Ash Posted 18 September 2010 Posted 18 September 2010 So far this season ive to the following games (Palace,Cov,QPR,Reading).... And not one of these games has Wellens impressed me. His distribution is piss poor and gives away alot of fouls, He was at fault for Covs goal last week and today he was dross! Why is it all of a sudden hes trying to be like Beckham and do 50 yard passes?! He should stick to do what he does best , what a defensive midfielder should do - Break down the play and give it our attacking players! ..........Maybe playing next to that waste of space Oakley doesnt help, but Wellens can be a good Championship player IF he sticks to what he does best! Rant over!

stifler Posted 18 September 2010 Posted 18 September 2010 people dont reolise what wellens does in midfeild. he breaks up attacks, forces them out wide & is a good distributer of the ball. people were saying the exact same thing about king this time last year. if you pay attention to how he plays, and his positoning and the passes he picks out. you would see what i mean. & he set up both goals at cardiff on tuesday.

Wellens is a vital cog in the Leicester midfield, he wins key free kicks in the defensive area, often makes passes which turn defence into attack, and has usually played a key pass somewhere in every decent Leicester move. Saying that, today he was poor by his standard, but there is absolutely no way you could ever call him utter shite.

He tries to do all these dummies like Messi which never work and another example when he tried to kick the ball off a QPR player and it missed and went out for there corner. He's just pathetic. Wellens is a good player, though is definitely not a defensive midfielder, so dunno what the OP's on about. Oakley is the DM, Wellens is more of a genuine central midfielder. His main problem is that he sometimes needs too many touches, or too long on the ball, which is a problem against teams who really press him (like today). He's clearly not shit though.
