Ric Flair Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 If you look at the players our glorious manager signed for Swansea and the players he has signed for us compared to the players he had already inherited at both clubs you can blatantly see that the chap is clueless in the transfer market. On saturday he played two of his signings, one of them being Martyn Waghorn who we had last season and very much like Nathan Dyer, he was a player the club urged him to sign and not the other way around. That goalie he has bought in is absolutely shocking, i've not seen anyone as bad as him in the sticks for us in all my days. Even Rab Douglas was more assured that this shithouse. Lamey has vanished off the face of the earth and it's not that much of a loss. Moreno was shocking in every game bar Middlesborough and has thankfully been dropped. Crncic is a myth, he doesn't exist. Vitor will probably never play for us either due to injury and looking like an alien. Moussa is a lower league player who again won't make an impact this season, but will be ready to go for us in League One next season if Paulo keeps things ticking over for us. That leaves Yuki Abe. A player likely to possess some class but will probably never make a name for himself for whatever reason. Add all of these nuggets to the squad we already have, who Sousa has managed to make a lot of them deteriorate in ability and you have a recipe for relegation. Lump on.
Lillehamring Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 hmmm, well. lamey's only missing out because neilsen is playing very well. i thought moreno showed a lot of potential in the match i saw, but clearly his game isn't suited to aerial battles, it looks like he is probably a better defensive mid, and i don't think morrison is doing any where near enough to keep him out, hopefully we will see vitor come in and do a job - but it's hard to criticise vitor as a bad signing as he's not played. moussa looked ok when he played, apparently, but, again, the midfield we have seems the most settled part of the squad at the moment. crncic seems to be the most enigmatic, as no striker has looked worthy of a start so far this season.
J.Lisemore Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 Laugh all you like, were hovering around the bottom of the league for a reason. Weve signed too many average players.
Lillehamring Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 Laugh all you like, were hovering around the bottom of the league for a reason. Weve signed too many average players. because fryatt howard and gallagher can't score?
Phil Ken Sebben Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 Agree the keepers not up to much. I'd rather see Logan start while Chris is out. But to say Sousa is clueless is a bit wide of the mark. If he is given a decent amount of money in Jan I think we'd see some good players come in. OK he's signings haven't been great buys. Waghorn and Yuki Abe were no doubt signed by the club, but the rest must be down to Sousa. Though I believe he needs at least two seasons to make the team his own. Let's not make the same mistake as we did with Allen and Holloway. Both good managers who were pushed out because they (in my view, were rushed into making panic signings).
J.Lisemore Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 because fryatt howard and gallagher can't score? Yep that also. I know its early doors, but from what i've seen, the squad we have now is no improvement of what we had last season.
Messi Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 Phil Ken Sebben, I disagree that Allen was forced into rushing to sign players, he had the whole summer and he wanted to buy/sign everyone, and look at the shite that he signed Carl Cort, Kaebi, Campbell, Jimmy Neilson and that's just the ones I can think of
teblin Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 I too am not convinced by the signings but am going to try to put a positive theory forward whilst I also clutch at some straws. Well here it goes, maybe mr sousa has signed players that are capable but we are not seeing them play because of the language barrier. And the whole players need to be intigrated is not an excuse but true. There are players that have gone on to be very good players for this club that haven't hit the ground running. As I said I may well be clutching at straws but trying to find a positive.
Mack Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 Cracking post. And to make things worse Mandy could no longer give a fook and the King Dong Power boys are as Green as a new born babies shit.
Guest ttfn Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 Christ alive, if you're going to mock what the guy's said, at least explain why. All seems fairly logical and thought out to me. But I suppose if you can show yourself to be a seriously cool dude by just putting a laughing icon down he must be wrong.

MC Prussian Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 See, the question that I'm asking myself in terms of recent transfers is - how many of those (foreign) players were actually on Sousa's own wishlist? Or were some of these names imposed on him? Speculations over speculations...
Edmund Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 Sousa said goalkeeper Chris Weale was back in full training after a shoulder injury and revealed the club had agreed with Wolverhampton Wanderers to extend keeper Carl Ikeme's loan spell.Ikeme was due to return to Wolves after Friday's Championship clash against Pompey, but will now remain with City. "Chris is close to 100 per cent," said Sousa. "He is training without any restriction and he can be in the reckoning for tonight's game. We have also extended Carl's loan.
Ric Flair Posted 21 September 2010 Author Posted 21 September 2010 He has extended the loan? Oh my god.

Vitor & Ade are in line to start tonight at Portsmouth. I believe (to cut a long story short) Sousa is playing the type of football which is suited to a better class of player, & ours basicly are not quite good enough to produce that wonderful final ball that our striker will need to have a scoring oppertunity. The players that he has brought in have not had a long enough period of first team action to yet be judge realisticly by any of us, so i am not going to slate any one of them as yet.
Koke Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 Ikeme is shocking. He is due a right howler any time soon.
Koke Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 I still have faith in Sousa. His signings are worrisome but his footballing philosophy is the right one. Once our usual attacking players get into gear, we'll do well. Relegation is nonsense talk.

And because he is absolutely useless positonally, physically, on the ball, in the tackle and at picking passes.
Kilworthfox Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 And because he is absolutely useless positonally, physically, on the ball, in the tackle and at picking passes. Not even played 2 games pal Former Dutch International, 29... obviously terrible

You are absolutely correct. Our squad don't have the technical ability to play the football Sousa wants us to play. But instead of bringing in a host of players that do have the ability, he's bought in some very dubious players and now doesn't pick them for reasons already highlighted. We are creating the chances but not putting them away. We did this a lot last season, missing lots and lots of gilt edged chances but because we were fitter and defensively organised, we nicked goals that won us matches. We just simply aren't doing that this season. If Sousa can't get us to grind out results and doesn't have the ability to bring in quality players within budget then he falls short and we'll have a battle on to stay up. This is ridiculous as well given this league is the weakest it's been for years in terms of there being no clear dominant teams.

I don't really see that alot has actually changed player wise, if anything we are a better squad... Since last season... We have lost: D J Campbell Spearing We have gained: Waghorn on a permanent basis Abe Lamey Moreno Vitor Tunchev hopefully fully fit at the end of this month? What we seem to have also gained is a superior viewpoint on how the game should be played at this level. I believe that whilst this is wonderful to watch, it is equally frustrating to see Leicester dominate possesion & attractive play only to achieve less that our play deserves. After 6 games it is apparent that Sousa has had an effect, but it has not been positive when compared with last seasons performances. I believe in his way to play the game, it is genuinely how Arsenal & Barcelona try to entertain & achieve by classy displays. Sousa however well intentioned may be introducing a type of football that is beyond certain member of the team. IMO a great manager gets the best out of his players ability, I think Sousa is trying to play the best football possible, but with sub standard players for that system, therefore when we have the posession, that little extra needed is just not there on a regular enough basis to create the guilt edged chances which our forwards have not been getting at all this season. Note our top scorer is King with 4! This squad is certainly good enough to make the playoffs as we all know, the football Sousa has introduced is good enough to belong in the Premership, but fusing those 2 things together is not a recipe for promotion it seems after 6 games. That said i would not be suprised to see us smash 5 or 6 tonight ha ha
