mancunianfox Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 To be fair at least we'll have an owner. Remember Milan's got his court case coming up. I hope the stadium is part of the deal. Once we own that we will be considerably better off even without substantial sums being plowed into the club.
James. Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 I'm obviously taking the piss when I mock the wealth of this guy but in all seriousness being worth £113 million doesn't really mean shit when trying to judge how much transfer budget that will translate into. I could be worth 500 billion but if its all tied up in a load of US sub prime mortgages chances are I'm not going to be able to offer much actual cash to a football club. This crook's wealth is probably tied up in his company in the form of assets, property, shares and the like. As such he'll probably go down the route of most wealthy people and raise money by using his assets as collateral for debt. (disclaimer: I know nothing about the guy apart from something about ponies so the above may be a load of crap)

AaronH Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 Haha maybe he will sell his ponies for players? as long as he doesn’t make them train in his field! who is worth more his ponies or robbie neilson
hairy Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 You only have to look at QPR to know that it doesn't matter who owns the club, if they dont splash the cash then nothing will change.
fleckneymike Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 Haha maybe he will sell his ponies for players? as long as he doesn’t make them train in his field! I do love the disappointment at someone worth £180m. A lot of people got very giddy very quickly and dreamt up mysterious billionaires willing to turn us into a global super power forgetting to ask the one essential question. Why invest in Leicester? I'm still quite perplexed as to why a Thai duty free company would want to buy a stake in Leicester, this can't be some philanthropic endeavour so what is in it for them?

James. Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 The business world really isn't about cash - if he has £100+ million of assets then the banks are his best friend Depends what those assets are doesn't it though. And it also depends on how much of his assets are funded by existing debts. I'm well aware that (in theory) banks would be happy to lend money to someone with significant assets but any investment in our club is likely to be debt funded, not out of his own pocket.

dave the caveman Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 Be careful in the club shop from now on guys. King Power is notorious for scams. Most commonly the unsuspecting traveller browses through the shop, then gets accused of stealing, taken away by 'the police' and pressured into handing over some cash. Sometimes a staff member will dump a little something in your bag while you're not looking, other times it's just a plain accusation. Either way, unless you've got your wits about you, you will pay and leave with nothing. On the plus side, i'm sure we'll be able to get some cheap match tickets out of this, provided of course that we're willing to take a look around the local gem shop.

ACF Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 FFS. Yes, we might've been talking billions before. Yes, this guys 'ONLY' worth 100-odd million. BUT IT'S A CONSORTIUM. STOP COM-FOOKING-PLAINING.

It's a band aid buy out (and I don't mean the Bob Geldoff thing). They inject some cash into the club (aka Milan) and we plod along for a few more seasons living beyond our means.
MPH Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 They are probably paying like10m now as we are a champ side, if we get promoted that's when our price goes up and MM makes his money
artursteppe Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 $180 million - is that fucking it? I think it's great having an investor who seems to have three or four times as much financial clout as Milan ( who I understand is only worth £25m - £30m ), as long as he is committed to making us a success. Let's get real shall we? On what we know at the moment how can this news be bad?
lcfcadam Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 i think it's commonly known as talking shit Also sometimes known as making a humorous LCFC-based reference to a very serious news story of a few months back: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8154497.stm
andy_croydz Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 If this takeover were a supermarket it'd be fucking Aldi. Aldi is more expensive than Asda nowadays I went in there around a year ago for the first time in about 10 years, all the food I saw was cheaper in Asda, couldn't believe it. I think Lidl is a better comparison for this takeover

Sir Alex Ferguson Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 This could be really good for the club a little more money to spend on a few new players. No need to go overboard with buying lots of new players as the first team and squad is pretty settled. It's just nice to see Leicester is a position where we don't have to sell players and make a real charge for promotion either this season or next.
lildave3 Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 If this takeover were a supermarket it'd be fucking Aldi. All things in life should be based on a supermarket scale.
