Guest Bilo Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 What would it be? Suggestions on Bentleys include Stoke in 2008, the 1963 FA Cup Final, Atletico at home in 97 and Wycombe at home. Personally I'd have gone for Wycombe at home, if we'd won as expected we'd have made the semi-final of the cup and possibly maintained the league form that had taken us to 4th in the table. It's no coincidence that we lost so many on the spin after that defeat, absolutely murdered morale.
stripeyfox Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Aside from the obvious changing a result to avoid us being relegated, I'll tackle this from the point of view of the defeat that hurt the most; the one which bothered me for weeks and months afterwards, and without a doubt that was the FA Cup 5th Round Replay in 1997 at Stamford Bridge. A wonderful performance from the Foxes that night, only to be undone with that last minute extra time penalty awarded when Erland Johnson was "fouled" in the box. Franck "Letterboxhead" Lebouef stepped up and scored. Never been so gutted after a game.

cc_star Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Aside from the relegation season, of course I'd sooner have lost to Leeds in the last round of the Carling Cup, the last thing we need is a defeat tonight as we try and build momentum, we could do with a week on the training pitch not having it interrupted by preparations & recovery from this cup game tonight
sdb Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 yeah the Wycombe game...jeez. Surely has had the biggest impact on this club.

We have never been the same team since.

Jimothy Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Gotta agree with Wycombe in the FA Cup. Started the downwards spiral that eventually led us to League One. After that it would be Chelsea in the FA Cup in 1997, that game still makes me angry.

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Quite a few from 2003/04, so we would have stayed up, which we should have done if we could defend in the last minute. I'd either change; Wolves 4-3 Leicester, Middlesbrough 3-3 Leicester, Tottenham 4-3 Leicester.
ACF Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Look, in games I remember... Chelsea in the cup, and playoffs last season.
Master Fox Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Wycombe. God that was so awful. I still remember that day so vividly. Soul destroying. Witnessing it live made my stomach turn. I've never felt like crying before at game but this one, makes me feel ill thinking about it. It's only a football game and you're going to lose some big games sometimes, but you can get over it. But this was something different. It makes me angry and upset just thinking about it. Like others have said, that result changed everything. We were a different and lesser club after this , we'd lost so much more than a place in the FA cup Semi Final that day. We're still recovering, so sad.

Corky Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 The 0-5 match v Bolton on the first day of the 2001/02 season. The Wycombe one is the most obvious but if we'd managed to beat Bolton we might've done okay that season.
Wolftoadfox Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 We beat Liverpool with Junior in the team !!!! Wycombe's long gone now and it proved what we all now know, Taylor was GASH. I'd change this season's 6-0 !!!!

All 3 of these were horrible to take and being away aswell was horrible ..... but spurs finished 4-4 But I got to agree with majority the wycombe or chelsea games
mikey54 Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 1974 - Defeat to Liverpool in the semi final of the FA Cup after a replay. Some great players in that team - Shilton, Whitworth, Worthington, Glover, Weller, Sammels, Birchenall. Liverpool went on to win the cup that year beating Newcastle 3-0 - I honestly thought it was our year at last

fox123 Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Obviously Wycombe was horrible and what transpired after. I also hate this... Wolves comeback stuns Leicester Premiership pictures Wolves 4-3 Leicester Have your say on the 606 pages Wolverhampton Wanderers produced one of the comebacks of the season to beat Leicester City in a thrilling bottom-of-the table clash at Molineux. Colin Cameron scored a brace, while Alex Rae and Henri Camara scored one each in Wolves' second half revival to help secure only the home side's second Premiership win. But it was more misery for Leicester, who suffered their fifth consecutive league defeat. The visitors had made a blistering start after two goals from Les Ferdinand and a third from Riccardo Scimeca gave the Foxes a 3-0 lead at half-time. KEY MOMENTS 12 mins: A Ferdinand header puts Leicester in front 15 mins: Ferdinand grabs his second from another Izzet corner 35 mins: Ferdinand sets up Scimeca for Leicester's third 52 mins: Cameron begins the Wolves revival 60 mins: Cameron gets his second with a penalty 68 mins: Rae levels the score with a header 86 mins: Camara scores the winner The first real chance of the game went to Wolves in the 11th minute as Henri Camara unleashed a shot from the left side of the penalty area, only to be denied by a brilliant save from Ian Walker. But a minute later, Ferdinand set the tone of the opening half, heading home Muzzy Izzet's inswinging corner for the first of three Leicester goals before the break. In the 15th minute, the evergreen striker got on the end of another Izzet corner to stretch the Foxes' lead and notch up his first double since December 2001. Scimeca piled on the misery for Wolves with a third goal just before the break, latching on to a pass from Ferdinand 25 yards out. If Wolves continue to show this fighting spirit, they might well stay up From Lord Voldermort Have your say on 606 But the Dave Jones' team refused to lie down and produced a spirited comeback in the second half. Just seven minutes after the break, Cameron started the revival, slotting the ball in the bottom left corner after a free-kick by Hassan Kachloul. In the 60th minute, Cameron closed the gap with his second of the day, scoring a penalty after a handball from Keith Gillespie. And, less than 10 minutes later, Rae headed home Wolves' third to put the home side in reach of victory. Then in the 86th minute, Camara sealed the comeback, connecting with Dennis Irwin's cross six yards out to cap a truly memorable day at Molineux
Wilkesy Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Has to be Wycombe. We have only just started going forwards after many years of heading backwards since that defeat. 2000/01 Season Review
Wolftoadfox Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 If you on about pompey result it was 6-1, not that it makes much of a difference ... again was a horrible night Very true, I forgot about our one reply to their six, shocking game, made worse being on Sky
stripeyfox Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Obviously Wycombe was horrible and what transpired after. I also hate this... Wolves comeback stuns Leicester Good shout. I remember this - I was on holiday in the Lake District with the missus and we were driving round and had to head back to Ambleside over the Hardnott Pass. For anyone who knows the area it is a spectacular drive through rugged countryside with no MW radio reception. We had just gone 3-0 up when the Radio 5 crackled off which obviously pleased me. When the signal came back I was more than a little bit shocked and annoyed to find we'd lost 4-3.
