Dr The Singh Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 Nonsense... If we are looking for promotion this season the pressure is on all our games. Lousy goal difference, rubbish start to the season, we need to win our home games at the very least. Teams will come looking for a draw, we need to be confident and to beat them, home draws are not sufficient! Your right, but in reality I don't think we look like a side capable of promotion, I think we will stutter against the more confident teams, and the main reason is because our forward line is suspect, none of our strikers are scoring regularly!!

This is the point i was trying to make! I don't want to draw our home games, but in reality - we don't have a prolific strike force do we? Wins would be excellent results - but with Forest and Derby in form, as are we - i'd take a point now.

I disagree, but as I said above, I am optimistic... Why else would i be out at 8.00am checking my tyres and getting my jobs done early so I can blast up the M1 come early afternoon... This is the point i was trying to make! I don't want to draw our home games, but in reality - we don't have a prolific strike force do we? Wins would be excellent results - but with Forest and Derby in form, as are we - i'd take a point now. The reality is that there are no truly outstanding teams this season, even QPR are finding it dificult to win at the moment, we need to be confident and continue t take the games to our opposition, win the next 2 games and we are just 3 points behind Derby currently in 4th place. We need to be 'in the mix' come January, then we will see just how serious our new owners are. A few more players and promotion is there for the taking (buying actually, but that is the modern way).
Pegosteve Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 What I would like tonight in this order: 3 points No nail biting last 20 minutes A goal from a corner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not a lot to ask really.
MPH Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 The blades will indeed want to put the brick wall up. Our best hope will be to not let them settle and build that wall. We need to hit them hard and early. Failing that, copious amounts of theatrical diving in and around the box, please. Then give Abe the ball!!!

I think Gallaghers intent on hitting the clock on the scoreboard and until he does I don't think anyone will get the ball off him for a freekick
shailen Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 scrappy 2-0 win Dyer (31st min) Gally (84th min) Sheff utd wont let us play football and will put everyone behind the ball and look to counter!

If we win tonight we'll be in the same run of form as Derby, and we've won the same amount of league games as Forest.

nickelbyfox Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 A Comfortable win would be nice, as with Stringers commentating turn into a nervous wreck if we are holding on towards the end of a game!
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 We won more games when this was called the 'Optimeter'
Lillehamring Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 This is the point i was trying to make! I don't want to draw our home games, but in reality - we don't have a prolific strike force do we? Wins would be excellent results - but with Forest and Derby in form, as are we - i'd take a point now. no, but equally we are not as bad as perhaps people think - considering our bad start we still have the 14th ranked attack (8th at home) - the strike force we have is under-performing, true, but if they can hit even a half decent bit of form, we should be able to rival any other team. apart from against swansea, it has been a long time since we failed to score in a league match - scoring has never really been the problem this season, rather the amount of goals we have conceded - with that seemingly resolved we are no longer relying on having to score 2, 3 or more goals to win games.
Legend_in_blue Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 City have been rejuvenated since the recent appointment of Sven-Goran Eriksson, and are now taking the kind of chances they were missing prior to his arrival. They have had more attempts on goal this season than any other Championship team. I find that quite incredible. Onwards and upwards. I expect another win today. No question.
benmeysner Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 mood @ blades camp is not optimistic haha, just had a wander through their forums.
Heskey2011 Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 mood @ blades camp is not optimistic haha, just had a wander through their forums. Yeah i live in Sheffield and the Blades i work with are worried to say the least, also they had to listen to the Barnsley fans in the office singing our praises, common consensus was that not many teams go to Oakwell and dominate like we did on Saturday. Got to win this one, 80mins Howard on as sub scores the winner teed up by Vassell. guaranteed
