The Doctor Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Don't really understand the love for manford, bit dull. Sean Lock & Lee Mack are brilliant though.
Austin Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Bill Bailey everytime. Love the legends like Hicks, Carlin and Pryor though
Kent Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Bill Bailey everytime. Love the legends like Hicks, Carlin and Pryor though Thank you for rescuing the thread. As for current comedian, Lee Evans is probably my favourite but I like quite a lot, although there's something about female comedians which isn't funny. Not being sexist or anything.
lcfc_amie Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Michael Mcintyre is my favourite at the minute. Others i like include Lee Evans, Milton Jones, John Bishop, Jason Manford, Rhod Gilbert. There's also been a few on comedy roadshow that i've found really funny - but i can't remember their names
Mickey O'Neil Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Can't believe nobody has mentioned Kevin Bridges!! lol
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Doing the rounds at the minute Sean Lock, Rich Hall, Kevin Bridges and Daniel Sloss are all brilliant. Got the Yanks to thank for Demetri Martin, Louis CK and David Cross, great, great stand ups. Actually think Frank Skinner is an absolutely phenomenal stand-up, too, and some of Richard Ayoade's stand-up as a yoot is top drawer as well, that man can do anything.
The Doctor Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Rich Hall is quality - also love Ed Byrne & Milton Jones.
Parafox Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Bill Bailey... off the wall and a bit of a hippy, yet so very funny cos it's intelligent humour. Lee Mack, incredibly funny as was Dara O'Briain. Tim Vine... saw him at the YMCA in Leicester... like Tommy Cooper on speed, so many rapid one-liners, hardly able to breathe for laughing. I suppose yoiu'd need to have the right sense of humour to find the silly gags really funny, but i did. Of the female stand-ups... errrrr... nope, sorry...not since Victoria Wood... (Sarah Millican doesn't count she just appears on panel shows and talks about cake).
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 19 April 2012 Posted 19 April 2012 Went to see Ross Noble the other night as part of the Comedy Festival it was brilliant so entertaining and the best thing is he is value for money. None of these 50minute gigs, it went for 2.5 hours.
Rincewind Posted 19 April 2012 Posted 19 April 2012 saw Tim Minchen last night. Something I recorded a week or so ago. Does he count as a stand up? Thought he was good.
DJMadness29 Posted 19 April 2012 Author Posted 19 April 2012 Jon Richardson is VERY good, He's like alot of people on here, just likes to moan about EVERYTHING but in a funny way. Jason Byrne is also really good, went to see him last year and DeMont was only half full, was an awesome random gig. Got tickets to see John Bishop soon. Trying not to buy tickets to see Ross Noble at DeMont as im ment to be saving for holibobs
RonnieTodger Posted 19 April 2012 Posted 19 April 2012 Anybody see Doc Brown on Russell Howard's Good News? Thought he was excellent.
Parafox Posted 19 April 2012 Posted 19 April 2012 Anybody see Doc Brown on Russell Howard's Good News? Thought he was excellent. Can't stand Russell Howard but I have only seen him on TV TBF. His delivery on his show is too stilted and sounds scripted (which obviously its is)
Tielemans63 Posted 19 April 2012 Posted 19 April 2012 Went to see Ross Noble the other night as part of the Comedy Festival it was brilliant so entertaining and the best thing is he is value for money. None of these 50minute gigs, it went for 2.5 hours. The guy's a genius, probably my favourite stand-up alongside Kevin Bridges. Can't beat a bit of classic Connolly either.
Raw Dykes Posted 19 April 2012 Posted 19 April 2012 My favourites are Stewart Lee, Ross Noble and Sean Lock.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 19 April 2012 Posted 19 April 2012 Anybody see Doc Brown on Russell Howard's Good News? Thought he was excellent. Yeah I saw that Doc Brown and also thought he was very good, I rarely laugh out loud at the tv but he made me do so a couple of times
Rincewind Posted 3 May 2012 Posted 3 May 2012 In one of my poems where I say you may have to listen to another Jim Davidson joke I've changed it to Tim Vine. I was told anything with his name mentioned will sell. His brother is Jeremy Vine isnt he? Also in the part where Michael Jackson could become the pope I've changed it to lady GaGa
Simmsy Posted 3 May 2012 Posted 3 May 2012 Saw Stewart Lee live at De Montfort Hall the other week- never laughed so much in my life.
MikeyT Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 Chubby Loathe his stand up stuff. Just pure filth and not funny whatsoever. Although, I did serve him once when I worked at Virgin and he was a really nice bloke.
RonnieTodger Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 Can't stand Russell Howard but I have only seen him on TV TBF. His delivery on his show is too stilted and sounds scripted (which obviously its is) Agreed. The only reason I watch it, is for the funny news itself. Very rarely laugh at his jokes. My top 3 would be: 1. Micky Flanagan 2. Jason Manford 3. Tim Vine
