Agree with pretty much all of that. I said the same about Howard, I'm not his biggest fan and I admit that but if we are going to play him (and I accept his merits) he DOES need a strike partner just off the shoulder.

Oh and good shout on the offside, amongst all the drama I actually forgot about that, I swear their first was miles off. I'd like to see it again.

Looked offside to me too, think it was a good shout

First half wasn't too bad, but you could easily tell who was the Premier League side. Although their 1st goal was quite lucky to bounce to Cox, they controlled the 1st half and dictated the play. Second half we were MUCH better- looked much more up for it and hungry. Then we got the goal, and I thought we were on top. THEN, that mistake from Logan- really was extremely poor, just slipped through his hands. After that, it was game over. Our confidence looked gone, and they controlled it from then on. They easily controlled the game, and we had no fight left in us- when we were losing 3-1, and had the ball in a crossing position, the only person to aim at in the box was Howard- maybe our fitness? Didn't deserve to lose 4-1 though.

Don't think Howard shoud've started- there's no way we're going to beat West Brom with long balls. There was no movement AT ALL- like they couldn't be bothered.

I think Moussa played quite well and impressed. Abe was okay- some of the balls he played were okay, but the other players just didn't have the brain to read them. Wellens looked good when he came on- just needed to release it slightly earlier. He tried to control our midfield, looking to find that killer pass- but again our lack of movement prevented this imo.

Also, we've got to work on corners- attack them better. We must have had nearly a 100 now this season, without getting a goal from one- absolutely shocking.

Was it just me that seen the deflection on Cox's 2nd? Or were my eyes playing games?

The Beeb think it took a knick on the way in. Looked like a great strike from where I was.

Didn't realise we played 4-5-1 again and at home? hmmmmm i can see that changing soon tho when Sven gets in other players he wants, oh and Dyer injured again?

Good night out all things considered.

Got in for a fiver cos the guy thought I was under 18, saw 5 goals, thought we played reasonably well up until that mistake, if we play like that more often we'll be fine this season. Just need to be more deadly in front of goal, Fryatt could have buried 2 if he didn't faff about and take an extra touch and he was only on for like 20 minutes.

I thought Vitor had a very, very good game. Also Wellens was brilliant when he came on, we lack width though. There 2 wingers especially that tw@t Barnes, gave us a horrible time i thought! We need someone like them!

I'm 98.7689444% certain it did.

Oh I wasn't questioning you. If you think so and the Beeb think so then I'm sure it did.

I was literally about as far away from it as I could be and in the corner, so not the best of angles.

First time I've sat in the Kop for years. Never a fooking gain.

I'm sorry but 'booing' and jeering Gallagher at full time is disgusting. Fickle bastards. Fair enough he hasn't been playing the best, but that was disgraceful when he came to clap the fans.

Besides that, wasnt too bad. Vitor played well, Logans a clown, (We need a new keeper) and Neilson getting KO'd was only slightly humourous.

Oh yeah, and why didn't we sign Simon Cox. :P

On a purely selfish note, I'm not too upset about this - means I can still attend the Forest game on the Monday. Had we won tonight I fear this fixture would have been moved...?? Therefore I'd have been unable to make it. Silver lining and all that....

I thought we did okay, and at 1-1 I honestly believed we would go on and edge them out.

I'm not going to sit here and slate Logan because he made a mistake. One mistake, and it cost us the game. All ten players in front of him make mistakes at regular intervals yet as a keeper it's always going to be more obvious and more decisive. That Tchoyi must think English football is piss easy for goals - two have been handed straight to him in similar circumstances in the last fortnight!

After that it was always going to be a case of trying to push forward but being nailed on the break.

West Brom, to their credit, were awesome.

I disagree, for 60 minutes we matched them and were probably edging it. Logan's mistake happened when we on the front foot and looking threatening, afterwards it was always going to be a matter of how many for them and Logan, to his credit, made a couple of decent saves later on.

OK

West Brom did make a lot of changes, but that team they put out had BAGS of quality in it and that team could probably win the championship. Watching the game, i thought Tchoyi, Barnes, and the two centre backs were absolutely different class, look at the way Cox took his two goals, hes their FOURTH choice striker, that shows the strength in depth were up against.

Other than a ten minute spell after half time, we were a woeful second best

BUT

Dont forget we had Naughton, Davies, Waghorn, Cunningham all cup tied tonight who would more than likely feature in the game on saturday, and Sven was using tonight to have a look at a few players tonight like Vitor, Logan etc

So it isnt all negative

We could quite easily take 6 points off Preston and Barnsley and all of a sudden a loss in the Carling Cup (which lets face it is NOWHERE near as important as the league) will be forgotten

I agree with the first bit.

WBA were not superior at all. Until Logan fooked up, I'd say we were on top, they couldn't handle the pressure, Myhill and his defence looked shakey as they knocked it around.

Thought Leicester looked abit disorganised, obviously it was a chance for the fring - er players to show there worth.

Logans mistake was terrible

Abes throw was terrible

I thought we could of threatened of Gallys corners but we didn't.

Giles Barnes was very good on the other hand.

Agree with this. After the equaliser we looked up for it and were playing some lovely stuff. Logan's howler meant we had to start chasing then we started to get caught on the break.

WBA reserves are better than our reserves. Big deal. Last season they did the double over us and were completely comfortable in both games. This is the standard we have to aim for. I think Weale, Hobbs, Vitor, Wellens, King, Dyer and Waghorn are good enough first teamers out of the players we own. The loan signings are a cut above and hopefully Sven can add a quality striker before Saturday and I think we'll be away.

We do need to get a settled side as soon as possible

West Brom were dangerous when going forwards and took their chances, I'll give them that much. Defensively I didn't think they were actually that good, and almost got caught out a couple of times. We made them look better because of our inability to score. Howard up front on his own was a joke. Vitor was great I thought, he saved us a couple of times, possibly the best performance tonight. Why Abe doesn't get the chance to take a free kick is madness. Someone else needs a chance to take a few corners, haven't got much to lose given that we've not scored from one. Fair enough if Sven wanted to see a few other players in a competitive game, but can't help but feel disappointed that we've sacrificed a place in the cup as a result.

Our ‘reserves’ played better tonight, albeit at home, than our ‘first’ team away last Saturday; they did lose by a wider margin but they were playing a stronger premier league team, although I am not advocating not playing our best players when we can!

One plus was that we did try to pass the ball and keep possession, without resorting to aimless long balls up to Howard. We did match them in the 1st half. West Brom were strong, composed and patient but they were not awesome. They did not have any meaningful shot on goal, even though they looked threatening, until they actually scored. We had opportunities to score ourselves. We pressured well to secure the equaliser and began to outplay them but Logan’s error put paid to that and it became an uphill struggle to regain any measure of control as West Brom upped their game and began to dominate and take the few opportunities open to them.

I thought that Mousa and Vitor played well (Abe was quite promising and his foul throw did not affect the game) and that although Fryatt only had 20 minutes, it was 20 ineffective minutes too much.

Felt the scorline flattered West Brom if I'm honest. We were on top until Logan fooked up but nevermind, at least we can focus on the league. Oh and I can't beleive that Cox is so far down in the pecking order, he would've been first choice if he came to us.

Cox finger to the lips thing was a bit dickish (ololol see wat ah did?), it's not like we were calling him a **** all game or anything.

Am I the only one who thinks the boing boing thing is fooking retarded? It's on par with Hull's roar thing.

Not quite that bad but hardly inspiring either.

Thought their support were dreadful really. Given the numbers they came in I expected to hear them all night, they sang for a few minutes after each goal and then sort of went back to being miserable.

:dunno:

For what its worth I'll add my two pennies

Overall we were outclassed. Their first touch and passing made us look two leagues lower. They had physical strength and speed.

The first goal was down to Abe playing them on side when the defence had stepped up. Is that Abe or the defence's fault? Apart from the throw in Abe had a decent game but when Wellens came on it showed him up to be mediocore at best.

Our goal was a lucky deflection and their second was lucky too. Logan screwed up but I can forgive him that. Prior to that he had made a couple of good saves that had kept us in the game. After the goal and the two subs we looked poor and were never going to get back in it.

Its the formation and subs that I dont understand. Playing a big slow centre forward up front, alone who appeared to spend more time trundling forward from a midfield position than around the box was never going to work. The subs is what took it out the game not Logans feck up. Why did he take King off? and how Lamey can call himself a professional footballer is beyon me! I have never witnessed such a useless player in a city shirt in all my years, we would have been better if we had not replaced Neilson. Fryatt looked slow and off the pace.

Sven has a lot of work to do.
