cc_star Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 il remind you of this in a few months time.... Please do! People seem to think we'll be OK in a holding pattern until Jan and then we'll miraculously buy our way up the table - we all thought that about Holloway and we went down. The more players you sign, the more time they need to gel - and they always need pre-season which is why all the top managers don't sign anyone in January. A win against Preston will be papering over some pretty big cracks, unless we can follow it up with a run, like Portsmouth have
MC Prussian Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 WHERE'S THE PANIC BUTTON WHEN YOU NEED ONE??? Edit: Found one.
MrSpaM Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Just got back from the game, i must say, i feel cheated after this defeat. As soon as their second goal went in, our players basically stopped. Why oh Why oh Why have we bought Yuki Abe, seriously. Were not using him in his prefered position, he can't communicate with the rest of the squad, and for someone who's supposed to be japans answer to David Beckham, why the hell has he not taken a single free kick since he arrived at the club. Our defence was a shambles, they had no chance against the west brom attack. They didnt get that many chances, but every time west brom attacked it looked like they were going to score. The only upside to this is that the first ten minuites we pretty much played them off the pitch, then it all fell apart. Why was wellans not starting as well, when he came on he created chance after chance that fell to our strikeforce, who promptly messed about with the ball until they lost it. Why we played the team we did i have no idea, i'm completely lost for words now...

We have Sven who has billions of contacts, will hopefully get some quality players to come to us and hopefully we can make a really go of it come Jan/Feb and who knows maybe before if we can get a run going.. He has already got in some good players on loan so backed i have all the faith he will get some good quality in Jan I truely believe we will climb the table
Ross-Kemp Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Can't be bothered to read through, so don't know what's been covered / said. Logan done a decent save from the free kick, that was it, he shouldn't be dropping routine catches, people can stick up for him saying lack of confidence etc... But it was poor, routine goalkeeping. Vitor ? I think, doesn't look good enough, made a couple of decent tackles, but it was his poor marking and heading that led to it. Looks really out of depth. King and wellens business as usual for them, both decent enough contribution. Dyer and moussa were both excellent tonight, moussa being the better. Always looked dangerous going forward and he's not afraid to tackle either. Steve howard was poor tonight, won a couple of headers, but spent FAR too much time complaining to the referee.
CKB Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Why we played the team we did i have no idea, i'm completely lost for words now... And what team should have been played then? i mean we have a limitless amount of talent don't we???
Fosse Boy Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Madrid and Vienna!!!!!!!!!!!!! Correct answer. But no - Wigan, Bolton, even worse prices than we pay now and kick off times fucked about every other week is truly the promised land. Sad we went out tonight but no less than we deserved judging by the odd snippets I managed to catch on Sports Extra at work.

A win against Preston will be papering over some pretty big cracks, unless we can follow it up with a run, like Portsmouth have why a holding pattern?? we can start to make the climb now.. we got 7 out 9 points, you only have to remember the comments from the leeds games, including there own fans, saying we played well, so its not as if we cant do it... then came the swansea game, when was the last time they lost at home? and west brom, where are they currently ? these 2 games where against teams both doing well. tonight we had to shuffle around again.. we can gain points between now and xmas quiet easily. then when we do add to the squad january it will give us another boost.. the league is still tight with ALOT of points still to play for... play off spot is only 9 points away
phillthefox Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 conrad logan should be fookin shot !!! Fryatt should be sold asap what a pile of shite we were tonight.. bunch of mongoloids
Jon25747 Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Abe didn't sound good! Damn shame. I was hoping he would be a gem but doesn't look great so far I thought he was good, passed the ball well at times.

Finnegan Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Some people need to seriously come back down to Earth. We played a solid premiership outfit on reasonable form and didn't look outclassed for a good hour. We let our heads drop after Logan's error and that's a concern but there were still positives to take from a game we were never really going to win. Abe, Vitor and Moussa all got good chances to play and showed promise. We played reasonable, attacking football and we created chances. We definitely need more of a goal threat, Gallagher and Howard weren't good enough in that department and won't be - but Sven recognizes that and is working towards improving that area of his squad, likely with the highest priority. I can't quite stand here and claim to be proud like the Villa or Chelsea defeats but if that's the worst we see of City this season then fair play.
MrSpaM Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 And what team should have been played then? i mean we have a limitless amount of talent don't we??? We had players on the bench that would've kept us in the game had we played them from kick off, Richie Wellens being the main one i'm talking about
KFS Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 We had players on the bench that would've kept us in the game had we played them from kick off, Richie Wellens being the main one i'm talking about I'm sorry, I can't sit here and not comment on that. When standing up against a quality premiership squad, Richie fooking Wellens is not a game changer. He can pick a pass and give away fouls and cards, tell me how he would have impacted our team.

Finnegan Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 We had players on the bench that would've kept us in the game had we played them from kick off, Richie Wellens being the main one i'm talking about It's the League Cup. We're in the bottom third of the table, get your priorities sorted. We had a few players that Sven needed the chance to see in competitive games so he sent them out and gave them a go - and some of them did well. Granted Lamey and Logan didn't but so what? And besides, Richie Wellens was average at best to be fair.
Benji Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 I was very impressed with Moussa as a centre mid. Fair enough he did jack shit on the right but he had to go there in place of Dyer who was either very tired or just couldn't be arsed. First 60 minutes or so though he couldn't be faulted. Vitor played well too. Other than that, decent enough performance up to the Logan mistake (the clown's back I see) then we gave up. Shame really we looked like the only team in it for large parts of 1-0 and at 1-1. Class 4th goal.

LCFCkid Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Its obviously just me who thought we played alrite until LOGAN fuked things up!
Finnegan Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Its obviously just me who thought we played alrite until LOGAN fuked things up! Narh, I'd agree. That doesn't mean I place the blame entirely on Logan, we shouldn't have let our heads drop and it was a disappointing lack of reaction from the players - that's all of them without exception. But all in all I think we matched them up until that point. They always looked more likely to score but we were creating chances and Abe came close to making it 2 - 1 and Gallagher's first free kick was a fair one.
Mee Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 When we were at 1-1, the fans were behind the lads, and it all got going. Then Logan. I think that's enough said. . Their fourth goal was a great strike, well played to the lads. Vitor had a good game i think, Howard put a shift in, sometimes i feel for him. And i thought it was disgraceful when Gallagher came over and clapped the fans, and then some fans boo'd. That is terrible in my opinion, yes, he didn't have the best game, but doing your own player? Not my style.

I have to agree with this to be fair, i couldnt believe some of our fans were boo'ing a player who had come over to tell the fans they'd done a good job.
Bert Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 To start. 4-5-1 at home? What the chuff. Howard as a lone striker in my eyes is just, well it's never going to work. Especially when you need wingers bombing on, something that Gallagher regularly fails to do. We started out much better and as soon as their first goal went in, (Offside maybe?) our heads dropped. We came out spirited and got a deserved equaliser, until the gaff of the season. Then after that we were just totally deflated. Had some bloke behind me who was right gimp. "Bloody Logan, he's useless, get Weale on, and then let's get Shane Given in on loan tomorrow". Fair enough it was a bad mistake by Logan, but he'd made some decent saves throughout the night I thought. Fryatt doesn't look bothered at all, Gallagher just creates, waste. Howard needed some support and got offered very little. Everything just seemed to negative for me. We had nothing to lose tonight, and that West Brom team were there for the taking. I really hope we're not going to play 4-5-1 at home throughout the season. Positive performances from Vitor, Abe and Moussa. Dyer's pulled his calf, which is why he was subbed off.

Agree with pretty much all of that. I said the same about Howard, I'm not his biggest fan and I admit that but if we are going to play him (and I accept his merits) he DOES need a strike partner just off the shoulder. Oh and good shout on the offside, amongst all the drama I actually forgot about that, I swear their first was miles off. I'd like to see it again.
