hackneyfox Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 Why does everyone hate Fryatt? Have you all forgotten Yann Kermorgant?? Does anybody 'hate' Fryatt? Can peple please stop being so emotional. If someone questions a player then they immediately get accused of 'hating' them and having an agenda against them. It gets impossible to debate anything when this happens. Still people want to have the players, the managers and Chrissie P's children

okie fox Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 Fryatt this season seems to want too many touches before he shoots. By that time the defenders have closed him down and the goalkeeper is set for his shot if it gets through. Often an early shot is the best one, even if it is with the weaker foot. Also, he is not quick enough to get open.
Finnegan Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 And 61 goals was way short of what I'd have been aiming for. Fortunately for us (though perhaps not Monsieurs Sheehan, Porter, Hammond, Dodds and co',) the club don't really have a track record of giving a shit what you're "aiming for."
Thracian Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 Fortunately for us (though perhaps not Monsieurs Sheehan, Porter, Hammond, Dodds and co',) the club don't really have a track record of giving a shit what you're "aiming for." Your typical and inevitable vitriol does nothing for your argument whatsoever. But then nothing would.
Finnegan Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 I don't see that we're having an argument really. You're not wrong that the only certain way to get promoted is to finish in the top two but I am correct that we, given the play-offs, had scored enough to go up. Just unfortunately that fact clashes with your persistent need to, directly or indirectly, make every thread on FT about either Labour being racist or Pearson being negative. And I'd call it more banter than vitriol. Now do we call it quits on that note or do we risk the wrath of Thomas Gee?
Pegosteve Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 What we have to ask is if we are aiming for the premiership, is he a premiership player? You have to say not really and we are desperate to get some quality strikers in in January. I honestly think his days at the City are numbered. He certainly helped get us out of League 1 but you have to ask that if he had taken his chances in the previous season (especially against Bristol City at home) we might never have got there in the first place!
fatmando Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 At some point in the season Fryatt will have flurry of important goals.
hackneyfox Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 He probably would if you played him in every game but can we afford to play him on the next 27 games if he will only score 6 in 8 games and do nothing in the rest?
Mickey O'Neil Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 No doubt he will start banging the goals in when he buggers off to Hull, then everyone will moan we shouldn't have sold him. I think it's time he moves on though as it's gone stale for him here. We sold Heskey at the right time, time for pastures new for Matty. I don't hate him and I still rate him...but he needs a move.
Webbo Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 I really rate Fryatt and I think if he got a decent run in the side he could score 20 a season. He obviously doesn't fit into Sven's system though or Sven doesn't rate him. Perhaps it's time for him to leave.

B52 Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 If Fryatt is lazy and still get a lot of goals he's a genius............. Headless chickens though seems to very popular in England.
Uncle Monty Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 Why does everyone hate Fryatt? Have you all forgotten Yann Kermorgant?? I was chatting to a stade reims fan yesterday. Guy seemed to thin he was shite, I had to agree.
Lisburn Fox Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 Fryatt is still a the top striker and will get his chance I just hope he takes it. If he goes it will come back to bite us on the arse!!!

Still people want to have the players, the managers and Chrissie P's children lol calm down, it's a reference to a debate I had on here not long back. Sheesh. I've made my views on Fryatt known on here with perfect clarity on more than one occasion - not hatred, more frustration. I couldn't care less about Kermo now seeing as he isn't here, something I was told makes me "not a real football fan". I think your emotions got the better of you, really.. I was chatting to a stade reims fan yesterday. Guy seemed to thin he was shite, I had to agree. bless him. He's just low on confidence etc etc..
bridlington Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 Evening all, hull fan here. Saw another mention of us and fryatt so thought I'd do some digging. Read through much of this thread and it's made interesting reading. Noticed the word lazy has cropped up a fair bit, is this a trait he has always tended to have or moreso since Pearson left? Rumour around here suggests he's being lined up to play alongside bednar of west brom. Sounds a fair balance in theory although would worry about service from our midfield if fryatt is often reluctant to go looking for the ball. Anyway is there any news from your end on this? I noticed a comment about your BBC fella suggesting there may be a deal on... Cheers fellas
rabbid Posted 17 November 2010 Posted 17 November 2010 More than anything, he needs to be told to stop sulking and look like he wants to start playing for us. the mesiyah speaks agane

I noticed a comment about your BBC fella suggesting there may be a deal on... Cheers fellas He was obviously better under Pearson but yes he was still lazy. I'd never, ever have described Matty Fryatt as a run-your-socks-off, bleed-for-the-team sort. Think Ruud Van Nistelrooy without the lethal finishing or spacial awareness and you've got our Mr. Fryatt. No pace, strength or height to speak of but a knack for scoring more goals than you'd imagine. Should average 13 - 20 in the Championship most years if kept fit I guess.
Smudge Posted 17 November 2010 Posted 17 November 2010 I'm not a Fryatt fan and the glory of League 1 stardom did him no good at all. However, lets not forget that he suffered a broken jaw against Doncaster on Feb 9th last year and only returned as a late sub in the last three games, effectively reducing his season by 18 league games. As I remember he scored most of last years goals early doors so was probably out of form when he got crocked.

Cheers fellas if you get him he will be shit hot for you he needs to play in a 4-4-2 with a bigman so him and bednar would be good together but iv heard were getting either bednar or miller from wba so i cant see us letting go until we get one of them in
The Doctor Posted 17 November 2010 Posted 17 November 2010 out of form but a good goalscorer. His petulance (or some might call it desire) against norwich, kicking that lad in the back trying to get the ball back did him no favours becuase it left him suspended for the first two games of svens reign & the s****horpe game where sven was watching on. good player at this level, probably not at premiership. Keep for now but keep an eye out for replacements.
Fox 4 Life Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 More rumours in the local Reading papers about them approaching Sven re loaning Fryatt. Battling with Hull apparently.
