 2,050,000 and : 210,000 : 88,300 : 4,000 : 7,900 : 10,000 : 123,000 : 6,840 : 13,700,000 : 264,000 : 292,000 : 300,000 TOTAL Allied soldiers killed: 17,117,883 Soldiers killed in attacked countries Albania: 20,000 Belgium: 12,000 (from 1944): 1,000 : 46,000 : 1,800 : 82,000 : 5,000 : 24,300 (from 1943): 17,500 : 3,000 : 27,000 (from 1944): 5,000 TOTAL Soldiers killed in attacked countries: 244,600 Axis Soldiers Killed Bulgaria (to 1944): 9,000 Germany: 3,500,000 (includes Austrians and Sudetengermans in German Army as well as other nationalities forced to join the Wehrmacht) : 200,000 (to 1943): 60,000 : 1,300,000 (to 1944): 290,000 : 1,200 TOTAL Axis soldiers killed: 5,360,200 Civilians killed Albania: 10,000 Austria: 125,000 : 76,000 : 10,000 : 7,750,000 : 294,000 : 2,000 : 5,000 : 2,000 : 350,000 : 2,760,000 (including perhaps 2,000,000 ) : 325,000 : 290,000 : 25,000 : 153,000 : 672,000 : 200,000 : 7,000 : 91,000 : 5,680,000 : 200,000 : 7,000,000 : 92,700 : 6,000 : 1,200,000 TOTAL Civilians killed: 27,325,700TOTAL people killed in World War II: 50,048,383 <a name="Reference">

BoneDog Posted 23 April 2010 Posted 23 April 2010 Never knew Russia lost that many. Me neither, I was shocked. Over 20 million in total.
lou Posted 23 April 2010 Posted 23 April 2010 Never knew Russia lost that many. Neither did I! knew it was high but thats staggering.... beyond comprehension really
Smudge Posted 23 April 2010 Posted 23 April 2010 My cousin, was a Battalion Commander of the Rajputana Rifles during the war, I think he'd be pretty offended by the ignorance of those who don't understand the bravery of those Indian soldiers who fought for freedom. Over the course of it's existence, the Regiment has won 6 Victoria Crosses.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 23 April 2010 Posted 23 April 2010 Fifty per cent of what B.N.P. say is bollocks. The other fifty per cent is the truth. Political correctness is a cancer, that is ever growing in our country, and immigration is a massive issue, that has failed to have been tackled. There is far too much complacency in this countr. both at Government level, and citizen level. I can well understand the older generation backing B.N.P., hoping to bring back some values of decency into this country, that have been eroded away. I shall not be voting B.N.P., but I can see where they are coming from, and they do speak some sense.
