maddog Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 Sven seems to have worked some magic, but we don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves, we've had 'turning points' before then suffered a shocking defeat or a manager suddenly departing. But with our current form, and the blades very blunt under Gary Speed, on paper this should be a comfortable win. Last season we played very well in this fixture winning 2-1 on Boxing Day and were only denied all three points by a second half stunner at Bramall Lane. We're looking for three wins on the spin for the first time since April/May when we had five on the bounce. Sheffield have lost four in six including their last three matches, they will aim for their first three points at the Walkers Stadium since October 2007. Going for a 3-1 win, bring it on
sdb Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 whatever the result i'm sure we'll make hard work of it! really hope we win, we should but that means nothing.
MattyFromLE Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 3 wins on the spin would be perfect! With Derby, and Forest coming up - we need to win games like these at home. If we can take another 2-0, clean sheet good performance, a point from Derby and Forest then that'll be a pretty good month!
davieG Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 The big turnaround we need and it's yet to happen is scoring goals whilst we're in command of the game, both Preston and Barnsley could easily have finished 1-1 but we've rode our luck defensively and not taken our chances in attack. Unless we can start getting two goals to the good earlier in the game they'll always be the chance of it ending badly.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 2-0 win. Have a feeling that it probably wont be a good game but I wouldnt care less. Waghorn and Gallagher to score.
ousefox Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 I honestly now think we have a better team than last season and am hopeful we can go on a decent run. Think we are going to thrash somebody too but hopefully we can save that for Derby. Even comparing the squad from the first game of the season to that of the one on saturday, you can see how improved it is. Our strength in depth is superb. 1 Weale 4 Morrison 15 Berner 2 Neilson 25 Hobbs 11 Dyer 10 King 8 Oakley 12 Fryatt 17 N'Guessan 32 Campbell Substitutes 26 Parkes 9 Howard 13 Logan 29 Moore 18 Kennedy 27 John 19 Wellens 1 Weale 16 Naughton 5 Vítor 24 Davies 32 Cunningham 19 Wellens 7 Gallagher 10 King 22 Abe 14 Waghorn 37 Vassell Substitutes 13 Logan 25 Hobbs 9 Howard 11 Dyer 12 Fryatt 15 Berner 23 Moussa
Father Ted Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 5-0 win, we're due to thrash somebody. Waghorn (2), King (2) and Wellens to bag one.
ajthefox Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 I rekon we may well get a good win here with the current form of both teams, however, Sheff Utd are bound to break their bad spell at some point and all good things come to an end too, so this is by no means a certain 3 points just because the form book would have you believe so.
FoxyPV Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 Howard definitely has to play against them as without Morgan they look a shambles at the back. He can rough them up and create space for the likes of Waggie/ Fryatt et al. Feeling confident about this one but that usually means defeat.
C.J Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 After listening to some of their disgruntled supporters (including one physico) on t'radio t'yorkshire on the way back from Barnsley, I think we'll be ok.
Dylan Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 We've won our last two, they've lost their last 3. Somehow I still got a feeling we'll mess this one up and only come away with a point . A game we should win if we're looking for playoffs.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 They have only let in 6 away from home all season which is the second best record in the league so I really hope this isnt one of those shit 0-0 evening games we seem to have at least once a year. Thouhg I still stick by my original 2-0 prediction.
conradno1 Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 i would be more confident if they won at the weekend, even though that sounds weird
Wymsey Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 Mark Yeates plays for them doesn't he. Cunningham needs to be prepared for this battle.
shade Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 it amazes me how often people say were going to thrash somebody, people were saying it under Sousa and he was gone a few games later. nothing wrong with optimism, but some people get massively carried away, I don't believe in tempting fate but if I did......
Tilley Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 This will be our first big win of the season, 7-1.
deep blue Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 This will be our first big win of the season, 7-1. You seriously think we're going to let a goal in?
Tilley Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 Vassell own goal when he has already scored 7 up the other end.
The Doctor Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 2-1 us. Sheff yoo have been shit infront of goal recently but with the strikers they have it should pick up at some point - hopefully not until nest saturday at the earliest. previous results against them at the walkers shows 3 wins (3-2 (04-05), 4-2 (05-06), 2-1 (09-10), 1 draw (0-0 (02-03) and 1 defeat (0-1 (07-08) so the stats are on our side.
shailen Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 This isn't going to be a thrashing like everyone expects. They'll be playing to hold out for the draw and maybe snatch a winner. Its going to be a scruffy game and a slow tempo one at that but hopefully we can show our quality and win 1-0 or 2-0
StanSP Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 We're on a high and we'll win but I don't think it will be convincing. King and Howard with the goals!
Spiritwalker Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 Howard definitely has to play against them as without Morgan they look a shambles at the back. He can rough them up and create space for the likes of Waggie/ Fryatt et al. Feeling confident about this one but that usually means defeat. Apparently they really struggled against the big lad playing up front for Ipswich.
phillthefox Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 3-1 city on wed, sheff utd look poo , and we are flying.... vassell , waghorn, king .... some northern scumbag for blades
