Jordan Posted 14 August 2010 Posted 14 August 2010 I did hear a strong WYS early on in the game, and if you were responsible for that, well done.
Stand UP... Posted 14 August 2010 Posted 14 August 2010 I did hear a strong WYS early on in the game, and if you were responsible for that, well done. oh yes
Mr B Posted 14 August 2010 Posted 14 August 2010 Anyone have a link to the story in the Merc? Forza Fosse Boys! City ‘Super Fans’ Aim to Raise the Roof at the Walkers Defeat in the opening game places even more importance on Saturday’s meeting with Middlesborough and it seems that City might have a bit of extra encouragement from the stands. A group of young City fans centred around the FoxesTalk messageboard have spent the summer organising themselves into a new supporters group based on the ‘Ultras’ who fanatically follow clubs throughout Europe. The Ultras (loosely translated as ‘super fans’) movement began in Italy in the 1970’s inspired by the scarf-waving and singing and chanting of the British fans. Ironically, we are now importing it back and, hopefully it will breath new life into grounds around the country that have suffered from a declining atmosphere in recent years. The Ultras’ core values include supporting your club beyond the norm, which involves non stop singing, plus supporters displays known as tifos. A lot of thought and design goes into their flags and banners, one of which they walk behind as they make their way en masse to the stadium. Other displays include mosaic cards forming a huge picture across a stand, streamer displays and flares. So, added to names such as: Hamburger SV’s ‘Chosen Few’, VfL Wolfsburg’s ‘Weekend Brothers’, AEK Athens ‘Gate 21 Original’ and Brigate Rossonere at AC Milan is Leicester City’s ‘Fosse Boys’. Sadly, in nanny state Britain, a flag pole is regarded nearly as dangerous as a hand grenade by health and safety killjoys and a flare would probably send them into a dead faint-so Leicester’s Ultras will have a road full of hurdles and compromises as they negotiate what is acceptable to the club. Even standing up, something our European counterparts are free to do, is a potential point of conflict in English stadia. The Ultras movement has established as foothold in the UK, with the ‘Green Brigade’ at Celtic, the ‘Toon Ultras’ at Newcastle and the smaller but no less enthusiastic, ‘Stanley Ultras’ at Accrington and ‘Jorvic Reds’ at York. Last Saturday we got to see the ‘Holmesdale Fanatics’ at Crystal Palace first hand and I have never seen Selhurst Park crowd in such good voice. The Fosse Boys are keen to distance themselves from the hooliganism and extreme politics which is associated with a few European Ultras groups and plan to take up residence in the emptiest part of the ground in the corner near SK1 so as not to inconvenience other supporters. Whether this turns out to be a one-season wonder, such as the inflatable craze of ’89 remains to be seen, but they appear to have a lot of enthusiasm and anything that can raise the atmosphere of the Walkers Stadium above a library hush must surely be encouraged by the club and fellow fans… Forza Fosse Boys!
James. Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 Fantastic to hear it went so well. I came to this thread before the match one as I was keen to know how things went for the first proper game of the season. Keep it up, fair play to all of you.
Fosse Boy Posted 15 August 2010 Author Posted 15 August 2010 And if they can't hear us, we'll sing a little louder...
City fan @ Aston Uni Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 That guy in the White tshirt came and stood next to me and my mates during the latter part of the second half yesterday , what an absolute idiot!! As Ozwin said, a dirty little piece of work who actually spent more time texting on his phone than watching the game!! Well done for yesterday boys, seemed to get a lot of people applauding you guys at the end of the game too.
Lillehamring Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 No need IMO. Away support has been rather good for a while. Your attitude and behaviour was super today. I'll be honest and I got the feeling at Sunderland game that the group was already developing cliquey with the whispering noises etc. You kept going and for a higher percentage than normal it got the Kop going. If you keep working, you'll get the Kop on your side with a pocket for ultra antics such as flags and banners. Keep it up. The numbers will come by 'word of mouth' or attraction if you keep it up. Did a great job in keeping the club staff as well on your side today. ah, now this is exactly what i hoped for, and based on what i have seen over here it makes so much sense - like i said, there will always be the core organisers, but the dream (for me) is to see it spread to the whole of the kop. i'd guess by the end of the season there will be a decent group and maybe the club will even conditionally ok the flags - but come the start of next season, hopefully there will be a migration out and in to the Kop, with people sensing a return to old kop ways... all good.
Babylon Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 I was skeptical when I read about it on here, but fair play to you. Could take years for it to grow, if you can be bothered to keep it up that long we might finally have you good atmosphere down there.
haraven Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 Music in my ears! Any pictures or posts of you from the Boro-match out?
dave_the_fox Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 I was in sk4, couldn't hear you guys, but the kop was surprisingly noisy so I'm guessing you are getting them going. Also, when your numbers increase it will look quality over there. Constantly bouncing - it looks like a party and everyone is invited!
lildave3 Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 Today went really good, apart from a random lad, couldnt have been older than 18, standing in SK1 to our left on his own wearing a white top giving us willy puller signs when we were singing... i pissed my self when i noticed him tommy g?????????????????? I was right next to him, proper dirty bastard aswell, gobbing on the floor every 5 seconds. He went crazy when you did that backs to the pitch thing. '****ing watch the game you pricks!!!!!' *spits on floor* I swear he spent more time watching you than watching the game. He kept moving seats, he only came near me towards the end of the game so I missed out on some other gems. Stood next to me in the first half. Was an absolute ****. Insisted on doing the willy puller sign every other minute, quite often in no direction at all. Then he'd look over at the Fosse Boys and say 'they're **** faggots. They need to get a life, watch the game you pricks' despite the fact he was barely watching it himself! Then when he did watch it he'd moan constantly. Pissed me right off.
Jay Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 The biggest problem you will have is with the club, unlike many other clubs our seems to take great pleasure in ensuring everyone sits in silence and ensure that any natural atmosphere is sacrificed for the "matchday experience" The head steward in the the kop that bald bloke has always had an attitude on him, he's both condescending and pathetic, seems to see himself as something special. yesterday the Fosse Boys were about 30strong? standing away from everyone else, caused no offense or obstructions to anyone nearby and were just having a good time yet he felt the need to stand staring at them for about 20mins, constantly going and having words with them, having meetings with about 10 stewards at the bottom about them and trying to make them look like they were troublemakers. While I understand what you are trying to do, this bloke has always been a bit of a dick and nothing will change but by his actions it almost makes you look like you are doing something wrong when infact everyone in the stand supports what you are trying to do. But you need to try and find a viable way round this because some people might get the wrong idea about what you are about.
Poakey Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 Leicestershire boys,we love Leicestershire girls,we hate Derby and Forest and Chelsea and Spurs,City are the ones we really love!!! 1,2,3
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 Brilliant effort by you lot. Just need a few more numbers now. You got a couple of the known songs being sung throughout the kop.
LCFC-ARAB Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 That's what it's gunna be like at the Reading game in our section.
Mikey Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 Leicestershire boys,we love Leicestershire girls,we hate Derby and Forest and Chelsea and Spurs,City are the ones we really love!!! 1,2,3 That song was quality!

I think the best possible way to get around this is to simply continue to do what they're doing - i.e. good behaviour, vocal support, not obstructing anyone. Seems like the fans are already warming to the group so after awhile the club will turn a blind eye like it does with L1, including that steward however much of a dick he is being now.
Poakey Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 That's what it's gunna be like at the Reading game in our section. Wow, a mosh pit at a football match, theres an idea. Get it done Arab!!
1964FOX Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVeyIe-u51U Not brilliant but best I got, was too busy singing and waving my flag with my health and safety compliant flag pole..
HonradaRaposa Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 I was diagonally opposite the FB's and couldn't hear them. However, you could see they were making an effort and on the go for 90 minutes Certainly the folk round me were commenting on the effort and I've noticed it praised on Bentleys Roof by the older lot. Keep up the good work.
Petchy Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 Sorry guys, but I really didnt notice any difference whatsoever. Even when the game was quiet I still couldn't hear or see anything.
LCFC-ARAB Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 Sorry guys, but I really didnt notice any difference whatsoever. Even when the game was quiet I still couldn't hear or see anything. Don't be sorry mate there was only about 30 of us! we aren't gunna get the kop jumping in our first game, all that matters is the guys and gals who were standing with us enjoyed them selves! and we didnt stop singing all game!
Simmo86 Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 The acoustics in the walkers are really really crap!! People are commenting that there was a good atmosphere in the kop today but I couldn't hear them in L1. Be interesting to know if the situation was similar in the kop.
LCFC-ARAB Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 I only heard L1 a couple of times, but that is just because i was singing the whole game, whenever we heard L1 we sang the same song they did though
