I agree with 1964 sack everyone every 5 games if were not top then if we are top after 5 games sack them when were 2nd after 6 games. If we sack the team the players the board the bus driver the kit man the canteen staff the ground staff the ticket office manager the shop staff the cleaners the hot dog seller the match day programme editor the waiters and finally sack the man who does the sacking and at least the initiator of this thread will be happy :trumpet:

i have every faith in Sousa i think bar palace where we rarely win anyway we have had a tough fixture list. we deserved to beat Palace or at least get a draw, deff deserved to beat cov and boro. Burnley was a off day and reading i just cant explain so ill blame sky lol

I've not read anybody post that at any stage. This forum's here for people to offer viewpoints.

Also, people keep banging on about "all these 'Sousa out' threads". I've not seen any?

Am I missing something?I hate to be a pedant, but our start has been so bad we couldn't possibly be in the play-offs within a fortnight, despite the fact that we have 3 games (and before anybody tries to be clever, the other fixtures being played would dictate that the 6th placed team would have at least 12 points by then).

So you are saying it's possible we could be in a play off position in 4 games, you can't be right cause a lot of people are suggesting our season is over and we have no hope of redeeming it. Oh good there's no need to panic then as it's quite possible we could end up doing ok.

The league table doesn't lie, and that's the worrying part for me. Five games in and still no league victory. We haven't done that for 16 years, and even then it was a newly-promoted Premiership side making a step up, not a side that was agonisingly close to Wembley the season before.

I really hope we can at least one of these two home matches this week. The performance was there on Saturday, need the result now, and quickly.

Equally tired of these pointless threads spewing doom and gloom drivel

In 2006/7 Sunderland lost their first 4 league games (and were still 19th mid November). Yet they went on to win the Championship with style that same season.

Not saying we're going to win this league, just appealing for a heavy dose of perspective

This sort of knee jerk thread is starting to bore me and hardly warrants a reply - but i'm sick and in the mood for it.

It's only relegation form if it's spread over a season, over 5 games, at any other point in the season it would be 'a blip'.

whilst the table may not lie, it reveals other truths than just that we are second bottom on two points, it reveals that there are plenty of decent teams in similar positions to us, a couple of results (and at least we look capable of winning) and we'll be back up pushing for the playoffs.

it's very unlikely that we will have two teams as dominant as newcastle or WBA this season, the rest don't look especially brilliant or even consistent.

I can't think of any business where a manager would be employed to perform a restructure of staff, and in the first few weeks of his job have said staff performing in a completely different way and to a reasonable standard - and then be sacked within the first month. Not good business practice.

i don't get you lot sometimes - we go through a phase of half a dozen odd managers in the space of a couple of seasons and play the worst footy ever, finally get some stability, finally mandaric learns to be patient and you lot want him to start sacking people after 10 minutes because 'the table dont lie'.

Lord help us.

:appl: :appl: :appl: spot on we are going to be ok & one day soon 1 team is going to get a right tonking off us for sure hope its cardiff

I'm ever impressed with the perpetual optimism of the City faithful. Without doubt, the performance at Cov deserved a win and we look like we are going to give some team a good spanking if everything gels.

HOWEVER...... the table don't lie and football is a points business - 2 points from a possible 15 is relegation form and, in business, would have warranted a sacking....

How long do we give Sousa to get it right? If we lose to Cardiff tomorrow do we then start to become very concerned?

Not being pessimistic, just looking at facts....

Opinions please

I really don't give a shit. We've had such a misguided and unfruitful approach in so many of our recent sesons that having seen a manager at least trying to give us some real class I'm prepared to be patient.

We've already been relegated once and still we didn't return with a side that had any sort of style or panache nor did we have any sort of policy that was ever going to make us a force for the future.

As for the facts you mentioned it a fact that MON took ages to record his first League win and we should have had two more goals this season which would have left us in a completely different league position anyway.

I'm sick of the stick Sousa's getting for presiding over some of the best football we've played for years...the same style of football that won Championships for the best Leeds team I ever saw.

It's not Sousa's fault we've got strikers who are effectively suffering from footballs form of brewer's droop and can't get it in the net whatever they do.

Sousa pre-warned that it would take time and I for one believed him. Be thankful he's Portuguese not an Arab when it comes to getting things done. Cos I'm having a bedsit built in Dubai and won't bother telling you how long that's taken!

What matters is that we build a proper foundation for once in our existence. We're not going up this season and never were because pre-season was a shambles all round and effectively scuppered our chances from the start.

What matters is that Sousa is allowed to build and shape a proper team that can sustain a proper challenge at this and an even higher level. And those "Pearson be Praised" voices were kidding themselves that his approach was ever going to achieve that. We played nothing better than bread and better football and far too many times the bread was stale - even in Divisin One.

But I thought earlier on in the thread we'd established that five games into a 46 game season (which I believe means there's still 123 points up for grabs) the league table does lie?

Yh this type of response is tiresome now but......

Judge us after around 15 games not 5. We've been playing well plus it's the championship - every team (bar the champions themselves) seem to have a bad run at some point.

Remember last season when we lost 4 in a row just before the crunch end of the season but then won 4-0 against QPR?

Well what's different now? Nothing

It's the burning issue.

I thought about starting a thread about Sousa's recent haircut and his trousers not being quite long enough, but I don't think it would capture everyone's imagination enough to make it a classic

:crylaugh::cit's true...

Good post though Thracian.

I know one win does not a season make but can we at least have some apologies for the amount of shit we've forced to listen to and the countless Sousa out posts.

Quite. The league table doesn't lie AT THE END OF MAY. In mid-September, it's complete BS.

Damn straight. Pretty much all the teams in this league will have a 5 game run without picking up more than 2 or 3 points. As Val said, at any other point in the season this would just be a blip.

Take a look at how we're playing. You done that? Properly? Well, what do you know, as LCFCADAM said, apparently the table does lie.
