England Rumour - probably bolloxs

From another forum.

One of my friends works for a major national daily newspaper in a capacity that exposes him to a lot of news before it breaks.

Apparently, something happend in the England camp the night after the Japan friendly that, in the words of my friend, "will end the England career of 2 or 3 players and will probably see Cappello placed under enormous pressure to resign". The reason the story hasn't broke yet is that the papers have agreed not to reveal it whilst England are still in the World Cup."

Not sure what has happened but it ceratinly may explain the obvious lack of team sprit.

The most unbelievable bit is - "the papers have agreed not to reveal it whilst England are still in the World Cup."

Must have been some kind of Roasting session normally is !

Maybe explains the on the field absence of Joe Cole? He made the differance in the Japan game and hasnt even come off the bench yet.

I still think this rumour is BS tho. One paper would have released it by now, with the amount of money they would see come in.

i'm half expecting something like this to come out (and be true). obviously there was gonna be rumours either way.

it would make sense though, it really has been that bad, although i think the pressure is also too much. the smallest mistakes have lead to fans groans and commentators despairing, far more than for any other country.

as has been said above, it would explain Cole's absense, but he was never guaranteed anyway. lets not forget we were this bad 4 years ago! not sure what my point is - i'm just very confused.

where did u find this DavieG?

Not sure if they are just on about unrest as in poor performances, booing, Rooney's comments, e.t.c, but just switched SSN on as they were going through the headlines and what is coming up and they said "And rumour of unrest in the England camp, we'll cross live to a John Terry news conference at 11am".

Well spoken by Terry. Actually seems like he cares. Good on the lad, but I would of thought Gerrard would of came

out, seeing as he is captain.

Terry says there is no unrest in the England camp but then goes on to say there is a meeting with Fabio Capello tonight and he is calling for a 'Frank exchange of views', 'If anything said offends Capello then so be it, so what' and when asked about what he thinks about Nicolas Anelka being sent home his response is 'Well maybe after tonight some of us might be sent home'.

He said that tongue-in-cheek. There was a little laugh to go with it.

Yeah, but something tells me that SSN won't report that part.

I think this myself.

Joe Cole wouldn't just be completely frozen out for no reason, something has definitely happened.

There were a few days between the japan game and announcing the squad, so if something happened, he could have just not taken him.

I don't know whether to believe this or not. Sounds a bit fishy. I tend to think Capello just doesn't like Joe Cole as a player. I'm not sure why, but out of all the players in the squad over the last year, he seems to have had the toughest time with Capello, with Capello questioning his fitness, even when he was scoring for Chelsea, or questioning his tactical discipline.

Lobbocks

There is NO WAY anything could be hushed up if the papers know about it.

This is 2010.

He was out for a fair amount of time, he even turned to punditery for the domestics because he was sick of not being involved, He then had a very good comeback with a game winning goal against manchester united at old trafford and generaly impressed, he then made below par england pre-tournement games into wins from coming off the bench. This surely merits a start at least over Algeria because Lennon didnt look on top of his game but still started, and even when the capello realised he stuck SWP on, which did improve us but didnt supply a winner that Joe Cole couldve.

Conclusively hes either been abit cocky at the wrong time or hes injured... i guess we'l find out on wends.

If Capello didn't want to take him, he had the easiest excuse with Cole, blame his lack of fitness or game time etc, however he took him.

SWP has been so ineffective both times he has come off the bench, every man and his dog is calling for Cole's inclusion Wednesday night and if he doesn't feature then I think it is fairly certain something has kicked off behind the scenes. Capello, despite what some are saying, isn't stupid, he hasn't had a successful career through luck. He knows Joe Cole is a major attacking threat and one of the most talented members of the squad and has a huge part to play if we are to progress in this World Cup.

We'll have to see what Wednesday brings...

The papers are only interested in making money, if there was something THAT juicy they would be all over it regardless of the damage it causes.

John Terry's coming out a right cock now.

Seems like some of the players have lost even more respect with Terry and there has just been a interview with Fabio Capello on ITV and Capello has just basically said there wasn't a crisis meeting but his door is always open to any player that has problems, there are no problems, and he doesn't understand where Terry's comments have come from.

Personally I think John Terry is just a bitter cock about losing the captain's armband, I think the unrest in the camp is JT.

England defender John Terry could be left isolated within the England camp, with senior team-mates unhappy about him going public yesterday about a clear-the-air meeting with manager Fabio Capello.

Frank Lampard comments;

England midfielder Frank Lampard has said the team's talk with manager Fabio Capello was not the "crisis meeting" former captain John Terry claimed it would be.

Lampard said his Chelsea team-mate spoke out because he wanted to "hit things head-on" but insisted the meeting was the normal post-match dissection of Friday's game.

John Terry told the media there had been "a lack of passion" during the side's goalless draw with Algeria, and promised to voice unhappiness among the players at the pre-planned team meeting with Capello on Sunday night.

Having named eight other senior players who were present during a discussion over a post-match beer following England's dismal draw, it appeared Terry was speaking from a position of authority.

"If we can't be honest with each other there is no point being here," he said.

"It has worked in the past at Chelsea. We have a responsibility to ourselves, the manager and everyone else to voice an opinion and hope he takes it on board."

However, it quickly became apparent that the other senior players were not impressed with the Chelsea captain airing such grievances in public and Capello had taken an equally dim view.

It was suggested to Terry from both team-mates and others inside the England camp that he should keep his mouth shut, and in the event, he did not speak at the meeting.

The centre-back, who was stripped of the England captaincy months before the World Cup started following allegations involving the former partner of ex-team-mate Wayne Bridge, appeared at training with the rest of the team.

It meant England avoided the farcical situation France found themselves in on Sunday when the players refused to practise in protest at the expulsion of Terry's club team-mate Nicolas Anelka from the squad.

Lampard gave his unequivocal backing to Capello, insisting that he wanted him to stay in the job after the World Cup.

He said: "It's always been the same thing with football - you have your up and down moments."

"I've really enjoyed working with him and, yes, I would like him to stay.

"I've been lucky enough to work with some fantastic managers and Fabio Capello is right up there."

Mark Perryman, head of the official England supporters' club, said his first reaction on hearing Terry's comments was one of bemusement that he should be taking on the role of spokesman for the players despite the fact he is no longer captain.

He added that he did not think that dissent within the camp was the main reason for England's inexplicably below-par performances following an impressive qualifying campaign.

Fabio Capello comments;

England boss Fabio Capello has astonishingly hit back at his former captain John Terry after the Chelsea man called for Joe Cole to be picked in a press conference.

Terry also used his audience with the press on Sunday morning to say that players had issues with Capello's management that would be addressed in a team meeting that evening.

But the Italian disciplinarian has said Terry's decision to go public with his concerns was a "big mistake".

Capello believes Terry has been disrespectful to other players in the England squad by calling for Joe Cole to be picked. He says he can't understand why Terry did not speak to him directly.

And he reveals that at the team meeting, he merely played a tape of the first half of the Algeria game. He says he did not speak to individual players about mistakes, but merely watching their performance should have been enough for the players.

Terry is such a tw@t. Every time he speaks he just seems to make even more of a **** of himself.

Well one party's not telling the truth.

I thought Terry came across very well, honest at least and I cannot believe for one minute he was not briefed by the FA before the press conference. Apparently, he was told to keep quiet during the meeting.

There's a breakdown in communication somewhere and either way it suggests there is no united front.

Let's frank (mind the pun), given some of the antics gone before the World Cup even started the camp was never going to be united or at least united enough to work together. They're all nobbers IMO, like little kids. It's fair to say my generation's thirst for the national team was developed by Euro 96 and that we had a team united playing for one another, taking the mickey out of each other. I always believed we won the penalty shoot-out that competition against Spain because the players relished it and they enjoyed it.

It annoys me of this 'boredom' in the camp excuse which further proves there;s no unity....if you all got along reasonably well, you'd enjoy the six to eight weeks giggling and playing with your mates.

Fabio Capello has reacted swiftly to John Terry's public criticism of England's World Cup campaign by saying his ex-captain made a "big mistake".

"When you speak you have to speak privately," the England coach told ITV.

"This is the big mistake - a very big mistake. It's not revolution. It's the mistake of another player - no more."

That sounds like a horse's head in JT's bed tonight!

Be afraid, be very afraid...
