Dylan Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 Absolutely poor display. No passion or heart in the game at all. A lot of the time, Algeria were outplaying us. Gerrard looked poor for most of the game. Lampard looked invisible, and poor. Rooney looked like he couldnt be arsed- normally he's running around everywhere chasing the ball- didn't look bothered today. SWP looked poor- dont know why JoeCole didnt come on. Only player I think who had a decent game was Barry.
dandannieldanok Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 I don't get how he's been dismal in the past 2 games seriously? I'm not Pro-Heskey but if i'm honest theres been players out there that deserve more slick when it comes to Major Tournaments then Emile. Why he gets scapegoated so much is astounding really what the fook has he done wrong? Past 2 games? How about whole England career. He gets scapegoated because he's been appalling for ages, the likes of Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard who have been absolute dogshite this world cup have produced for England in the past. There's the difference, it's not that subtle.
BlueSi13 Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 Couldn't give a toss if Rooney retired from international football tonight, i know its a cliche but the Three Lions is more than a shirt, tonight he disgraced it with both his performance and his conduct. Clearly England is too big for him and a lot of players out there, most of them looked like their arse had gone. Give me a team of passionate, hungry, blood-thirsty no hopers any day, a team that would make us roar like in 1996 rather than the dull, dire, dredge from the 11 divas we saw tonight. We are a big name, but nothing more.

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 Reflecting, I sense that Capello didn't read any of last weeks papers but the players certainly did and that they themselves didn't agree with what was around them. They've convinced themselves the formation is wrong, that they can't control the ball, etc, etc, etc. But why they've convinced themselves they can't break into a sprint or decide on making the right decisions at the right times I don't know?
Corky Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 Past 2 games? How about whole England career. dandannieldanok Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 Why should anyone be scapegoated? The team as a whole should take the blame. I'm not saying he should, I'm giving a reason as to why he is.
Mee Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 Why should anyone be scapegoated? The team as a whole should take the blame. Exactly, the whole performance was poor tonight. We just look like 11 players who have just met. I don't think we can blame one person tonight, it was just truly crap.
Dames Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 Past 2 games? How about whole England career. There's the difference, it's not that subtle. So he's not Messi who cares? Every player (Rooney and Owen being the big ones) thats ever played with him have come out and said he's been one of the best because of the space he opens up for them and how unselfish he is sometimes which i guess is half the reason he doesn't have as many goals as he does As for Rooney, Lampard and Gerrard performing in the past thats also BS. Qualifying yeah they look half decent and produce the goods but when they get to the big time and the going gets tough they flop every single one of them. Besides a few goals in Euro 2004 Rooney's been awful at every Tournament since. Gerrard and Lampard.. Well they have never produced on the big stage and it doesn't look like they will again.
Frost Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 You have to be a complete fooking idiot if you blame Heskey for that performance. In comparison to the rest of the team, he was FAR from the worst!
Ilkeston_Fox Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 You have to be a complete fooking idiot if you blame Heskey for that performance. In comparison to the rest of the team, he was FAR from the worst! Spot on.
Legend_in_blue Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 We'll lose on Wednesday. I can see it coming. You can see it coming. Nobody wants to admit it, but it's true.
Brainy Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 You have to be a complete fooking idiot to drop Rooney for the next game, too.
Dames Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 You have to be a complete fooking idiot if you blame Heskey for that performance. In comparison to the rest of the team, he was FAR from the worst! People will do it because Rooney, Gerrard and especially Lampard seem to be immune to criticism.
C-man Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 I wouldn't blame Heskey because I think there have been far worse performers with far higher reputations, but his inclusion is clearly not benefiting the team. As for J. Cole's exclusion, well that's just baffling.
Dames Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 You have to be a complete fooking idiot to drop Rooney for the next game, too. Not really. In 180 minutes he's not had a decent touch, shot or produced a pass of any decent quality and tonight he just didn't seem to make enough effort. Dropping him might make him pull his finger out his arse and make him decide its time to start performing.
haraven Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 Algeria did well, England lacked it all - motivation and intensity. The team is not working together, and the star players are among the worse on the field. MOTM for trying : Emile Heskey.
Brainy Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 Not really. In 180 minutes he's not had a decent touch, shot or produced a pass of any decent quality and tonight he just didn't seem to make enough effort. Dropping him might make him pull his finger out his arse and make him decide its time to start performing. Right now nobody looks good but next game if you're looking for a player to change the game with one move, i'd trust Rooney more than Heskey to be able to do that.
Tilley Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 Barry was the best English player on the pitch. Lampard and Rooney should be ashamed and Heskey was crap. Joe Cole might aswell come home, doesn't seem like he's going to be used. So angry right now.
Finnegan Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 lol lol And no, I don't give a fuck that Wales aren't in it.
The Doctor Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 People will do it because Rooney, Gerrard and especially Lampard seem to be immune to criticism. that really does baffle - as good as lampard is for chelsea i struggle to remember 1 performance for england that matches the ones he puts in a club level.
Narborough_fox Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 lol lol And no, I don't give a fuck that Wales aren't in it. This. Scotland instead! I would rather not qualify than struggle and get humiliated by minor teams on a World stage.
Finnegan Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 To be fair, for Wales to suffer a similar embarassment we'd have to get shafted by West End United and I think I'd be angry if I had to watch Sparky knock in a hattrick by Hennessey.
WardyisPukka Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 5 live - the manager believes there is too much pressure on the team david james- does he? ( sarcastic tone) sums it up really!!
