Salieri Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 The big question is......Should we : a) Play the best available team and thus maintain continuity/momentum? or b) Use the game to rest key players and try out some fringe players who could offer another alternative come the Play Offs?
dandannieldanok Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 Full strength to keep momentum and continuity in my personal opinion.
AmericanScott Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 Full strength please. I'm skint after getting tickets for this.
AmericanScott Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 Reckon it'll be a sellout? It was near enough when i went down ticket office thursday. Managed to get two seats together in sk4
Ozwin Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 Awesome, can't wait for it. Glad I've got a season ticket cos if I had to pay for this, playoff semi and potential Wembley final I'd be absolutely buggered for cash.
Legend_in_blue Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 This game has draw written all over it imo. I think Chris Powell should get a run out, I would definately rest Berner. Morrison took a knock as well today so play Solano at RB as well. Of the midfield, I would rest Wellens if possible. Up front, Fryatt has to be on the bench and must play around 30 minutes of the second half. How are we on the yellow cards front? Do these carry over into the play-off games?
AmericanScott Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 Really looking forward to it aswell. My girlfriend was the one who buggered me into getting us tickets. It's taken me nearly 3 years to get her interested in football and not Marton Fulop's ass.
ACF Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 We should rest a few players, blood a couple of young 'uns?
Ozwin Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 Perfect game, we've secured playoffs so we can give Fryatt a run out at last. Much better than risking him in a game that had loads riding on it.
Bryn Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 I think you wanna give a few players a run out in case anyone first line picks up a knock before the semis, like Pearson said you want the fringe players to be match sharp. Giving Fryatt at least half an hour is a reasonable shout, I don't imagine he's anywhere near the top of the pecking order for the playoffs but you never know if we might need him.
BoneDog Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 It's a no pressure game at the end of a tough season and we have at least 2 very serious games coming up the week after so I would definately rest most (if not all) of the team if it was up to me. Although it would be 2 weeks without a game for the players who are rested. Not sure if that would have any effect on their sharpness or not. It would be a great bit of experience for some of the youngsters if they were to get a chance. Is this Chris Powells last season as a pro player? If it is then hopefully he is in the starting line-up.
Mr Happy Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 Keeping the momentum is important I feel so rest a few of the players but keep several in the 1st team. Time for Kermorgant, Adams, N'Guessan and other sub players to make a start maybe??

We need to see the first choice players perform when relaxed - we could win by quite a margin in my opinion and this could result in confidence and further gelling. Keep 'em sharp, I say.

Keep 'em sharp, I say. Absolutely. I'd imagine, as has been said, we'll see Fryatt for half hour or so to get him some match time in before the playoffs
Jimmy Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 I'd give Powell a send off and a run out to either Adams or N'Guessan & maybe someone like Luke O'Neill too but that's about it
The Doctor Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 give fryatt a run out, N'guessan and adams should get a full game as well. Maybe give kermorgant a start and play powell.
JoeyB Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 this may sound a bit silly but i would start fryatt, just for the fact that if you bring him on with 30 mins left and he gets injured again its another sub, that way you can at least give him 45 mins. i would also give Waghorn and possibly King a rest
adamkhalifa Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Rest Berner (Most important player) for Powell (For the final league game) Morrison (Rest the injury) for Solano Fryatt (45min) for Waghorn (Don't want this guy to experience burn out, for the big games)
Tilley Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 I would rest one or two (Berner, maybe Waghorn) but keep the core of the team in tact, a good result here will give us momentum going into the play-offs.
kyleolly Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Weale Solano Bruce Brown Powell Adams Oakley Spearing N'guessen Fryatt Vaughan Subs Waghorn, Logan, Gallagher,King,Dyer, Hobbs,Berner
maddog Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Rest EVERYONE possible, thus giving fringe players a full game to impress, and no risk of injuries to the key players for the playoffs. If these are all avaliable i would play something like this: Logan Neilson Bruce Brown Powell Solano Adams Wellens N'Guessan Kermo Gallagher Theres nothing to play for here and no reason to risk key players in this game. Boro also have nothing to play for. Looking down our squad though after resting a lot of the crucial players there isn't a lot left.
davieG Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Keep the same basic team and maintain the momentum, only rest players that are carrying injuries.
Bert Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Weale Solano Powell (His last ever game) Hobbs Brown N'Guessan Dyer King Spearing Vaughan Kermogant Subs: Logan Morrison Adams Wellens Waghorn Gallagher Berner
Salieri Posted 25 April 2010 Author Posted 25 April 2010 Weale Solano Powell (His last ever game) Hobbs Brown N'Guessan Dyer King Spearing Vaughan Kermogant Subs: Logan Morrison Adams Wellens Waghorn Gallagher Berner Is Fryatt not likely to even make the bench Bert?
