davieG Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 I suspect all 3, Wellens, Moreno & King will play in a 451 formation with DJ on one wing and Dyer/N'Guessan on the other with Fryatt upfront, a cautious start to the season.
Leicfox Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 Same. In place of Wellens unfortunately. Yeah i also think the same. I don't know why but i just feel that Sousa likes Oakley or Oakley has been sucking up to him in some way, the blue eyed boy and Wellens could be the one who suffers, shame really as Wellens is a great passer of the ball and Sousa's style would suit him no end. We'll have to wait and see.
Jimmy2Drags Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 I think he'll start tomorrow.. I wouldn't touch Oakley with a shitty stick. No pace, no vision & just seemed to be going through the motions most of last season. Any money we get for him would be a bonus. Also, are we still paying Clements for sitting around & doing **** all?

We'll have to wait and see. In Oakley's defence he looked in decent nick last week and the new style suited him. Now it was only a pre-season game but it was much much better than what he produced last season. I would like to see Wellens start with King but I can see why he would start Oakley.

Whos that?? if you mean Clemence then he as retired so we are not paying him!!

unreachable Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 Any news of his international clearance? Various reports say that the usual delays will prevent his debut tomorrow.
davieG Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 Any news of his international clearance? Various reports say that the usual delays will prevent his debut tomorrow. Does he need one with Portugal being an EU member?
unreachable Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 Does he need one with Portugal being an EU member? I wan't meaning a work permit but the international clearance which our FA and foreign Football Associations have to process when a player moves to a different football association.

I too think this will be the way we go, but with Oakley, King and Wellens rather than Moreno. This will be the preferred formation I reckon but Gallagher will be the attacking point of the 3 when he's fit.
VSC! Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 Moreno is a good player and i think he will be success in championship. (i'm suporter of Vitória Guimarães)
Jimmy Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 Any news of his international clearance? Various reports say that the usual delays will prevent his debut tomorrow. would he be fit enough anyway, Portugal's season starts after ours so his pre-season may have only just begun
Collier Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 Why do people that pretend to be foreign think there's no need for 'a' and 'the?'
Thracian Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 We'll see. The signing adds a bit of depth to the squad but it's a big bonus if midfielders can also score some goals and Moreno's record hardly looks distinguished in that department. Managers need to seriously look at where goals are coming from. And if we play the cautious 4-5-1 some have referred to then it's just so hard to see how the two goals a game average we should be aiming for is going to come about. Because Wellens doesn't score either. So we could well be fielding a team with, at best, four potential scorrers - the lone striker, two wide midfielders and Kingy and I'd be amazed if that was enough. Six or seven would be my requirement.

Better set-pieces would bring greater opportunities for the defenders in particular to score, hopefully Sousa has identified that.

I put it down to Thracian's glass being perpetually half empty

I don't see why so many people have simply assumed we'll be playing how Swansea set-up last season. Sousa has played 4-4-2 every pre-season game hasn't he?...and reasonably attacking 4-4-2's aswell, with DJ Campbell coming in off the wing and the game where Gallagher played in attacking midfield. Everyone may be well right and Sousa may set-up 4-5-1 tomorrow, but I'd be surprised as we've not even tried that system in a match situation yet. Let's keep the worrying for the time if scoring does actually become a problem.
davieG Posted 10 August 2010 Posted 10 August 2010 Moreno Cleared For City Debut Posted on: Tue 10 Aug 2010Leicester City's new Portuguese midfielder Moreno has received his International Transfer Clearance and is available to face Macclesfield Town at the Walkers Stadium. Moerno, 29, has signed from Vitoria de Guimaraes and is part of Paulo Sousa's matchday squad for the visit of the League Two side. Moreno travelled to Selhurst Park on Saturday to watch his new team lose 3-2 to Crystal Palace, but may now play some part in Leicester's Carling Cup First Round game.

A good defensive midfielder is exactly what we need, despite what Thracian says...

Corky Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Very promising debut last night, shame he had to go off.
MC Prussian Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Why do people that pretend to be foreign think there's no need for 'a' and 'the?' He could be Portuguese, after all. No need for pretense. (Would you please direct your anger to the "What grinds my gears" thread...)
