Joe. Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 So this is actually happening. November 13th, M.E.N Arena. Press conference now which is quite entertaining. Haye pretty much laughing off Harrison's mouth so far, which is no surprise really. Hopefully Harrison gets beaten soundly to realise he's nowhere near the level that Haye's at right now. He's only got this fight because of his talk anyway. Looking forward to this anyway, should be a cracker.
Joe. Posted 7 September 2010 Author Posted 7 September 2010 "It's now time for me to go out there and close the Audley Harrison show once and for all. Audley's a big name, but he's known as a boxer that people want to see get destroyed. The public want to see one final high-profile destruction of Audley Harrison, and I'm only too happy to do my duty for the British people." All true.
Fox You Forest Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 Hope he toys with him for a few rounds then knocks him into next year in about the fifth round, can't stand the ****.
Manwell Pablo Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 Is this for a title If so how the hell has Harrison actually got a title shot.
Joe. Posted 7 September 2010 Author Posted 7 September 2010 Is this for a title If so how the hell has Harrison actually got a title shot. Sadly, yes. Haye's took this one on purely on a personal level, to shut Harrison up once and for all. I hope it doesn't backfire on him - either way it's not earning him any worldwide credibility.
Dr The Singh Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 It's about the £££££££££££££££££££££££££ Harrison doesn't deserve jack......both know that there is public interest in the fight, and hence it will put bums on seats and sky box office payments! Haye for me is prolonging his career, and rinsing it for as much miney as he can! Until he fights any of the Klitchko's, all other openents will be a means for him to make more £££££

He got done by Danny Williams and came back, quite sure this wont finish him. Unless Haye compleley batter his to the point he can never box again. I wont say I hope that happens as I am not that nasty anymore, honest.

Well it should stop his mouth about not being given the chance to fight Haye. Get pummelled in this one (which is likely) and it's game over for him. Nobody will take him seriously to the point of not wanting to fight him and he won't get another shot at anything decent. Danny Williams was one thing, but this should hopefully finish him off.
George Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 Haye hasn't got a chin, If Harrison catches him it's goodnight Vienna. Harrison has the ability to knock out Haye, but I expect Haye to dazzle him within 3 rounds. It might not be as clear cut as some people think though.

Harrison is a terrible boxer, He will get Ko'd by Haye no problem! Harrison is frightened of getting punched, every fight of his you watch he is so lumbering & defensive & has no real spark in his punching whereas Haye is the real deal, I remember the explosive Maccaranelli fight & I was very impressed how he took on Valuev even if I was unsure if he actually won at the time ... Haye no probs, be suprised if a bookie was giving any good odds on haye at all.
George Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 Terrible Boxer?? Technically he is very good, his heart is just not in it. Harrison won an Olympic Gold medal, amateur boxing is probably more technical than the blood and thunder of professional boxing and he has won the highest accolade of Amateur Boxing. To say a Boxer is afraid of getting punched is a ridicolous statement aswell. Haye should win comfortably but as Warren has said, Harrison is in with a punchers chance. Haye so far at Heavyweight level has fought a load of novices, Monte Barrett, Valuev - the worlds worst ever World Champion, the bloke had no skill at all. And Ruiz - In his day he was only really a journeyman, Ruiz still wobbled Haye aswell. Haye has a shocking chin, and if he gets tagged, he's on his arse.
dandannieldanok Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 Haye needs to show his true champion credentials here and take Harrison out within 5 rounds at worst. Any performance lesser than that has got to raise serious questions about Haye. Harrison has been a complete shambles throughout most of his pro career, Haye needs to embarass him, not just beat him.
Bert Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 Hope this doesn't come back to haunt Haye. Loved how nonchalant he was in the press conference and Harrison was fretting.

He's had some decent win's his carear just nose dived after Williams did him in the worlds worst boxing match ever! Wouldn't call him a terrible boxer. Title shot though? David Haye? Step to far for Audley I thinks! Although stranger things have happened in boxing.
lildave3 Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 Press conference. And at Audley Harrison in general tbf. Joke. Hope Haye floors him.
Bettsj2 Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 I dont like either of them and the press conference just furthered that. Neither fighter came out with any credit. "My right hand is faster", "No my left hand is faster", "I'll knock you out", "No, i'll knock you out" Ridiculous. As for the fight, I doubt this will be anywhere near as clear as people are making out. Haye is explosive at Cruiserweight but has yet to show that against any calibre of Heavyweight. Whilst Audley isn't what you would consider a high calibre fighter, he is a big unit and is certainly more talented than Valuev so Haye may actually struggle to embarrass him as he claims he will. Harrison is a comletely defensive boxer at pro level. People are saying that Audley doesn't like to get hit. Can anyone find me a boxer that does? I actually think this is a really dangerous fight for Haye to take and I cannot understand why he's taken it. The Klitchko's both offered him fights and he's turned his back for this?? This shows that he's motivated by money alone whereas Audley needs to prove himself. If Audley hits Haye with anything near what he clocked Sprott with then Haye is the one that's going to be left embarrased and if that happens, it's career over. In professional boxing there is always going to be trash talk but if someone isn't at your level then you need to ignore them and carry on with what you're doing. For years Carl Froch bad mouthed Joe Calzaghe calling him all the names under the sun and many people wanted Joe to get in the ring and shut him up, but Calzaghe new that he didnt need to prove himself in that way so just ignored him. Haye should have done the same thing and done what he's been mouthing off about since he beat Valuev and fight one of the Klitchko's. When he turned up at Wladimir's charity press conference in London and said 'any time, any place' why did he turn and run complaining of a bad back? Neither Haye nor Harrison deserve the tag of World Title and whilst it's exciting to have another 'Battle of Britain', the fact that the last one was Lewis vs Bruno shows how far British boxing has fallen.
FoxyPV Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 I may have heard this somewhere but are there not questions around Haye's ability to take a punch
ScouseFox Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 "You think we'll be in the twelfth round still taking shots? I'm gonna be in the after party mate."
Sly Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 For me something along the lines of this YouTube vid would make me happy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkIg0MrrIaE ....... and I know this is UFC but I was speaking in a boxing sense!

Good post this. As you say having had time to mull this over it is all about money, he wont fight one of the Klitchko's in the immediate future as he knows, while it will probably be a massive pay day, defeat would be detremental and would lower his value. And if Haye does fight one the Klitchko's there is a significant chance he will get his block knocked off. There are also a number of upcoming, better fighters who Haye could fight which would be better fights, but they'd be twice the risk and half the purse and whats the point in that? There is a difference between JC and David Haye in that Joe had a wealth of talent to fight who he was confident he could beat, and so fighting Froch was a waste of time. He wasn't worth the effort espeically not at that time of Joe's carear. The Heavyweight Division by comparison is about as weak now as it ever has been, I cannot think of any fights besides fighting a Klitchko's that would land Haye the amount of money as a stand off with Audley. As far as the fight itself goes Haye is obviously techincally a much superior boxer, but as it has been said Audley isn't as bad as alot of people make him out to be, he's certainly as you say twice the boxer Valuev is and also like you say he is a big unit to boot. On top of all of this 10 years of hunting of a title challenge, all the names, all the people telling him he'd fail and never make it, the defeats, the British public turning against him, Harrison will be about as up for this fight as humanly possible. Still think Haye will knock him out but an upset is not impossible.
Simo86 Posted 9 September 2010 Posted 9 September 2010 I loved Haye's comment "This will be as one sided as gang rape" made me chuckle!
