davieG Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 From the Merc Nigel Pearson has said he can give no assurances about his future as Leicester City manager. Even before their devastating Championship play-off penalty shoot-out defeat at Cardiff on Wednesday night, Pearson had drawn up plans for pre-season and City's next campaign, and is looking to the future at the Walkers Stadium. However, he said nothing was guaranteed in football and he has still to agree a new contract as City boss, although he has one year remaining on his existing three-year deal. He said that the ball is in City's court over any further negotiations. He added that it is now firmly in City owner Milan Mandaric's hands whether the club are to build on their excellent fifth-place finish in the Championship. "I can't give anyone any assurances because, as I have said before, managers get sacked all the time," he said. "The ball is in the court of the club now and has been for some time. All those sorts of things (budget talks) at this moment in time are private. I don't want to discuss targets for next season. "The ball is very much in the club's court in terms of the next stage. We will see how things develop." Pearson said he faced a summer of squad rebuilding, as the loan players who had served him so well headed back to their parent clubs. Martyn Waghorn, James Vaughan, Jay Spearing, Alex Bruce and Ryan McGivern all said their farewells to their temporary team-mates yesterday as the squad held their end-of-season debrief and picked up their summer training programmes. Pearson has also told the players who are being released the news. He would not reveal who they are at this stage, but they are unlikely to be big names. Pearson and his coaching staff will now look back at the campaign and discuss plans for next season at their own meeting before departing on their own much-needed summer break. "There are going to be a lot of changes, because we have a number of loan players," he said. "We will have to, if we are to progress, develop the side again. We will let the dust settle now and move on. "We may need to make changes to the playing staff, as I suppose we did when we first came in, because you have to have players who are ready for the next challenge."

MrSpaM Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 Good to hear Pearson wants to stay here, can't see Milan letting him slip through the net even if he's lookin for a bit more money next season. With play-off tv money coming in we should be able keep him here if he's happy to carry on. Really interested to see who these summer targets are, and wether their perms or loans, hope Tom Cleverlys on the list

Would like to see us have a punt at mark davies he looked top class! Looks like some dead wood has been released. If we can sell Dj it should give us some decent dosh to either buy or play with loans market again. I am very excited about next season. Nige isn't the sort of bloke to leave a job half done! he wont leave us. I have a sneaky feeling waggie will be back.
Dr The Singh Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 Wonder who they are then. This sounds like he wants to stay but under the right conditions ie money to spend and invest!!!

MrSpaM Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 Tom cleverly ended the season injured did he not? last thing we need is another injury prone player on the books. He also finished the season as watfords second top goal scorer, from midfield, these are the sort of players we DO want in our squad, he already knows most of our squad too from last season.
Foxhateram Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 :D. Pure gold. ooops didn't realise he had spent two years out of the game and we were his stepping stone to get back to fitness. Ah well we all make mistakes from time to time. ha. i will stop digging now. Yes agreed TC Was very good for watford this season. Would just like his fitness checked before he signed that is all.
Bryn Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 I think Cleverley will get a Prem loan this season, and Davies has had a few big clubs looking at him apparently.

He got injured because of a tackle so that doesn't mean he's injury prone at all.

Cheers, sorry for some reason i thought he had been injured before. He would definately be a good signing assuming hes got over that injury. He has done brilliantly well for Watford this season.
turkish14 Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 The only chance we have of getting davies back is if gets a new agent...pearson was p****d off with the agent for misguiding davies when we tried to keep him
Fosse Boy Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 He signed Kermo, nuff said. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
CKB Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 Nigel is being very clever here, he is basically saying he wants more funds and promises and you can't blame him! So Milan you know what you have to do, dig deep for one big push and hopefully it will gain you in the long run, infact silly remark it will if we go up next season and if not? well upto you then Mandy!
Salieri Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 Fucks sake Milan, sort it out before another club comes sniffing.
Narborough_fox Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 He signed Kermo, nuff said. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Nah I sent him a email about him to sign him, it was my fault Nigel should stay!
Edmund Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 Nigel is being very clever here, he is basically saying he wants more funds and promises and you can't blame him! This is exactly how I read it as well. It speaks volumes about Nigels ambitions. He's built a solid foundation and he know's more than anyone with a bit of fine tuning we could be right up there next season and make another push for promotion. This just makes me love the man even more. A lot of managers would only have their own wages in mind when a contract renewal is at hand, whereas our Nigel is also taking into account the clubs future. He reeks of integrity and professionalism and is highly ambitious. Over to you Milan....
Koke Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 Fucks sake Milan, sort it out before another club comes sniffing. No other club will come sniffing. His name might be branded about in October time when a few managers have been sacked, but Nigel will start the new season as a Leicester boss.
lovelcfc Posted 3 June 2010 Posted 3 June 2010 he wont be signing yet because everyones on holiday he will tho
