Edmund Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Mate said to me that if we cheated and dived like a lot of the other teams in the Championship we'd be right up there with west Brom and Newcastle. Totally agree with him, anyone else? I'm sorry but you're talking out of your arse. West Brom and Newcastle got promoted on merit
Ozwin Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Anyone that has C-man on Facebook, look at the difference between where the foul was and where the free-kick was taken. Pretty brutal. Copy + paste it here. I'm convinced it's a massive amount and I've only seen it once (live at the game)
ta-fc Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Cardiff were definitely the better side today, there's no doubt about that and deserved their win. They looked sharper on the attack, their passing was much more effective and their defence was solid. Their midfield closed down every ball for the majority of the game and their defence made things look effortless at times. Ironically this is the sort of game which was crying out for a Steve Howard cameo. Waghorn ran his socks off but the most he really contributed were a few decent corners. It wasn't his fault as he was outnumbered, outmuscled and outheighted (new word ) when we insisted on lumping the ball forward at every opportunity. It didn't help with our fans groaning at every miss placed pass. Cardiffs support was spot on and without raising eyebrows outsung us throughout. I thought Gallagher and Dyer were ineffectual for most parts of the game and were closed down well by Cardiff. Special mention to our defence who were heroic today. Bruce and Hobbs battled throughout and made many key tackles. Solano made some lovely passes and looked very comfortable throughout. If only we had brought Danny on earlier, he was doing what Dyer should've been doing ; running at their fullbacks. Overall we didn't play too badly and looked pretty solid as a unit but we lacked options and invention especially in the final third. On a positive note, I think we shouldn't be to disheartened as it could've easily been 2 or 3 and we were outdone by a superb freekick. We're still very much in this at 1-0 and have nothing to lose going to Cardiff. :city: I thought the whole back 4 looked good....
Narborough_fox Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Yeah but I mean we'd have far more points just numerous times we stay up in the box when we could go down unlike many other teams who go down far to easily. I don't mean that because West Brom and Newcastle have been OUTSTANDING! BUT we could have been in a stronger position.
Ozwin Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 I know what Narborough Fox is saying, Forest are the worst at it, they go down after everything and you can tell Billy Davies is the sort of manager who tells his players to do it. I like the fact we're where we are on merit though, we havn't cheated the refs, we havn't dived all over the pitch and we havn't been particularly nasty in challenges. We're just a good, honest football club and it's something to be proud of.
Aeropars Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Well I'd prefer us to play football and not cheat. Thats exactly what your suggesting.
flanimal Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 It's that killer instinct. Reminds me of Argentina and England, Argentina cheat - and win the World Cup. England play fair, and lose when it matters. I couldn't be proud of a team that cheated, to be honest.
ramboacdc Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 it was a good open game but we just couldnt score. with howard back on wednesday we can have a good shout as their centre backs had waghorn in their pockets. we can do this and silence the other sheep lovers. keep the faith lads foxes never quit!
Sods Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Just seen the pictures, absolute disgrace. How many claims of a penalty? Wiley you tosser. Come on City we dont deserve to be 1-0 down so lets just go for it on Wednesday, see you lot there.

maddog Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Absolutely fooking gutted. Devastating. Very even match, we didn't deserve to lose. Cagey, tight affair. Pearson is a great manager, he's done a wonderful job but we were far too negative today. 1 up front and sitting everyone back for their corners and free kicks. We needed to get at them, attack and kill them. Nerves. All over the team. Only Solano, and Hobbs had awesome games, possibly Wellens aswell, everyone else average or worse. Gallagher, Waghorn and King were not at the races at all today. The problem with these 2 leggers is no one wants to lose it in the first leg, pressure is now all on Cardiff, we are capable of beating them. Can we grasp possibly our only opportunity in the next few years or more for promotion, lets fooking hope we can. Weale shouldn't have been beaten at his near post though, the free kick was questionable, N'Guessan should have been brought on first which would have meant Kermo wouldn't have conceded the free kick witch was scored. Very unlucky chain of events really to lead to their goal. Appearently we had penalty shouts, didn't really see them at the ground. A minor miracle needed Wednesday night, lets pray we can do it. Come on Leicester

Aeropars Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Too many people are clutching at too many straws. We should have done more. If we had, yet still lost, I guarantee we wouldnt be talking about these 2 incidents.
flanimal Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 I want Leicester to shoot more. Just to take the chances. I only remember one shot on goal, and that was at the end. Fryatt, Gallagher - they take to long, try and get the perfect chance. Just smack the ball in more and not to pass it all round the box.
richardsfoxes Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 The occasion was too big for some of the players tbh, Dyer, King and Gallagher all crumbled today. The first 10 mins, was very even, could tell everyone was nervous. I was sitting right behind the dugout and craig and nigel constantly told dyer to get the ball and run at the there fullback, the guy is like 33 years old, he wont handle dyers pace. Dyer looked scared to do anything wrong so he was in his shell the whole game, gallagher had moments but just did nothing really, i thought waghorn could of been really effective if he was playing in dyers position or just behind kermo as he was getting outmuscled, by people a foot taller than him. Hobbs was sensentational as usual, was very impressed with solano aswell. Do i think we can beat cardiff? Dont know, i think if we play kermo with waggy we have a better chance, still we have nothing to lose now, its cardiff who are at home with the lead, players just need to go out all guns firing. Atsmosphere was immense, just a shame the football from leicester wasnt! Keep the faith
Ozwin Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 So are you honestly saying that Newcastle and West Brom have cheated their way to promotion? Not at all, I didn't even mention Newcastle and West Brom. Newcastle won the league fair and square, West Brom came runners up fair and square. The latter do go down a bit too easy for my liking but it's nothing compared to Forest. No need to put words in my mouth sonny jim.
Narborough_fox Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 So are you honestly saying that Newcastle and West Brom have cheated their way to promotion? No not at all they're easily the best teams but just a couple of extra points might of made a difference.
Salieri Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 No not at all they're easily the best teams but just a couple of extra points might of made a difference. Not really, we'd still be in the Play Offs!
Aeropars Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 I want Leicester to shoot more. Just to take the chances. I only remember one shot on goal, and that was at the end. Fryatt, Gallagher - they take to long, try and get the perfect chance. Just smack the ball in more and not to pass it all round the box. Totally right! I saw the corner when whittingham chested the ball and lashed a goalward shot. OK it was off target but I cannot see any Leicester player who would take the chance. Our all strikers are predatory strikers. I cant see anyone creating a goal out of nothing. Even Waghorn doesnt have that about him at the moment.
flanimal Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 The defeat could work in our favour. It should mean Cardiff will be nervy and cautious, they won't want to mess up at their ground. Seriously we need to change the formation and the tactics. 4-4-2 for certain, put Kermorgant or Howard upfront with Waghorn, and put N'Guessan on. Some pace, some thrust. Dyer just isn't imposing enough. Our front 6 are all under 6ft other than King.
fatmando Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Ref was a joke today. Well past it. Formation wasn't much better. We can beat them at their place. The pressure is on them. Memo to NP - Attack...attack, attack-attack-attack!!!
chesterfox Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 similar feeling after we drew wtih Stoke 0-0 in the last play offs - thought we had blown it and they celbrated as if they had won. Only half time - let's give it a go
flanimal Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Totally right! I don't expect 30-yard volleys, but at least if you smack it in, the goalkeeper might fumble then someone might get on the end of it. All this passing outside the box gives defenders time to retreat and adjust, it's just not a good strategy.
Edmund Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Also I thought the defence dealt with Chopra well. Apart from his close chance he didn't do a lot. People need to remember how many players they've got who are a capable of scoring and we did well to keep the deficit only at 1 goal.
flanimal Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Bruce for me kept us in it. I thought McCormack had scored. Those two tackles were game changers.
