WE ARE GOING UP Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 Out of the 5 missing we only had Olofinjana against Hull and to be fair you looked a much better outfit than them. You were better than Pompey, Doncaster...I missed Derby but im sure you played better than them. Sousa looks a good manager and gets his team playing very attractive football so you should kick on from this and id be suprised if you werent challenging at the top of the league this year. We need a new physio i think! Best of luck for the rest of the seaon
Ford Super Sunday Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 One thing is now for certain. Football League, can we PLEASE play all our games in midweek? Our team doesn't seem to like Saturday afternoon or evenings at all.

dandannieldanok Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 Nice video, cheers. Not sticky for me.
Koke Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 Oh King. Bound to get into double figures again this season.
The Doctor Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 Fair play, a well deserved win for you lot. I thought the first half was pretty even, and we looked the better side after Naylors screamer (cue the cries of 'fluke') and half time came at a bad time for us. Second half we were outplayed and out-witted. Burke was ineffective, Whitts was anonymous. Gavin Rae shouldnt be allowed 90 seconds nevermind 90 minutes. Keogh can't play as a lone striker. Two good goals from King, best player on the park by a mile. But anyone who thinks you would have got 3 points if even 2 of our 5 players missing had played is seriously deluded. 4 of those 5 players are our best players. Drinkwater will be one for the future, Olofinjana is a beast and everytime ive watched him its clear he's too good for this division. Head and shoulders above anyone else in midfield. Then we have Bellamy, Bothroyd and Chopra who would've run your team ragged last night. Every team has injuries so im not making excuses. The best team on the night won. But lets see where we are come May... WE ARE GOING UP probably, but for them to do that you'd actually need to get the ball out of your half with more frequency than you did.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 Great result. Pity I missed it. Well done Andy King, a local lad from nearby Maidenhead. Come on Leicester, keep it going.
Sk4 Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 There's absolutely no doubting the quality you have. We'd probably have been murdered last night if you had everyone available as our confidence has been shot, but we are also capable of playing some devastating football and thankfully we got some luck with you turning up with half a side. I expect you to walk this league with the players you have, if you don't then i'll be surprised.
Sk4 Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 They had chopra and boothroyd here last year dont remember you beating us in the league game at the walkers i know you did us in the play off semi down here but we did you did you at your gaff only to be done by a penalty chip . You dont hold any fears for us i d be happy to play you every week
Finnegan Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 Bellers sulks and becomes ineffective when he can't get the ball (hello Montenegro) and Chopra and Bothroyd would have been pointless without service. Of course you'd have been better with them but you massively overstate by how much. You still had key creative figures like Jace Koumas and Witt getting outplayed in midfield. You could have had Pele upfront and still not won with the service Keogh got.
MrSpaM Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 These Cardiff fans saying they would have slaughtered us if their whole team was fit are just plain dumb, or obviously wernt at the game. What good would have 3 top class strikers been if their not getting any service from anywhere on the pitch, they created pretty much nothing, and only scored by complete fluke (which their now claiming was a "screamer"). Their problem was with their defence, and their complete lack of pace at the back, we turned them inside out, and their back four were pretty much first team selections, so this excuse just dosnt stand in my opinion. We would have won last night regardless of who they had up front.
Koke Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 Cardiff are no mugs though. Any side missing 5 first teamers, especially attacking players, would struggle against any decent side. Nonetheless, come the end of the season I think we won't finish far from each other. I won't be surprised if we finished neck to neck like last season.
MrSpaM Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 No doubt their missing players are quality, and would have provided them with a few more chances, but for the manager to stand their afterwards in an interview and basically say "we have no plan B, if we have injurys to our key players, were going to lose" is laughable
nickelbyfox Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 Jones was pretty dismissive about Foxes after the defeat though, what happened between him and Sousa? Also strange how Swansea said fans claimed Sousa hated talking to the press, seems to be saying 'deep' things after matches now about players and his feelings haha

Nonetheless, come the end of the season I think we won't finish far from each other. I won't be surprised if we finished neck to neck like last season. Of course Cardiff aren't a poor side. You should know that I almost more than anyone on this forum will happily put my hand up and say that. Put the Cardiff poster being smug and talking to us like we're some League Two side that pulled off a cheeky snatch-and-grab against a weakened Cardiff is a little far fetched. They were missing a few key strikers but as we've said - they wouldn't have been able to do much about the fact we spent most of the game passing the ball around happily in their half. Bellamy - their alleged biggest loss - isn't a frantic presser, he's not a tireless defensive worker. As I said, he's a sulk that easily drifts out of games when his team don't have the ball. We've had an awful start and it's taken us a long while to adjust to this system but we're still largely the same team that battered them 3 - 2 at their place and were one suspect Chopra penalty shout away from replacing them at Wembley and they're largely the same side that were stuffed. Let's not lose sight of that or have them do so either.
maddog Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 We were brilliant and easily deserved all 3 points. Cardiff showed absolutely no attacking intent in the first 20 minutes, we literally had close to 90% possession it seemed, passing the ball around along the floor lovely, we did everything right but score at the beginning. Every time Cardiff got the ball, they had it for 3 seconds at most, we either pressed them and won it back quickly or forced them into a hopeful punt ball up field which the defence or Ikeme tidied up. Words can't describe how terrible Cardiff were, then out of nowhere they get a bit of space and fire in a hopeful cross, which i'm sure must have been wind assisted and then flew into the goal from 40 yards+ It seemed our luck had well and truly run out, they then gained confidence while we were suddenly under pressure, 1-0 down when dominating, they could have snatched a second and virtually ended the match. Wellens and King totally ran the midfield, backed up by the truly awesome Robbie Neilson up the right, who takesover Dyer as the best performer of the season so far for me, charged up that right hand side with a little more pace than normal, and whipped in some stunning crosses. He also made a lot of excellent clearing headers and neatly timed sliding tackles. Some of the criticism of him last season was harsh, this season he has been brilliant. Then theres Dyer who seems to have bulked up and gained a lot of pace, charging forward like a bull forcing the Cardiff players back. And with Waghorn who clearly has that extra bit of quality cutting inside and shooting at will, he will score eventually, Cardiff just stood off him and let him. Howard should have scored with his weak header that was cleared, one of the weak links in our side, and how Waghorn didn't despatch at the back post who knows. I said to my mate at half time if we continue to play football and pass it around we are going to win this, i remained confident and that positive attitude was rewarded in the 2nd half. A lovely cross to King, who will be in the Premier League very soon, headed in, and the 2nd goal was even better. Dyer was unlucky to clip the post, we deserved more goals. Oakley and Howard remain the weakest links in our side, as they have been for the last few seasons. Howard barely won any headers, combined with his woeful ball skills, lack of pace and amount of free kicks he concedes we would be better off without him. Oakley<N'Guessan<Gallagher<Wellens<Dyer<King Oakley never scores goals, sets up goals, gives the ball away and wastes set pieces. I would loan out Oakley for definite and reduce Howard to an impact sub at the most. All in all a superb entertaining night of football, it was also nice to see Morrison back in the fold, and we will beat the League leaders Saturday, for sure.
