MikeyT Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 If you have to play football with your hands you're going nowhere.
adamkhalifa Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 We were not the usual fluent passing self, really disappointed about the Fryatt chance. I hope fans don't get on his back, because he created that opportunity. I think that tactics were questionable. We just could not deal with them intercepting our through balls. Do they say never to make a substitution during a corner. Kermo, coming on was a bit suspect. It is going to be a very tough task at their place. Well done to the lads, unfortunately we got done on that free kick.
Tilley Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 4-5-1 at home in the semi-finals of the play offs? So negative. Awful team selection from the start. Waghorn was isolated, there was no movement, passing was terrible and we were just generally at sixes and sevens all afternoon. On that performance, we're looking at at 2/3 nil loss on Wednesday night. Weale Solano Hobbs Bruce BernerN'Guessan King Wellens DyerHoward Waggy That is the team I would like to see, nothing to lose so lets go shit or bust. Also, Weale should be ashamed, no keeper should ever be beaten at their near post.
foxesfan1 Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Hahahahhahhhahahahahahahahahahahagaha fook off all of you, if you can't score a one on one you won't score a fooking penalty THE BLUES ARE GOING UP Quite funny that he spent the time of his day looking for a website and also blatently didnt go to the game as he wouldnt be online yet. no matter who gets through this semi final on wednesday i will just be happy if come final day a welsh team doesnt spoil our top league, find your own
orangecity23 Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Ref was an absolute fooking disgrace, how many penalty shouts did he miss? Maybe we need to start diving every 20 seconds and handling the ball constantly, seems to work for Cardiff. Thought Kermorgant looked good when he came on, need him or Howard up top on wednesday to give us some aerial presence.
The Doctor Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Hahahahhahhhahahahahahahahahahahagaha fook off all of you, if you can't score a one on one you won't score a fooking penalty THE BLUES ARE GOING UP really? Did you not see last week then - pretty sure we scored a penalty then. Also hardly suprising you won with that ref - 3 penalties not given Bothroyd surviving when he should have been off for the elbow alone despite also pulling back berner which should have been a 2nd yellow Getting a free kick that wasn't Getting away with moving that free kick far enough foward that it went in of the post rather than wide Can't believe i'm saying this but if we don't make it come on forest/Holloway!
Ricey Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 We were 2nd best, simply as that. They barely gave us a sniff in front of goal while we gave them far too much room up front. Still all to play for, at least we know we have to go for it on Wednesday. Chins up.
Guest DavidJCW Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Can't really see us doing it at their place... real shame really as I would have thought we'd have been more adventurous up front in the home game. However, we've done it before so why not again! COME ON LEICESTER!!!
Webbo Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 There is no way Pearson set out the team to play long balls to lone striker Waghorn! The team didn't play how they were told. After half-time they got better and supported the attack better once Pearson had a word! I think will be a change next week. Howard definate for start, King has to be more involved! Spearing needs to step-up. I was very impressed with the defence. Still be tempted to start Morrison over Nobby if 100% fit as he can score goals too.? Fryatt on bench. I think Vaughan would be a better impact sub to be honest. N'guessen in place of Dyer maybe?? Just more physical presence 100% spot on. Just got back, was it me or was the wall for their goal in totally the wrong place? What were the penalty appeals like? Ewan Roberts said on RL that there was a definite pen but I couldn't really tell. Personally I can see it going to penalties.
Fosse Fox Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 The FA should throw the book at Wiley for his officiating at the free kick - putting his own fragile ego before the laws of the game. He looked most put out by player appeals about Whittingham's first movement of the ball and went over only with great reluctance to site the ball in its proper position for the restart. Given that Whittingham was tehnically guilty of an infringement Wiley should have had his eyes on him and jogged backwards into the penalty area. He did not do this and deliberately turned two blind eyes to Whittingham's re-siting of the ball (and two deaf ears to the howls of protest from Fryatt and the crowd). We were then treated to a goal which was a product of officially condoned cheating instead of a yellow card for dissent.

I'm sitting here at the station now, waiting for my train home to Peterborough. Why weren't you at the fooking game? Oh,
The Doctor Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 100% spot on. Just got back, was it me or was the wall for their goal in totally the wrong place? What were the penalty appeals like? Ewan Roberts said on RL that there was a definite pen but I couldn't really tell. Personally I can see it going to penalties. Not so much in the wrong place as too small IMO two which i've seen given but ball blasted across and it's hit the players hand - perhaps harsh ones to give However one where the balls swung in, two defenders sandwich waghorn and the full back stretches out his arm and punches it up in the air before keeper claims it - penalty all day long.
Narborough_fox Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 KEEP THE FAITH! Bloody Bothroyd elbowing Hobbs a yellow is that a joke?
foxoffderby Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 4-5-1 at home in the semi-finals of the play offs? So negative. Awful team selection from the start. Morrison instead of Solano perhaps...
Aeropars Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 I feared the worst when i heard the lineup. I thought we had to go 4-4-2 and thinkwe shoudl have done even though Vaughen was injured. I think a Kermorgant and Waghornt top two would have been vretty good i though. I also expected whittingham to tear Nobby and new rectum but I thought we kept him very quiet. I think the tactics were very negative and showed them too much respect. We obviously set out to contain and that was testament by how deep Gally and Dyer were playing. In all honesty, I think we have blown it. however I fully scpect one hell of a riot in Wales. We have to go for it and I hope Pearson throws caution to the wind and we go down fighting rather than with a whimper. I hope I'm wrong but its a big ask! With the certain incidents, I think 2 of the hand balls would have been very harsh HOWEVER, I have to totally disagree with the Sky commentators. When I was at the game and saw it in full speed it looks blatent and when I got back and watched it over again it looks just as blatant. I know the ball flicks off the defenders foot onto the hand but if the arm is raised and it stops a goalbound ball is simply HAS to be a penalty. Fryatt's miss was unlucky I thought. It's on his left and he had to make a quick decision but I'd agree that a match sharp (not fit because i think he is fit enough) he'd have taken it first time. Unfortunatly he had too much time to think about what to do. All in all though I don't think we showed enough ambition, enough attacking prowess and enough quality. All to play for but I'm not expecting a Wembley visit.
nuttytimmy Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Have to echo the thoughts re: penalty appeals BUT... Alan Wiley had a sound game - he got very few decisions wrong. Unfortunately they scored from one of them. We should have gone 4-4-2 earlier, bringing on Kermorgant when Fryatt came on. We should start N'Guessan over Dyer on Wednesday. He offers more muscle against their defence. Spearing, Bruce and Solano were outstanding - Bruce was my MOTM.
mattlcfc77 Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Often teams and managers complain about contreversial decisions. But that penalty appeal wasn't even contreversial. How can you not see the ball hit his arm. IT was absolutely blatant. That said, we can only blame ourselves for not scoring. Can we win by 2 at Cardiff without playing Fryatt????
The Doctor Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 believe it or not, I have an iPhone! I'm sitting here at the station now, waiting for my train home to Peterborough. Why weren't you at the fooking game? Oh, i was - i just conviently live in the city the game was taking place in and had a lift home waiting for me. Hence i got home within the time between the FT whistle and my post.
Matt Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 A bias view says it should have been a draw, an honest view is that Cardiff we're better - only just imo, but they were better and probably do deserve there lead. Gotta question refereeing decisions, Again. That's all i'll say on that matter, no doubt they were all correct and he's one of the best referee's in the country according to DB11 though. People are saying Pearson got the starting selection wrong, perhaps Waghorn should have been given more support but tbh the amount of pressure Cardiff gave I think we needed the extra men in defence/midfield, There were too many misplaced passes, particularly in defence and particularly in the first half. I'm hugly disappointed, I'm gutted, but it's only H/T and thank fuck we're not 2 down - which quite easily could have been. Don't want to slag Fryatt off it's his 2nd apperance back but a 1 on 1 with the keeper at 1-0 down - unforgivable. P.S - I've said it during the season and not just when Cardiff have played us, when i've watched there games on the TV, Cardiff are one of the dirtiest teams in the Championship. Should we not win and progress to the final on Wednesday, i'll be firmly supporting Blackpool or Forest in the final.

Small??? There wasnt a 'wall' just Fryatt stood on the edge of the box. I'm a little disapointed that people are looking for a scapegoat in the referee. In all honesy I think he had a good game, just that 2 key decisions he got wrong in my opinion. The freekick leading to the goal was dubious and the handball following a gallager shot.

Would that not count as too small then since it was a one man wall - the smallest wall you can have and still have a wall
CupidStunt Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 1.Didnt show enough IMO 2.why does that Whittingham keep fecking scoring against us the billy bob teeth git? 3.Just looked at sky plus at whittingham "moving the ball"......hardly worth talking about, ref moved it back about 3 yards, then he re-stole a ft at the most, made no difference, IMO Keeper should have had it, or least a 2 man wall FFS when facing a free kick from a man of his calibre 4.Only 1-0, BRING FORTH THE HOWARD 5.and 1 blatant handball

Shane Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 how was whittingham man of the match? he did fook all apart from that free kick. :l its only half time though
Rocky Dennis Posted 9 May 2010 Posted 9 May 2010 Have to echo the thoughts re: penalty appeals BUT... Alan Wiley had a sound game - he got very few decisions wrong. He could have sent Bothyroyd off twice, at least one blatant penalty, failure to stop timewasting and diving McPhail/Bothroyd Id say hed anything but a sound game? A disgrace in my eyes!!
