Trav Le Bleu Posted 17 November 2010 Posted 17 November 2010 Is anyone else creeped out by the fact he gave her his dead mum's ring from her failed marriage that ended in horrific death crash horror blood spurt? I hope he's had it cleaned first.
z-layrex Posted 17 November 2010 Posted 17 November 2010 Very happy for them both. Wish them a very happy life together. He gave her his mum's engagement ring I believe, really touching.

Finnegan Posted 17 November 2010 Posted 17 November 2010 Yeah the ring thing is more than strange. Not least because they got divorced!! Giving a wedding ring to the next generation is one thing - but not if the parents got divorced!!

Giving a wedding ring to the next generation is one thing - but not if the parents got divorced!! a) She didn't divorce her kids. I'm guessing it was left to William in her will. Who are we to judge? b) It's a piece of jewellery . That crown that the Queen sometimes wears, all that's previous owners are dead too.
stripeyfox Posted 17 November 2010 Posted 17 November 2010 I can understand why some might see the ring as some sort of curse but I assume that will and kate have discussed it and she's ok with it
Finnegan Posted 17 November 2010 Posted 17 November 2010 The ring represents his parents union that failed. It represents a divorce that not only likely hurt him but in a long and roundabout way partly contributed to her decline. Regardless of their being royalty it is weird. I would be honoured to use my nan's wedding ring. Seventy years they were wed. But my mam's? After the split and divorce? Sorta the wrong symbolism to me. Again, this is regardless of who he is and just personally how I'd feel. Not saying it's wrong, just weird imo.
AoWW Posted 17 November 2010 Posted 17 November 2010 I can understand why some might see the ring as some sort of curse but I assume that will and kate have discussed it and she's ok with it In fairness, if your other half said "hey, I'd really like for you to have my mother's engagement ring" it'd be pretty awkward to say, "actually, I'd rather not". For me, the fact that Diana died in such tragic circumstances somehow makes it seem more macabre than if it was a parent who'd died of natural causes at a good age. I also think I'd want my 'own' ring... Diana always claimed there were '3 people in her marriage' and now it seems Kate's also going to have a constant reminder of William's mother in her own marriage. I have to say if I were in Kate's position (unlikely!) I could understand William, for sentimental reasons, wanting his wife to have the ring, but I'd be far more comfortable if it were reworked in some way (the stones used in a different setting, for example) so I felt it was more 'mine'. Just my opinion!
FoxyPV Posted 17 November 2010 Posted 17 November 2010 My step daughter got her wedding ring reworked from the ring she was given by her mother in law's engagement ring to make her own. AOWW you should contact Clarence House and suggest this

FoxyPV Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 One would imagine someone at Clarence House ought to have the intelligence to think of such a thing, surely? Too many years of inbreeding has stunted their brainpower
Webbo Posted 18 November 2010 Author Posted 18 November 2010 Prince Harry is gutted at not being invited to the wedding. Apparently it is family only.
Alf Bentley Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 The Wills and Kate interview UNCENSORED (with public lies, crudity and infantile humour warning):
Zingari Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 So Kate will be slipping her finger into Diana's ring , I wonder who was the last person to do that ?
Daggers Posted 22 November 2010 Posted 22 November 2010 So now he apologises in a fawning and deferential manner. Well done Bish Broadbent.

Daggers Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 Channel 4 NewsSt James's Palace has given a little more detail on the upcoming Royal wedding: The Wedding will be Fri 29th April at Westminster Abbey - the couple wanted a Spring wedding. All wedding costs (aside from security, policing and cleaning) will be met by the Royal Family and the Middletons. Finger food would cut down on the cleaning they'd need to do rather than bunking off for a good shag.
Zingari Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 we ought to have an FT whip round to buy them a prezzie i've got some tesco "money off" vouchers that are nearing the expiry date , i'll gladly donate them
Bellend Sebastian Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 I've got an Ikea coffee table going spare. It cost me £15 barely two years ago - I think Kate and William would LOVE it
