Lack of loans?

Anyone surprised by the lack of loan signings we have made so far? With just over a week left until the big kick-off we have made just 1 loan signing, Miguel Vitor.

Personally I think our team has a solid foundation now but I am surprised that we haven't loaned a 1 or 2 more in, surely the more is better? If we had a few more loanees pushing for a starting place or covering for injuries then it would be ideal. It only takes a few big injurys to key players and we are going to be struggling for squad depth.

Maybe Paulo will make another loan signing before the season starts though.

We're skint, the earlier you sign them the sooner you have to start paying them, as long any prospective loanees and purchases are getting fit with their clubs it's not a big problem as I'm sure he'll not sign anyone he has to coach on how to play a passing game.

I'm pretty sure I heard Sousa wasn't a believer in bringing in loan players anyway? And that he'd rather give Leicesters youngsters a run out rather than a Liverpool one.

Think we've got a pretty decent squad, pretty good potential starting 11, especially when Gallagher is fully fit, the right back situation worries me, and we havent seen this Miguel Vitor play yet, hopfully he's shit hot!! DJ is banging in goals for fun, I know it's all still a bit of grey area, will he go? will he stay? will he score in competitive league games against better oppositions than Oxford United, Peterborough etc ? :dunno:

Don't see a massive need to bring in loan players

with this new 25man squad rule clubs are going to be reluctant to loan out young players as I believe outside the 25 you can only play under 21's, so I imagine players like Waghorn and other promising youngsters will be kept within the clubs and not getting any games just incase they are needed

We are not skint, but we don't have millions to throw around, Paulo came in with a list of players he wanted to try, but once he had a chance to get to know the lads maybe he thought he didn't need to bring many players in, I think he is wrapping up a few deals now which will be announced before the Sunderland game, my guess is a RB, CM and a Forward. Vaughan maybe ?

Er, yes we are skint! Sousa doesn't believe in producing other clubs players.

I pay nothing towards any loan's wage on Football Manager. It's a game that prides itself on accurcy too

I suppose it's a change from the Pearson era, though he did use the loan market very well.

I would like to see our youngsters given a chance. If they succeed then it will boost the confidence and raise hopes of the next set of kids, which is a plus.

Fear not, one could be on his way...

I'm happy to go on loan again, says Ryan

Ryan McGivern is enjoying life back at City - but the Northern Ireland defender is ready to go out on loan again after his season chasing promotion with Leicester.

The Foxes eventually missed out on the Premier League but left-back McGivern is in no doubt that his spell in the midlands was beneficial to his football education.

He has deputised at centre-half for the Under-21 squad's first two games, a 2-0 win at Hyde and a battling 2-1 defeat at Macclesfield, and is looking forward to a new campaign.

He said: "It's good to be back and see the boys again. I'd like to stay and progress to the first team set-up, but there's a lot of good players here so it's going to be difficult.

"It's great to be a part of a club like this, you can only learn from the quality players we've got, but maybe I'll go out on loan again to get some more experience under my belt."

Ryan added: "I ended up spending the full season at Leicester because I stayed on after Christmas. I got 15 games, which was another good experience for me.

"We had a good side and stayed in the play-off positions all season, so it was good to be involved. I made my debut against Palace in a 2-1 win and the 2-0 FA Cup win against Swansea stood out for me as well.

"Nigel Pearson is one of those who gets the best out of his players. His man-management is very good, and I don't think many people expected such a good season after promotion.

"It was a great level to play at and very competitive. They say everybody can beat everybody else in the Championship, and I think there's a lot of truth in that."

I dont remember us beating Palace 2-1 or Sansea 2-0 last season!

Shows how much McGivern enjoyed last season, cant even remember scores.

Or perhaps the writer got the two mixed up? :)

Im pretty glad we gave a certain Liverpool youngster a 'run out' seeing as he ended up signing for us permanently following his loan.
