FrankieADZ Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 i thought we played pretty well first half then half way thru the second, until that Josh Wright fella of scunny start to get more of the ball in the middle of the park. But we did look alot better in a 4 4 2 formation, altho in my view Berner looked rusty and Vitor looked like a fish out of water at right back, altho they didnt do anything wrong, they just didnt look to the normal standard we've seen before. Just hoping now with Sven coming in he take Chris P under his wing, to sort groom him for the Job after him. Its a great feeling just to think i can watch SSN,read the papers and not have to skip past the City game....is that sad?
Thracian Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 Well, you just knew we would win today - it was the easiest forecast on the coupon and how grateful for some welcome relief we all are. But anyone who found themselves impressed by our performance today must have seen a different match from the one I watched. For the first hour or so S****horpe were worse than poor and had we taken just our easy chances we should have been three or four goals ahead. How Howard turned his chance right across the goal and wide from a few feet I don't know and how Waghorn missed the target from what was little more than a tap-in was equally extraordinary. Our football went back to being predictably functional which is fair enough in the circumstances but in the last quarter we really did do our best to throw it all away and for reasons we just never learn to get away from. At 2-0 we inexplicably moved into sit-back mode. S****horpe started to use the width at will and were simply allowed to rain pressure on our penalty area with the result that they not only scored but were also also allowed to make chances they never threatened earlier and which utterly flattered them. Powell/Stowell surely pleased us all by bringing back Wellens and Hobbs, we closed down quickly and despite some shoddy passing showed that Scunny could be taken apart with anything passed quickly between them and behind them. Dyer could have ripped them to pieces had we fed him more than scraps and the same applied to Waghorn - mercifully restored to a central-striker role - when at his sharpest early on. But eventually we spluttered into a two-goal lead and then returned to our familiar habit of playing a central midfielder on the wing! Why the hell we ever do it remains a mystery to me but the last 15/20 minutes was a shambles (apart from the goal) as we ran out of energy and started playing cling-on with what might have been costly consequences. Yes we plundered a third with arguably our best move of the game but let that 3-1 scoreline kid no-one. This result flattered us and S****horpe looked like a team heading only one way...and that's downwards.
jonno24 Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 Quitest ever heard L and k block today!! Which prison were you listening to the match from ?
1964FOX Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 We won today and got three points and everyone seems to be moaning because we didn't take S****horpe apart with nice flowing totally dominant attacking football. Strangely some of those picking today's performance to bits are the same ones that were begging for a scruffy win rather than playing all this fancy football under Sousa. Some people are never satisfied.

1964FOX Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 Just being honest. We're all glad we won today doesn't mean we have to pretend it was a great performance. So what has to happen for people to be happy then? We won and we didn't leak lots of goals, they obviously will need time to get confidence back and probably adapt to another style of play under Sven. Surely people don't think Paulo would leave and we would instantly transform into a championship winning side overnight.
Rob7 Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/bbc_radio_leicester Use this. Doesnt work for matches though. But Pearson added: "When you're on holiday and you find out that the consortium that subsequently takes over [the club] has been shown round while you're the manager and you don't know anything about it, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out what's happening. "What I would say is that now I'm working for people who clearly want me to stay there and be their manager. "The jury may be out in terms of the fans at the moment, but I have a good working relationship with my superiors, which I certainly didn't with the chief executive at Leicester City." From Radio Leicester

marbelladave Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 Bloody weather, bloody M1, three and a half hours to get home, Tucker it! Didn't much like the line up when it was announced, had a really 'old fashioned' look about it, 4-4-fooking-2, practically medieval. We set up Pearson style, riged and inflexible and to be honest I really did not think we played that well, thank heavens S****horpe were absolutely hopeless. We got forward well enough first half, good strike from Waghorn but otherwise our forward play was poor, Waghorn did not look fit and looked a bit lazy if anything, didn't run the channels and rarely got past Howard, disappointing. Howard was his usual combative self, always involved and did a good job of encouraging and cajoling his team, if he could actually play football he would be pretty useful. Gallagher put in more effort than we have seen in some time but was somewhat off the pace (fitness?), set up the first goal and made a few good telling contributions but faded badly, Dyer on the other hand looked a bit lost, playing much too deep he worked quite hard but was largely ineffective. All in all though we attacked consistently our finishing was really poor, Waghorn and Howard were the main culprits, Dyer was rarely involved around the box and even the usually reliable Andy King missed a couple of half decent chances, a better Leicester would have been up 3 or 4, S****horpe were woeful. Second half started in much the same vein but S****horpe started to fight their way back just as Dyer made his first (and only) really effective contribution and scored a decent goal at his second attempt. Despite the goal S****horpe's fight back continued to gather momentum and they began to over run us, as usual in these circumstances our midfield just melted away, Scunny were all over us and our defense was getting more jittery by the moment. When it came their goal on the hour mark was messy but well deserved and for much of the final half hour we were under the cosh. Our defending was very much in the style of last year, very physical and no nonsense but as usual, distribution was terrible, simply gifting the ball back to the opposition. Abe came on for a near comatose Gallagher and despite giving the ball away quite badly on a couple of occasions his pace and effort was first class. He was unable to change anything though, S****horpe continued to pour forward and City were lucky not to concede the equaliser, fortunately S****horpe's finishing was just as bad as ours. Moussa was brought on to tighten up the left flank for the last five minutes and his well taken goal was a rather undeserved bonus. All in all the result was fantastic, the performance less so, to be honest I don't think we were much improved over recent games but we did play a simple 4-4-2 which at meant that, most of the time at least, our players seemed to know what they were doing. This seemed to improve confidence somewhat, particularly at the back and there was more commitment that we have seen this season, but to suggest that this was anything other than a minor improvement brought about by a back to basics move by Powell and Stowell would be delusional. It was great to see us get a win, but a decent team, and we have played one or two recently would have buried us. Still, it was a better performance born out of greater effort and application, and no doubt a little relief that Sousa (I can say his name now) was gone.

Some people are unecessarily negative in their posts, over emphasising the down side, I guess they are just pessimistic in general and I am optimistic so favour the positives.
Bob Farley Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 So pleased with the result and the willingness to do well from the lads today.

Jackirius Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 When scunthorpe scored, why didnt we tart the ball out of the stadium or jump on it so they couldnt get it?
lcfc_jme Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 Just seen the highlest on the Football League Show.. King pulling Waghorn's shirt back on to stop him from getting booked was ****ing priceless !! (evidently I don't know if Wag managed to get it off after and was eventually booked 'cos the highlights cut off before then!)

lildave3 Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 ha loved how king stopped waggy taking his shirt off!! love those 2 Just about to say this! King
Unabomber Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 King Can't believe we didn't get to see Powell's heroic run and celebration.
Koke Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 Waghorn's finish looks better on TV than it did at the ground. Or perhaps it's just me.
Lillehamring Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 I just don't get the negativity surrounding Sven People are talking about his desire for money but didn't he tear up his £2.4 million contract at Notts County rather than sue them to get it paid up? polar opposite of a certain mr wise - nice to see there are still some ethical people in the game-
dandannieldanok Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 Read a few comments over a couple of threads saying that Waghorn should have a had a clear penalty. Personally, I thought he took a dive and realised it as he was doing it, hauling himself up pretty much straight away. Would have been an incredibly soft penalty in my opinion, certainly one that everyone would have moaned at had it been the other way around.
