You need to buy the newspaper for the full story, excellent headline and photograph.

yeah, if i lived in the area i would have bought it, however being over 100 miles away they dont stock it in my local newsagents :giggle:

True, i fully appreciate that and so does the Mercury. The banner, some hand-held flags and balloons would be enough really. Tearing up several newspapers is a cheap idea-just take bags of them for effect! I am trying to get the Mercury to sponsor a card display or see if the Club will fund it. It would be great to have one of these for the Forest or Derby game in The Kop.

Once again we're delighted that you've supported us so much and I'm personally extremely pleased with the informed and well written article published today. It really could not have been written any better and the guy has obviously been fed the right information and researched it well.

However I will say categorically that any tifo we do will be funded and produced by us independently from the club or any other organisation. As I say though, it's just fantastic that people like yourself with no intention of getting involved with the group directly are so enthusiastic about helping us. Thank you.

I for one would love it if the Mercury could get involved with sponsoring some sort of display cards etc for the club, i dont think that this should just be seen as a fosse boys thing, especially if they dont want it as fosse boy has stated above. it would be a shame if the push to improve atmosphere at the walkers was a fosse boys-only thing. I for one would like to see stadium-wide displays. So please dont tell the Mercury that just because the Fosse Boys dont want it, that all the supporters feel that way! thanks

Obviously that may be the case, and if any organisation wants to fund a display in the ground then of course it's their right to do so. We're not claiming to be some sort of power-crazed atmosphere spokesmen for the whole fanbase. But what I was saying was that any display our group decides to set up, whether it involves only group members or other fans too (like the display at Palace on Saturday did), will be funded and produced by us.

Agree with FOsse Boy any funding from external places like the mercury should be given to and benefit all the fans. If we got lots of funding to do displays and the like I'm sure we would get people saying why are they getting all the money and why can't we join in. Large displays across the whole of the kop would look fantastic but would be costly and probably only funded once or twice so I understand why the orgNisers wish to keep our displays self funded at less cost and consequently pehaps more often.

This is just an observation as opposed to a criticism:

It seems to me that you guys are so intent on adhering to a strict code of what the group can and can't do that you run the risk of strangling the life out of whatever potential the group has.

I respect you wanting to stay true to the Ultra culture but don't you think that this may actually backfire? In terms of alienating the club and fans and putting people off joining?

This is going to sound horribly arrogant and of course I don't mean it to, but we want the people who join the group to fit its mentality, not the other way round. That's why we've done our utmost from the very start to make clear what we are about and what we stand for. Of course we're aware that this may potentially alienate other fans, but as you mentioned we want to stay true to the culture on which the group has been founded.

Obviously as I've mentioned plenty of times in this thread we honestly could not be more overwhelmed and humbled by the amount of wellwishers we've had since we set about setting the group up (on here, at the Sunderland game and now in the media too).

People don't have to subscribe to our mentality to sing and show their support at a game, just to stand behind our banner. I'm sure there's plenty of space in the surrounding areas of SK1/SK2 where people can stand if they don't want to be involved in the group but want to be part of an area based loosely on the same principles of creating an atmosphere.

From what I can gather that's how it works at Palace. The HF only comprise the front few rows of their Block, with those behind or to the side also joining in but not having any involvement with the group. Seems to work pretty well there, they're by far and away the best home fans I've seen in this division.

To be fair that's probably because of people like us

If you want to donate £15 to an organisation you're clearly opposed to then please, be our guests.

Not sure what game you were at but the "kids" who travelled with us on Saturday were all over 18. You should have come and said hi!

No you missed my point Fosse Boy - I wasn't saying you were kids, just the scarf's were kids sizes I'm guessing - not the biggest.

£15!! who is head of marketing in the fosse boys - John Elsom?

last year i was in SK1 in the corner and the T*** of the stewards there kept on telling us 2 sit down, even tho there was no1 behind us (health and safety my arse!)

i not sure bout u guys? i love the idea of an atmosphere, which is great, but HOOLIGASIM would tht be a problem?

i like ur point in the bold. i would like 2 go were you guys are and chant, to have an atmosphere, but i wouldnt really like to be in the group, i welcome that idea very much :)

Posted

The idea of numerous fans around us joining in when they can is great and the more that help create an atmosphere the better I am sure people will join in when we sing traditional songs. As Fosse boy said how people support their club near and around us is their choice so if you want to sing then great, if you wish to stand up again your choice, personally if numerous people decided to make those choices that would be beneficial to us as a group. If you want to sing and bounce for 90 minutes come and join us.

if the fosse boys become really successful, the whole of the Kop will be standing and singing, and tifos will be the stadium or stand big, it is inevitable that the club and maybe even the mercury will NEED to be involved in something on this scale.

i suggest the fosse boys enjoy their place in history while they are a small group - two possible things will happen to the ultra element at the walkers, it will either become huge and revolutionise the match day experience, or it will peter out and die...hopefully it will be the first, but if so it will reach a point where, yes there will be a few main organisers, but the scale will be beyond the point where they will have much say over who is standing near them in the ground.

at least that is my experience of attending an 'ultra' type environment.

So how was it today then chaps?

Hear the stewards decided to behave like Mussolini's lads today.

Posted

I think it went very well, I have a sore throat personally but it was worth it :trumpet:

Stewards tried to get us to sit down but it was fruitless task with so many other people standing in the ground :chant:

Delighted with all who turned up and got what we were about. Having old skool Kop-heads applaud us at the end just shows how receptive fans of this club are to what we're doing.

Even the stewards, who were initially hostile, were sound and let us be. Delighted with how today turned out.

Posted

Fantastic news, reading other threads it sounded like the stewards were a lot worse than it seems they were.

It's fantastic that so many of the fans not directly affiliated with us are so positive as well. Can't wait to get back now. :scarf:
