bluebeau Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Keep the same basic team and maintain the momentum, only rest players that are carrying injuries. That's also my opinion. It's important that we win this game for confidence & keeping the winning habit in the team. NP doesn't take sentiment into his game plan, but if we are winning with say, 30mins remaining, it would be great to bring on Chris Powell as this is his final season as a player, & give the supporters the opportunity to show Chris their appreciation of him.
flanimal Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Weale Neilson Hobbs Brown PowellN'Guessan Spearing King AdamsKermorgant Fryatt Got to try and rest some players, if they got injured in the Middlesbrough game, it would be insane.
Lillehamring Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Rest EVERYONE possible, thus giving fringe players a full game to impress, and no risk of injuries to the key players for the playoffs. If these are all avaliable i would play something like this: Logan Neilson Bruce Brown Powell Solano Adams Wellens N'Guessan Kermo Gallagher Theres nothing to play for here and no reason to risk key players in this game. Boro also have nothing to play for. Looking down our squad though after resting a lot of the crucial players there isn't a lot left. wow, that team would still beat the team that we had last time we were in the championship!!!! i'm sure NP will speak to the players and see what they want to do, waghorn's miss sounded like the symptoms of a man who needs a rest. if fryatt is fit, i'd love to see him and kermo play upfront in a 442
MC Prussian Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Yes, give the fringe players some opportunites to show off. My starting eleven (4-3-1-2) for the Middlesbrough home game would read like this: Logan Powell Bruce Brown Neilson N'Guessan Adams Spearing Kermorgant Vaughan Gallagher Subs: Pentney, O'Neill (RB), McGivern, Morrison (CB), Solano (RW), Oakley, Fryatt
Guest Bilo Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Weale Solano Hobbs Brown PowellAdams Spearing King DyerVaughan N'Guessan SUBS: Logan, Morrison, Berner, Wellens, Fryatt, Waghorn, Bruce
Mav Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Logan Nielson Hobbs Bruce Powell N'Guessan Spearing Adams Vaughan Kermorgant Dyer Subs: Pentney Solano Berner King Fryatt Chamberlain Yussef. Key players need resting after such a hectic schedule and keep fringe players match fit.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Weale (or maybe even Logan but I'd expect Weale to start) Neilson Brown Bruce Powell N'Guessan Oakley Solano Adams Kermorgant Vaughan Subs: Logan, McGivern, Spearing, Dyer, Wellens, Fryatt, Gallagher
unreachable Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 The risk of injuries and suspensions wholly outweighs the argument for maintaining momentum. Winning a meaningless insignificant match for both teams won't be a great prize or raise morale - the players' spirits must be sky high and as professionals they will know that the Play-Off games are the *only* focus. I think this is the first post in this thread to mention the risk of losing a player through suspension - why spoil our plans with a sending off justifiable or not? NP has emphasised that he wants squad players to be ready and has already said on Radio Leicester that there will be changes so it is fanciful to think that he will play our first choice team. Berner, Wellens, Brown and Dyer have recently had niggling injuries so I can't imagine they would play. Logan Nielson Bruce McGivern Powell Solano Adams Oakley N'Guessan Kermogant Chamberlain
Guest ttfn Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Fryatt needs to play more than just a few minutes. He'll be fit - he's been in full training for a week and a half and light training 3 weeks before that. It's match sharpness he'll be lacking so he needs to come on at the break, if not then just after. He can be the difference in the play-offs - it's been a solid team effort without him but we might need that little bit extra class in the play-offs. I'd play: Weale Solano Brown McGivern Powell Spearing Adams Oakley N'Guessan Vaughan Dyer subs: Neilson Hobbs Kermorgant Fryatt Waghorn King Logan
Guest Mee-9 Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 It should be a strong side, people are paying their good money to watch Leicester city, Not Leicester city reserves. Weale Solano Hobbs Brown Powell Dyer King Wellens Gallagher Vaughan Fryatt Resting Morrison who picked up a knock, and Preserving Berners fitness.
Liamlcfc1 Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 got my tickets should be a good game bit of a party

Guest Mee-9 Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 What about the bigger picture? This is a meaningless match. What is your view on Spiderpig's original post? Full strength side 100%. We should just continue with the same side to keep the momentum going.
unreachable Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Full strength side 100%. We should just continue with the same side to keep the momentum going. I guess we're at the two extremes then. You're prepared to take the risk of injuries and suspensions. I've paid my season ticket for this season and next and have had my monies' worth - just don't want to spoil our Play Off hopes.

Agree with this,Boro player being taken down by weale and that would right fook us up in a meaningless match.Give the fringe players a go and see if their good enough

the buckwheat Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Weale Neilson Brown Bruce Powell Oakley Solano Adams Kermorgant N'Guessan Vaughan
flanimal Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 I'd be surprised if Weale doesn't play if he is able. He's one start away from being in every game, you'd think he'd want that. Rest Berner, and Hobbs. Wellens, Gallagher, Waghorn. I think Kermorgant should definitely start. This is his last chance this season to score a league goal - I'd be surprised if he plays much in the play offs considering he's not scored yet. To go a season without a goal is a bit of a confidence killer.
The Doctor Posted 26 April 2010 Posted 26 April 2010 Logan Nielson Bruce McGivern Powell Solano Adams Oakley N'Guessan Kermogant Chamberlain i'd think fryatt in for chamberlain and thats the team NP will play. Still maybe we'll see some of the youth teamers who've been so successful this year get their day in the sun.
dpjfox Posted 26 April 2010 Posted 26 April 2010 who are our "key men" i would assume Weale Hobbs Berner Wellens Dyer King Waghorn rest em
martyn Posted 26 April 2010 Posted 26 April 2010 Weale Neilson Bruce Brown Powell N'Guessan Oakley Spearing Adams Kermorgant Fryatt
FoxyPV Posted 26 April 2010 Posted 26 April 2010 Weale Neilson Bruce Brown Powell N'Guessan Oakley Spearing Adams Kermorgant Fryatt Swap Weale for Logan and I'd agree

Momentum will not be lost after one game fielding a weakened side even if they do get beat. I'd say also throw some of the academy players in and give them a run out. I can't see that by resting the first team momentum will go straight out the window. It means they will be fresh and in there prime come the semis.
