You can blame the tactics, the team selection, the commitment but the bottom line is they were shite as individuals unable to retain possession, complete their passes, control the ball, make the right moves off the ball, the set plays were awful as well, they were like complete strangers to each other and had never seen a football before never mind this particular one..

We should have steamrolled this group, 9 points, 7 at worst, this is shit to be scraping through IF we win on Wednesday and Capello is to blame.

His military system doesn't work, players need to know they are playing more than two hours before kick off. Scrap 4-4-2, IT ISN'T WORKING, drop Heskey, HE IS SHIT...

Where is the performance coming from on Wednesday? and more importantly, where are the goals going to come from?!

well what a load of crap rooney must be dropped put heshey and defoe up front rooneys done bugger all . all that money he is paid get rid. thank god carragher cannot play next game done us a favour. and what the fuk is beckham there for no point just a waste of space .up the city

really? Carragher and Barry were the only players who showed any sort of ability and commitment in that match so surely england need them both playing next time out as well?

Like I said in the last match thread I don't see why anyone was expecting anything else.

Technically we're not good enough and are just a team full of players who shine in teams surrounded by world class foreigners.

It still astonishes me players like Adam Johnson didn't get a look in. Players get to complacent when they know their always going to be picked living on their name on the back of their shirts.

The whole team needs to go back to basics. Give the shirt to players who give a ****. Bring back some team spirit for ****s sake. They should be locked in their hotel rooms and shown a dvd of Euro 96 when the likes of Gazza, Psycho, Ince, Shearer, Sheringham played their hearts out for the shirt.

tonight was shocking but people seem to be judging the players on this one game. because of this game,

Rooney isn't one of the best three players in the world

Gerrard isn't one of the best midfielders in the world

Lampard isn't one of the best goalscoring midfielders in the world

Terry isn't one of the best defenders in the world

Rooney wouldnt even get in the Leicester side.

infact, it appears most of them wouldn't get in the Leicester side.

please get real. and pleasr give the captaincy back to JT.

No excuses this time.

That was plain awful, and a scandalous result.

How England can expect to be taken seriously as a contender when they fail to beat Algeria is beyond me. Credit to Algeria 'cause they were fantastic, but that was pathetic.

Wayne Rooney just didn't turn up - shocking performance by one of the supposed best players in the world. Not on this evidence.

Nobody created a clear cut opportunity, and had they done so I'm convinced our lacklustre strike force would only wasted it.

Algeria sure did play well but i wonder how much of it was more us making them look good?

just shocking all round. Tactically inept.. metally weak ( to scared to attack) and makes a mockery of us being a so called strong team...

Joe Cole - Does Fabio not like him or something? He can run with a ball well. And we bring on SWP, I don't think he even did anything except a crappy flick - which failed.

Rooney had a poor game , just didn't seem up for it. Also the 4-4-2 just is not working.

Hate to see our fans boo the lads though, even after a poor performance, they don't deserve to get boo'd. Give them some respect.

Let's hope for a pure re-work on Wednesday. We are saying that it's still in our hands, but wouldn't life be alot easier if we would have 6 points on the board at the moment.

After that little rant, i still beleive we can win the world cup

Agreed, I didn't want Carragher before tonight, now I'm very very disappointed he's out. Personally thought Carragher had a great game.

Absolute bullshit.

How many times did Heskey have to track back today and win possession because Wayne 'Best Striker in the world' Rooney had a poor first touch or gave the ball away?

Heskey has been a moderate threat in the past 2 games even setting up our only goal and he was only one of a few players that managed to keep the ball tonight. Dropping him would be an insult to the effort he's made while the others around him haven't bothered.

If fans are going out to SA spending their well earned money i think they have a right to boo the crap we have just watched!!

As for rooney....Terrible...is he missing his kid?

I am not one for booing usually at all... but some of those fans have travelled 12,000 miles to watch that pile of trollop?

Its not like this is a pre season friendly... it isnt even a world cup qualifier... ITS THE BLOODY WORLD CUP FINALS, MATE!!!

they were playing Algeria... that well known world leading football team....

I think if you're honest, had you spent a few grand travelling to and staying in South Africa to watch that shite, you wouldn't be clapping them off respectfully.

This is why I gave up on the national team a long time ago. Give me club football any day of the week. I'd rather see England lose 2-0 with the players playing out of their skin rather than this mediocre crap.

Posted

Some guy said after the last game it cost them 9 grand to get there. If you're paying that sort of money, you are 1. mental and 2. definitely entitled to boo at that kind of performance.

Rooney sort yourself out before you make comments like that.

Are you fooking mad? I accept Heskey gave plenty of effort tonight but there were a handful of times where Heskey controlled it with his shin with the ball ending up heading straight to an Algerian.

Rooney - "Nice to see/hear your own fans boo ya". Whilst I'm against booing you're own team...I understand the frustration. How much has it cost the fans to travel there to see THAT?

Solution...fooking start playing then. Rooney, you were shit tonight pal. Along with the other 10 players.

carragher should not even be there his retired from playing for england . if you are going to pick him you well as pick platt butcher lineker and shilton plus all of the players from 1966

What was missing tonight?

Lampard, Rooney, Heskey, Gerrard's shooting & crossing boots, Wright-Phillips, Capello's tactics.

Rooney should not play against Slovenia. Capello HAS to change this formation. Cole & Johnson must come forward. Against the U.S. they were a threat, today they were nothing.

James

Johnson Terry Dawson Cole

Barry Lampard/Carrick

Lennon Gerrard Cole

Crouch

I know Carrick isn't great, but what has Lampard done at all this WC? Carrick fills a Defensive Midfield role quite well I think.

Looking on it in this manor I have to agree with you also. At the end of the day, we just weren't good enough.

Lovely fickle this. Capello hailed as the biggest thing since sliced bread when qualifying comfortably with that same system, Heskey's role emphasized ("look at England's record when Heskey has played") and a few on here looking down on the other teams in Group C. I'm sorry that we're not seeing an England side that plays better than that, but there is a small element of schadenfreude mostly towards those that thought England would stroll through the group.
