Guest Posted 29 October 2010 Posted 29 October 2010 couldn't have said it any better. Fryatt is a decent enough div 3/4 p;layer but the championship is out of his depth Yep, massively out of his depth. As shown by the 12 goals he got last season including the amount of time he was out injured. What a useless tosspiece
wakeyfox01 Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 People say they don't hate Fryatt, but they are still incredibly harsh towards him. Certain individuals constantly criticise his goal scoring record for us in the Championship, he was 19 when we signed him and unproven at this level and was brilliant when he arrived and was one of the main reasons we stayed up under Rob Kelly. He then struggled for goals and form, but was part of an incredibly poor team and therefore his confidence started to go. When Allen took over he made him train with the youth team and told him he was not wanted, understandably he was at rock bottom. Pearson eventually came in put his arm around him and got him confident and look how many goals he ended up scoring, Rickie Lambert has only ever scored goals in League 1 but I remember many people crying out for us to sign him not so long ago. He's such a poor player that teams were lining up to sign him including Premier League teams, before he signed a new contract in the League 1 season and showed his loyalty to the club. He also gets criticised for being too selfish, it wasn't that long ago he was criticised for not being selfish enough. Before Pearson came in he constantly looked to pass to team mates rather than shoot for himself, which is why he didn't score many. Pearson encouraged him to be more selfish and the result? He scored goals. If anything Waghorn is just as bad if not worse as he constantly decides to shoot from ridiculous distances and angles and almost always blazes over the bar, but no one has a go at him for being selfish. It just seems to me that he seems to get it in the neck more than most and I will never understand why. I'm not claiming he has been brilliant this season, but when a player is out of form or clearly lacking in confidence, that's when you need to get behind them and support them the most.

buzzy Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 i don't hate him i just think his SHIT end of story
Legend_in_blue Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 He lacks aggression and pace. He can finish well, as long as he has time on the ball. This is why he was so prolific in league 1. He's not as dangerous in the championship because the better teams do not allow time on the ball and are more aggressive. He lacks pace to run past defenders. He's mr nice guy and couldn't possibly ever be hated.
Thor Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 One thing's for sure, Fryatt must be one of the most talked about players ever. I've lost count of the number of threads about him on this forum.
ibbosuk Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 I know the days of league 1 were a long time ago but he was firing them in left, right and center also last year he was doing ok until he got injurred and even this season in the Norwich math he showed his old self given an opportunity, he showed a real fighting spirit and still fans want him to go I wonder if fans are going to turn on Waghorn soon? Div 1 is his level we should make him go back to it, he has been at Leicester for to long.
Zingari Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 His eyes are a bit too close together for my liking
AoWW Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 His eyes are a bit too close together for my liking Ibbosuk's? Yeah, I agree.
Webbo Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 A better question would be 'Why does everybody hate Ibbosuk?'
broughtonblue Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 Div 1 is his level we should make him go back to it, he has been at Leicester for to long. Hope it's not with us again! We need some consistency soon!
Nick Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 i don't hate him i just think his SHIT end of story Don't tell us another story as your stories are rubbish.

AyewJoking Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 because he has coasted by on his "potential" for too long and if/when we get better strikers in, he will quite rightly be looking for a new club.
Philbert Fox Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 I've never liked him, he's too laid back, doesn't look like he gives a fook, falls over too easily, very inconsistant, in my opinion he's not good enough to play in the Championship, we should have cashed in when we got back up, but as usual the powers above were extremely naive and because he had a good season in a lower league they offered him a contract extension, not taking into consideration the three poor seasons he had at the club prior to our relegation, but they'll learn one day. Lets just hope Sven sees more sense than Kelly, Allen, Holloway, Pearson and Sousa and gets rid...
Corky Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 Struggled today, can't remember a meaningful shot. I would say for him to look at how Hume plays against taller defenders. Fryatt's taller yet wins nothing in the air, Hume times his jumps well and gets his fair share of headers. We look like we're still going to play quite a bit of aerial stuff so it be worth Fryatt's while adding a decent jump to his game.
Cropwellfox Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 Fryatt's career has been a series of ups and downs, currently very much in the latter. Maybe the frustration many feel with him is borne from the huge differences between the highs and the lows we've seen from him. He has been the victim of getting off to a great start to his career with us, under Rob Kelly, and the expectations with it of how much he would continue to improve. His season in the relegation year was one where he was devoid of confidence, and possibly fitness, characterised horribly by that miss at Southampton, yet the following year he came back to the fore before Xmas with a series of wonderful goals, far too much for league one defences to live with. We were still seeing a decent season before that horrific night where Stock 'got in his way' and since then, be it fitness, confidence, or both, he's not looked the same player at all. He really does seem to be a player for whom confidence is very important, and it's not clicking for him at all this season. There's been a few glimpses of a genuine championship standard front man this year, but far too few, and the sending off at Norwich perhaps is a symptom of the frustration he's feeling at not being at the top of his game. I still feel he's worth having around the matchday squad - although perhaps not starting games at the moment. He will come back into form, perhaps sooner rather than later if the focus on the players' core fitness continues, and though more strikers may well come in I think he still has a future as a player who can make a valuable contribution for us in a long season.
hackneyfox Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 'He's such a poor player that teams were lining up to sign him including Premier League teams, before he signed a new contract in the League 1 season and showed his loyalty to the club. ' Those would be the same premier clubs that were sniffing after Hume the season we went down would it? Fryatt has never shown love or loyalty to the club, and if he turned down Premier clubs to sign an extension for 3rd division us then he's stupid as well. Where do you people get these ideas from?
Webbo Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 It's worth noting that every time he got the ball today there were 2 men on him. Obviously opposition managers see something in him that some of our fans don't.
Swalker Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 I just find him fustrating because he wants too many touches too shoot both in the box and when he is on the ball in general. He also gets too many chances without converting and today he wasn't strong enough and didn't want to pass the ball. I think he has found his level at league 1 and struggles at championship

I think he has found his level at league 1 and struggles at championship It does make me laugh when people say "he found his level in League One". When you "find your level", it means you're doing an ok to good job, not dicking all over the league. Plus, today, whilst he took a lot of touches, more often than not he was wriggling free of one or two defenders and laying it off to somebody else, notably Gallagher. I thought that this was one of the better aspects of his play today, because he looked extremely unfit and his volley in the first half was simply shit.
